Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
Young simply is the best choice at 3. For years we have tolerated turnovers and poor disposal. Young is the best kick but also importantly is a very good footballer. He can play back or midfield (wing) with excellent aerial skills. He would bring disposal into forward 50 which is crucial. I saw him 3 times in full games and he was BOG in all 3 games imo. And if you forget how good this kid is, watch his highlights again. Skills. Footy smarts. Physically sound. Captained Stingrays under 18s this year. Knows what’s required as his brother is at the Bulldogs. Being a local boy is just a bonus. Hayden Young at 3.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
I saw Jackson live and I don’t see him being pick 3. That’s a speculative punt. He is an athlete. Basketball aerobic movement. No doubt. But he is very raw still. Skills are lacking. Tumbles the footy. Needs at least 3 years development as athleticism alone at AFL level is not enough. I know you can’t dismiss someone from interstate, but our record of holding stars from interstate is not great. so who would I pick? Hayden Young has the skills, footy smarts and aerial skills to warrant pick 3. His delivery is absolutely needed. He would be our best kick from his first game. I would grab him in a heartbeat at 3.

Geelong Eyeing Our Picks
CATS ARE TRYING TO GRAB BRODIE KEMP its that obvious. They know he will not last up to pick 14. 8 for 14 and 17. No way Cats need to sweeten that deal with another 20ish type pick.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
I’m totally in the Yes to Mitch Brown. We will lack forward depth and he showed real ability to hit the scoreboard. Cheap option with good experience. With Weid still not showing me his talent can meet the intensity of AFL, I’d like to keep depth options available.

Fritsch Eager to Take it Up a Notch
16 goals in last 7 games and losses. Almost won two games on his good forward play. He can kick 40 imo definitely a forward

Phantom Drafts
Serong or Kemp at 8 are a steal. ( or Stephens or Flanders or Ash or Jackson ... in that order). One will drop and we should get Young plus another top quality youngster.
-
Tom Green (Drafted by GWS Giants)
Definitely nominate Green at pick 3. Force GWS to pay for this super talented youngster. If they don’t match? Dees will have picked up probably the best player in the draft as he certainly right up there with Anderson and Rowell.

Raft of Changes Coming to VFL
Definitely like to see 3 stingrays (unlikely to be drafted) but who I think has excellent potential. Jack Toner - rover/mid, Luca Goonan - ruck river, Blake Kuipers - CHB/ruck.
-
Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
Brodie Kemp is the one player I saw in 2019 apart from Rowell and Anderson that I think can be a superstar. Has the pace and strength and footy skills to be Dangerfield like. His injury keeps him out for 2020 but his upside is he’d be ready to go round 1 2021. Young might be the safe bet at 3 and I agree BUT if Kemp is available at 8, we simply could not afford to let him go

Raft of Changes Coming to VFL
Liam Buxton moving to SANFL next year. $$$ and to showcase his ruck work without Preuss. Draftable type in 2020 draft given absence of depth in quality rucks. Dees need to look at Tom Freeman and Cory Stockdale. Either could be rookie option in 2020 rookie picks. Freeman - Quality 20 year old with AFL quality skills and intercept marking. Stockdale - 22 year old. solid small defender similar to Lockhart in intensity. Could be Jettas replacement in a year or two.

Live Pick Trading and Academy Bid Matching
It’s all quite funny given it used to be about young blokes getting excited about going to an AFL club. Now it’s mathematical algorithms and actuarial studies is a prerequisite. AFL gone mad. Trade players and picks. Keep the picks as picks. No live trading for me.

Dees slapped with fine for breaching Drug Code
I love it. Demonlanders definitely have the best sense of humour. I’m still laughing !!!

2019 Player Reviews: #41 Jay Lockhart
Lockhart can play anywhere but he was a standout small defender at Casey in 2018. Probably could fill that spot to cover for Jetta. Small forward role is an option as he has intensity. I like his grunt and desire to get the footy. Almost goal of the year for the Dees in round 2 v cats. It was a highlight amongst another sorry event.
-
Caleb Serong (Drafted by Fremantle)
Serong is a good player. Definitely an option at 8 if Kemp and Stephens are gone (Strange JT did not mention him). Better option imo than Weightman as he can play forward and is a proven mid. Serong Would develop as a small forward and then go into midfield after about 2 preseasons in gym and afl fitness.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
Yes tell Cats to take a long walk off a short pier
- Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
-
Splitting Draft Pick 3
Do we think JT is trying to get into Freos head. Freo want Jackson and Robertson at 7 and 10 and use pick 22 plus change to match on a bid for Henry. Seems Dees could trade 8 for 10 and 22. Hmmm. Amazingly Freo might be tempted.

Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
I’ve been fully in the Young #3 (4 if Dees nominate Green) and Kemp at #8. Young wins as pick 3 due to elite disposal and aerial marking. Need to build his body with AFL preseasons in the gym. Given Kemp’s championship form, I would have seen him pick 3 if he’d been able to see out 2019. His injury means you have to just project how he will go after a year out. But his pace and strength are Dangerfield like. I think Stephens is an excellent runner with a skilled left foot. Loves a goal. He’d probably go to the Crows with their first pick. However if Kemp was gone , he would be strong pick if he was still available at 8.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
In Burgess we trust!! It’s probably his call if Bennells body can stand the tough rigorous AFL physical requirements. Goody would be mastering his mind and motivation. Both has tough assignments. But that’s why they command the $$$$$$$$

What to do with what is now Pick 74?
Thanks. I thought we had 6. outs - Lewis Maynard TSmith Frost Jkh stretch Garlett Keilty ins - Langdon Tomlinson I guess Dunkley now is an addition officially. He had to become listed as his mid year selection was actually because of injury list replacement for Nietschke. so it’s 5 more !!

What to do with what is now Pick 74?
I think we have 6 vacancies

What to do with what is now Pick 74?
Probably a hypothetical but if we keep pick 3 and 8, and take Murray as DFA & Bennell as SSP rookie we actually might get the last two live picks at the end being around 74 and 75. BTW there’s the saying that it does not matter where you are drafted, pick 1 or 81, you go on an AFL list and try your hardest. Harmesy missed out on being drafted but went in the rookie draft. It’s the heart and work ethic that determines the outcome sometimes.

Deven Robertson (Drafted by Brisbane)
Freo should grab him at pick 10. We’d be developing him to package up for the Eagles. No from me.
