  1. Petracca 7 Viney 4 in coaches votes. Clearly Viney was our best. Daylight. Tough. 460 metres gained. Numerous 1%s. Great goal in the last qtr. Petracca was good but not dominant and didn’t punish with his disposals.
  2. AFL is now too soft. Protect the head but the tackle must be kept a strong and physical act.
  3. Agree 100%. It’s the same each time. Even the one try to kick long was to Gawn. It’s so predictable that other clubs just crowd around Gawn and actually outnumber us. Answer. More movement. I watched the Eagles yesterday and their kick ins are sharp and creative. They used it to rebound often to the wing and beyond. Not always to the ruckman!!
  4. Only change is to bring in Tmcd or give Bennell a spell. Harmes on notice but stays in.
  5. Yes a lot was missed which we would have been penalised for. Crowd was 70% Lions. Influence in the umpiring was clear. So called Dees home game !!
  6. Here’s some examples. Charlie Cameron. Runs 10 metres. Tried to evade and gets tackled. Ball stays in. Ball up. (Ffs). Zorko evades two players and gets run down and the ball spills clear. Play on. James Harmes. Twice. Got hospital handball. Tackled by 2 players and flat on the ground trying to push it out. Holding the ball!!! Bailey caught holding the ball. Holds it in after the free. Then prevents Trac getting the ball. No 50. Picketts tackle was legit. He tackled and the momentum of Berry rolled forward. A sling is when they are held and then a second motion “slings the locked up player to the ground” Levers marked in play. Why a review? Why penalize us when we were 40m away and rebounding. McCarthys free and resulting goal in the 2nd qtr. 15 metres out. Arms everywhere from 10 players and a very soft glance across his shoulder by Langdon reaching for the footy. Free and goal to Bris-favoured-Lions. Any more needed??? Basically the holding the ball decisions are confusing and frustrating to all supporters
  7. Agree. Sometimes Gawn would be better off with a 15 metre punch to our advantage. Players could run into the footy. The Lions like Lyons, Neale and Zorko just camped in the clearance contest and won it repeatedly.
  8. He’s jogging on the spot in our team right now. 9 possessions. 1 mark. 2 tackles. He’s back next week but needs to have a huge lift in his performance
  9. 6 Viney. He was in the kitchen all night. Great contested footy. Tackles. Clearances. Hit targets. Great goal in the last. Definitely our best. Huge heart. 5 Oliver. If only he had Pendlebury style disposal. He’s a beast. Contested footy and tackling were A grade. A few clangers definitely let us down. Work needed but his effort was huge. 4 May. Stopped any influence from Hipwood. Continues to be our defensive General. 3 Langdon. Good run and carry. Hit targets. I think they could use him more. 2 Salem. Steady. Hit targets. A good link through midfield. 1 Gawn Not a big influence but his second effort was good. Needs protection from umps and teammates. Lions were physical on him all night. apologies - Lever was good again. Now in form and key part of defence. Lockhart has a good game. Solid. Trac was okay but was perhaps expecting more. Maybe a vote. Melksham can at least kick straight unlike a few others (Weideman!!!! ).
  10. He was okay. Defended as needed. Stays in but you could see him struggle under pressure. Not smart. Needed to clear the area not pickup the footy when under pressure.
  11. This figures are guess-timates. I’ve seen about 80-90 contracts in my work capacity in the past 10 years. The contracts are formed on the criteria of - Base salary. ie. If you get injured and play zero games , you still get this amount - match payments (AFL, VFL) - number of matches played in season . Example: if you play more than 10 games, if you play more than 20 games - performance based. Club best and fairest - awards based. A play like Brayshaw would be on base $250k then around $15000 a match. If he played 20 matches and finished say 8-10th in B&F, he would probably earn around $600k.
  12. Yes a highly skilled mid with pace as a running outside wing.
  13. ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY ABSOLUTELY THATS THE OBVIOUS HOPEFULLY AFL SEES COMMON SENSE
  14. I spoke to Gil. He will reschedule the Dees game to the week when we play the Bombers. 4 games in 7 days -“ Footy will find a way to get through it” he commented.
  15. Too easy. That’s the obvious ANSWER. MFC must pursue Gabba option. But Gil will probably schedule Cairns to have us travel more than anyone !!!
  16. I’d rather play Crows, Swans and Kangas right now whilst they are down. Hard to see them getting any worse !
  17. This must be based on “currently available to play” ratings. Hore, Petty and Preuss would be all around 31-33 mark in normal business. Hore especially was very good last year. I’d certainly rate all above Bedford, Spargo and Cwagner.
  18. 4 games in 14 days including two interstate trips 5 games in 20 days That would not happen to anyone but MFC. We’d better not play Swans and Giants in SYDNEY - ffs
  19. Tomlinson was my player referred to
  20. Agree MF-C. His lack of pace means the “wing” position is not really suited. He has great endurance which leads me to think of him more for CHF or possibly CHB. He’s a good mark and kick. I think his omission is concerning even after only 4 games. He got a 4 year $$$ deal.
  21. Hoping to see Jordon and Sparrow get a run in the next 3-4 games. Definitely think Sparrow is one to give a chance to show his ability. Maybe rotate Sparrow into our midfield in the Crows game in Adelaide.
  22. No rest. Our draw is definitely the hardest
  23. Deakyn Smith. He’s an okay type. Half forward. Not sure we will draft him especially if lists reduce down to 39-40.
  24. Weightman. Game 2. Ineffective. 4 possessions. Didn’t even know he was playing. 72 minutes. For a small player in wet conditions, he was completely unsighted
