Phantom Drafts
Itās 48 hours of predictions. Only JT and Goody know the algorithm of how this plays out. And then we wait up to 5 years potentially for the real outcome!!!!

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Petty will settle into CHB most likely. He was a drop in forward. Preuss is more of a ruckman whilst Jackson will need lots of development. Our games without key forwards in the last 5-6 games were shockers.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Looking through our list and vulnerability , the key forwards look light on. Brown can provide experience and proven ability. Definitely good to get him onboard for 2-3 years as depth to cover this. 2019 showed this glaring gap

Poll: Who do you want with our first two picks?
Agree. We need to use these picks strongly to get pace and footy skills into our transition footy. Thatās our key weaknesses. We need players to deliver the footy without killing it. Thatās apparently why Frosty was given the opportunity to go elsewhere. How can we get skilful youngsters like Young, Stephens or Kemp onboard.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
Agree with all on here. Pick 10 is too high a price. Pick 28 May be too late. Heās a talent and may tempt Dees to split pick 10 if good offers come.

Nearest the Pin
Interesting option in Dylan Williams. Great 2018 as a goalkicking half forward dominant as an underaged. Injury ruined 2019 but is very very good player if his body can get 100%.

What to do with Pick 10?
Yes it is likely Cats will offer 14 and 17 or Suns offer 15 and 20. Interesting offers but Iād still stick with pick 10. Itās likely to get a slider from the top 4-5 players rated behind Rowell and Anderson. Kemp or Ash or Serong or Stephens could be available.

Cody Weightman (Drafted by Western Bulldogs)
My reference to Weightman being a āSpargo-like playerāāwas in regards to being āboysā. They play well as boys but translating that to the AFL against men can be difficult. Dylan Smith was the classic āboyā who was drafted by the Kangas at 4 or 5 yet struggled. He was a gun under 18s midfielder who never got going against men in the AFL. The comparison was not for where they play. I see Spargo as better in a creative midfield role like where he played in his underage years but he may struggle against men. I know Weightman is a different style as he is a lively forward pocket with goal sense. There is youngsters that just look like they can step up as men. Oliver. Cunnington. Cripps. They have the hard edge and bodies to step up. Perhsps Iām still scarred by Addam Maric , another āhighly rated lively forward pocketā. But that was in the dark BP years and we do put more faith in JT. I am keen for our youngsters picked to be drivers of future success. IMO I donāt see Weightman being ahead of other youngsters for top 3 as it was or now for the pick 10. Itās my opinion. Happy to be see where the cards fall.

Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
And the voice of experience

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
Yes the draft is heavily compromised. But itās the AFL. Nothingās even. The draw, the draft , the salary cap rules, the academy scheme.

Yes itās all fun and our desire for the Dees to get some quality youngsters. Yet the ātrollsāā on other posts love to shoot others down and denigrate. Iāve always been in the Hayden Young at 3 and Brodie Kemp at pick 8 camp. Young for elite ball use which would be a milestone at the Demons and Kemp because of superstar potential with strength and pace. I would like to see Tom Green called at 3 and make Giants match it. It appears unlikely so Giants will end up with two top 5 players Obviously the popular view seems MFC picks as Jackson at 3 , for a 10 year outlook as Gawn probably has the #1 ruck role for 5-6 more years He didnāt play forward at the championships but JT says he can be a key forward , yet very raw footy skills. athleticism is his strength. Weightman at 10. Lively forward pocket. Good skills but I think theyād be better options available at this pick like Kemp or Ash or Serong. Pick 28 is a lottery to see whoās available. Like to see either KOZZZY Pickett or ELIJJJJAH Taylor for their excitement. Small indigenous forwards are exciting. Like Jeremy Sharp as the running back or wingman or even a punt on Darcy Cassar. Both Sharp and Cassar are classy runners with good pace and that much required skill. Wait and see now.

Ouch. Jackson at 3. Weightman ahead of Kemp and Stephens. Thatās taking a punt with both low picks.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KYSAIAH KROPINYERI PICKETT
Kozzzy Pickett or Elijjjjah Taylor at pick 28 would be a great draft swoop. We need exciting small indigenous players.
-
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
Watch how Young kicks the ball to Wareham. That won Vic country the game v WA. So your point is that Youngās elite kicking is essential
-
Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
Kemp can move. He has real pace and strength. If we hold 10, I hope heās available. I think Blues will grab him unfortunately.
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Agree. Itās a puzzle. Jackson is an athletic ruck type. Do we need one? Gawn has a good 5-6 years left. Is Jackson a key forward? Not that I saw in the champs. Itās an absolute punt at pick 3.
-
Hayden Young (Drafted by Fremantle)
Forget any comparison to Strauss. Thatās a joke. Young is an elite kick. He has footy smarts, aerial marking skills and leadership. Our ball use is horrible. We need players like this kid.
-
What to do with what is now Pick 32?
Yes āKozzzzzzzyā Pickett or āElijjjjjjjjjahā Taylor. Excitement. Indigenous small forwards. They were not top 10 picks so Dees have done well to position ourselves into 2nd round.
-
Brodie Kemp (drafted by Carlton)
Kemp has 12 months recovery through to June 2020 from ACL. He will do a lot of gym work and build up his upper body. Where does he play? At the start, probably half back. Within 2 years he can play ruck rover and be very damaging alongside Viney and Oliver and Petracca. He may also play as an attacking CHB/half back like Brendon Goddard.
-
Casey Demons Offseason News
Dees rated Mutimer but Eagles grabbed him. He has good talent and run, and importantly is a very good kick. Hope he makes the most of the chance to impress.
-
Phantom Drafts
Wow. Young at 10. Thatās an amazing slide. His ball delivery is elite. His intercept marking. His leadership. His aerobic base is strong.
-
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Agree. We need pace in the midfield and elite ball skills. Thatās Ash for pace and Young for delivery. Jackson may look at āgoing homeā after we develop him. Eagles and Dockers would be rabid if this kid was any good. And to keep him weād be paying $$$$$$. Heās raw and needs lots of development for 2-3 years+.

The Splitting of Pick 8
Yes. Agree. Dees would be in line for Kemp. But Cats want Kemp. 10 and 28 for 14 and 17 (Weightman and Bergman). Thatās sliding down too much imo
