List changes who do we cut, trade or go after.

McIntosh. Ok. Provided he was dirt cheap. Like pick 60+. -
WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON

We’ll wait and see. Interesting to see how he goes on the wing. I have Langdon in the other wing position. I think he’s a good addition because of his experience and versatility. Has strength and size to play chf or CHB But even more important is his footskills. -

2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Good to see Darcy Cassar get a mention. Has AFL class written all over him. Saw him as a 17yo and thought of a similar edge to Mitch Duncan. He’s not your primary mid but is very classy, strong runner, determined and skilled. If available at a pick 32-35, he’d definitely be worth a call out. -
No. In 25 languages.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON

Versatility is what he brings. I think he’ll be called upon as a key forward or key back. I think he could actually make a very good CHF with his endurance, strength, marking and he’s a very good kick. -

Langdon for pick 22 is fair. He is and will be a very good pickup. Has the outside run that we desperately need. -
WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON

Tomlinson is 194cms. 96 kgs. From seeing him live v Pies and from highlights, his a key position type player. Not quick. Good skills. Good contested mark. Good kick for goal. That’s the CHF or CHB type. He can be a versatile pickup who can play backup ruck. Good get. But not as a wingman. Langdon helps us with outside run and carry. -
If he can get back to the pace, tackling pressure and goal sense of 2017, he would be a steal. His intensity is very good. Something lacking in our prior small forwards.

Agree maybe Mahoney was keeping the $$$ aside for Elliott.

I’ve seen this footage. He runs off a lazy forward. He’s not a wingman. Watch the finals where he comes on off the bench as a relief ruck. He’s brought in to play key position and definitely not wing. -
Close the thread as expected

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ADAM TOMLINSON

Tomlinson was a key forward at under 18s with elite endurance 194cms 96 kg No one should say he is being brought in for outside run. He’s a key position player. -
I agree Langdon over Jones. But I’d rather Jones than Tomlinson. If we have to push out Frost, then perhaps to punt on getting Zak Jones might have been understood. Obviously Zak Jones does not want to play alongside his brother in a final season for our Jonesy.

We are probably 3rd in line right now. He fits our need for a quality small forward.

Why in other posts and in this, why are people saying “ Langdon and Tomlinson address outside run “. Langdon. Absolutely. Pace. Run. Good 75/25 disposal efficiency. Tomlinson. Big. 6”4’. Slow. Played reserve ruck in Giants finals. More suited to Chf/CHB. He is no wingman. No outside runner. We will likely get Tomlinson in on a 4-yr $500k a year deal. But he doesn’t address outside run. Maybe plugs the hole left in key defence by the pushout on Frost. -
I read through the Top 10 B&F at all the clubs. Frost is probably the only top 10 player not being retained or offered a contract. It’s madness. Pace. Strength. Tackling. Spoils. Shutdown. Clearly had an excellent year. Played all 22 games. Fit. Key defender with abilities not easy to find. Sure he has a few clangers. So did quite a few others. He gets the footy. He needs coaching. We have 9 coaches. Surely one must be able to solve this small puzzle. That’s why Clarko will back himself. Frost and May would be an excellent backline pair. Lever to be the 3rd tall as he did at the Crows. That works. Lever struggles as a key defender. Surely Omcd is not the answer. Had a shocker of a year after so many gifted games. No pace. No strength. Safe 15 metre sideways passes. It cannot be footy. It must be $$$. We must be clearing room for Tomlinson and potentially Elliott. (Assume Lewis $$ goes to fit in Langdon). That’s the only thinking. To not even offer a contract but let him look elsewhere. As I have said, if your employer doesn’t want you, you have to look elsewhere. Lots of confused supporters. Lots of confused ex-player footy media experts. Its a bizarre decision that really only Goody knows the reason.
-
Young would not be a small defender. At 188cms more likely a 3rd tall half back quarterback type.
-
17th place. That’s the state of play. Whatever the plan, it’s a mountain to climb. I hope our faith in Mahoney is better placed than it ended up being with Cameron Schwab.
-
Agree. Pies still favourites to retain him. Lions would be probably ahead of Dees if he was leaving. Mahoney didn’t seem too excited other than to say we have a 3 year offer. Maybe it’s just Elliotts management angles to push up the Pies to offer him 3 years.
-
Agree. It is MFC telling Frost he’s not wanted. In any workplace, once you are not wanted, you might as well go elsewhere. Disappointing.

Hill is off to the Saints -
What will hawks give us ? Pick 30 ?? Tim O’Brien might be discussed.
-
Agree. If Lions offer 3 years then he may prefer the sunshine state over us. Hard to believe 12 months ago.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
spirit of norm smith replied to tallstuey's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree that we need to look beyond Tmcd and Weideman. Both “can” be our two key forwards but the list needs a depth key forward. In the draft , Jake Riccardi, winner of the Round-Forhergill medal for best young player in the VFL- would be an excellent choice. 194cm agile CHF type. Only 20 but very promising. I watched him v Casey and in the finals game against Box Hill. Will take a good summer in the gym. Other options for JT are - Charlie Dean (Sandringham under 18s). Impressive youngster who trained with Dees last summer. Could be drafted anywhere between 25-30 or 45-55. More of a chf. Hopefully he is available around our pick 42ish. - Emerson Jeka. (Western under 18s). Big strong marking forward. Played v Casey and has the basics of a key forward. Could be available around the 50 mark. Strong like Hawkins type.
