Swiss Cheese Demons by Matt Rendell
Yes. That was at start. He said he has a coffee regularly with Jason Taylor and that he would get a whack off JT for labeling us a Swiss Cheese list. Also started being concerned by our lack of youth. But then he addressed how many good players we have and that Jacko, Pickett and Rivers were excellent. At the end, I think the Swiss cheese label was not founded, like a Trump election fraud claim.

Swiss Cheese Demons by Matt Rendell
In the end the view was actually quite optimistic. Rendell stated that as we just missed the final 8, he sees improvements and the stars in our midfield are still only in their early to mid 20s and heading into their prime. SOS saw our two-way running as the key weakness and Damien Barrett saw our port delivery into the forward 50 as a key issue. In terms of game plan and execution, they are both correct.

Swiss Cheese Demons by Matt Rendell
Rendell underwent his analysis of the Dees list. I don’t think he is fully across our list but provided some interesting conversation. Why Swiss Cheese? “Our list has holes through it” 1- “Their Kids under 22. Jackson will be a star. Oliver yes. Rivers good. Weideman yes. Pickett will be a star. Sparrow showed a bit. Petty yes but hadn’t really played. Perhaps light on and need more kids”. (imv yes - that what happens when you trade out for May and Lever for 3x 1st rounders. But we seem just ok for youth and will get 1-2 good kids this year). 2. “Key defender - Steven May super year. Lever much better. Tomlinson ok. Tmc and OMc to be out. Petty might be ok so need an extra key back “. (imv agree as a plan B in case May gets an injury. Perhaps use a pick 63 on recycled tall back) 3. key forwards - “now ok with Ben Brown coming onboard. Weideman gets 2nd best defender is ok. Brown Weideman Jackson as 3 key talls”. (yes no issue here and probably add in Mitch Brown as that plan B option) 4. Small forwards -“Pickett will be a star. Spargo. Bedford. Ok here”. (imv another pacy small forward would be handy in event Pickett needs to be managed through the year. Perhaps Bedford in that role already) 5. Defensive run - “Salem but he needs more run. Hibberd, is he even still on the list, Rivers he’s a good one. Jetta minds the smalls. So need 1-2 more backline runners”. (imv - agree - 1-2 half back/wing runners needed, and is a focus) 6 Tough Midfield inside “Viney, Oliver, Harmes, Brayshaw, Petracca, Jones and Sparrow. All ok for inside mids”. (absolutely agree) 7. Breaking midfield runners - “Langdon good but needs work on disposal. Perhaps needs a Treloar. “ (Imv definitely the priority need. Rendell failed to mention our quest for Isaac Smith or potential to go for Tom Phillips) 8. Ruck “With Preuss leaving, Dees need backup behind Gawn. Jackson not ready. Yes Andrew Phillips would be ok, fill the need”. (agree a plan B ruckman is needed just in case Maxy cops an injury or needs a break)

Welcome to Demonland - Pick 43 & Future Rd 4 Pick
Mahoney said “We believe 43 is a versatile type, who can play at either end of the ground, good running and strong at the contest. Very good year and should develop through the AFL system”.

Biden to win Nevada and Arizona and Georgia.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Give away next years pick is to pickup the benefit of Brown now but delay the cost. Next year we will do better and push to the top 6. Back yourself in. I’m not giving up our 2nd round this year. We can leverage it to negotiate and go higher in the order.

Dees Biggest Trade Hits & Misses
Neeld. That name. I’m still angry.

Welcome to Demonland - Pick 43 & Future Rd 4 Pick
I think the Dees thought we were getting Noah Answerth. We swap you pick 53 and future 3rd round for your future 4th round AND THAT NUMBER 43.

First big news of the draft

Quinton Narkle
Yes. And I think a 3 year contract would give us the leverage. MFC 3rd round pick at 53ish gets it done. Screw those flea ridden old Cats.

The wrong Phillips imv

Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
I think it’s more about shedding Tmc $$$. If he stays , we probably can’t add too much in terms of players costing us $$$.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
That’s a good option. Definitely should strongly push that.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
I’m favouring a likely MFC Future 2021?2nd round for Brown. Let’s see what happens. Kangas effectively told him to go seek another club then seem to want a 1st round pick. That’s Dodoro like behavior!

Tom Phillips - Outside Skills and Speed
I’m not judging yet but it’s clear that the Pies consider him expendable and Phillips is looking elsewhere. We are a great option as he can immediately fit in in the left hand side wing. I like Oscar Baker but he has hardly cemented a place and we need to get more run into our midfield. Clearly that’s not coming from within as shown in 2019 and 2020. It seems we are happy to “see what happens” rather than be aggressive like the Saints. Mediocrity is acceptable ? What happened to “ruthless”!!??!!??!! No sign yet of that!!!!!

The Andrew Phillips Thread
Break glass in terms of emergency. It seems we are destined to lose Preuss which I understand because he is AFL standard and deserves a go to be number 1 ruckman. I agree we have Gawn and then only a raw Jackson and a very raw Bradtke. If Gawn needs a break or cops an injury, we need a backup mature ruck type. If Andrew Phillips is available, then ok on a 1-year deal. Another strong option is Lewis Pierce 25yo (DFA delisted by Saints end 2019).

Rumour only file ...
Biden to win Nevada and get to 270. Rumour is court cases to go on for several weeks and recounts likely. Winners are lawyers who continue to fill their suitcases full of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

2020 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow
Definitely showed enough in his game time. Like a young Todd Viney. He has the ability at the contest and to rotate through with Trac, Viney , Oliver, Brayshaw and Harmes. I see him starting on the bench for majority of games in 2021 but getting increased time where required.

Farewell Braydon Preuss
Definitely push to get Giants pick 31

Projected Best 22's 2021
BINGO!!!! As it stands , with Ben Brown in, this is best 22. emergencies - Anb (unlucky to miss out) Lockhart, Jones, Jetta

Quinton Narkle
Surely we can mount a strong case. If Cats grab Smith and Higgins, there is no room for Narkle to push ahead as they will be given priority. With Hannan and Bennell moving out, we have an opening for Narkle to compete with Melksham, Vandenburg and Harmes across half forward.
