  1. Good clubs back themselves to retain good players, so the only way Jesse goes is if he tells the club that's what he wants, he won't be pushed.
  2. and if we play him at casey all year we can't expect anything of worth on the trade scene can we?
  3. I disagree, Jesse has a contract so he has the right to take his time making this decision, we can't and won't force him to do anything
  4. Kicking 3 goals in the last quarter of round 1 this year and getting us over the line against the now premiership favourites to me showed that he's a game breaker but i compare this attitude to the " my girlfriends not great anyways" when you think she's going to leave you
  5. Surely they could show more respect to his family matter than going on about it on every single TV show during a very difficult time for Jesse, If it were me i'd refuse to go to the WCE simply because they've shown so little respect in stirring this up at a really bad time for him.
  6. I wonder if we could bundle him up with Dawes or Garland and see if we can get a second round pick out of them.
  7. reminds me a bit of the Tommy McDonald situation, lots of talk in the media that he was off to the Swans and the club was consistently very confident he'd say and he did.
  8. I guess it depends on if they think Weid is read, they might give Dawes one more year to cover the loss while Weid builds an AFL ready body and tank
  9. I suspect Chris Dawes fate at the club will be very closely tied to what Jesse does or what the club thinks Jesse will do at the end of next year
  10. Hawthorn were a premiership side when they lost Buddy, we haven't even made the top 8 yet..
  11. well maybe, but if that's not a factor and we think as though he will stay he's still a better option than any of those three, so missing out on 1 to get Hogan is well worth it in my opinion.
  12. Yup, i reckon your top three would be Stringer, Viney and Wines
  13. Amazing the difference some stability, a clear plan and a unified club working towards that plan can make, in my eyes it's no surprise that getting these things right is one of the most consistent themes with teams like Geelong, Hawthorn and Sydney. Peter Jackson and Glen Bartlett have been huge assets
  14. I'd say even higher, if Treloar is worth 2 first round picks, Hogan is worth that and a good young player imo
  15. Jesse will make the best decision for himself, if that's signing on long term and being part of a Demon Dynasty, awesome if it's heading home that's fine to although i'd prefer we bit the bullet now and got a trade done if he goes WCE: Jesse Hogan - Luke Shuey and pick 12 FRE: Jesse Hogan - Pick 3, (they can find another top 10 pick) and one of Weller, Blakely or Tucker
  16. Hawks need about 3 inside bulls, they're absolute rubbish at the contest.
  17. I read the same thing, but his manager said that Boyd had basically agreed to a deal and then it was pulled and they were going to re-visit it after the season, so obviously it depends on how all of that plays out, but if he leaves he'd have to be considered if we're set on bringing in an experienced player.
  18. And those are two massive errors that have cost the players a year and smashed their reputations as players and people within the footy world.
  19. I think so, if the club thinks the leadership needs boosting, he's an All Australian quality player who would come on the cheap and play the same role that won him the AA jumper for us, Hunt and co would learn heaps off him and he'd improve our side.
  20. I'd argue that Boyd is a better HBF player than any of those guys, so it improves depth, Hunt holds his spot or moves onto a wing, Hibberd same thing i think it'd be okay
  21. He sounds like he's smashed a dozen beers before going on, every single time!
  22. Lots of talk around us targeting an experienced player to come in and help develop and boost the leadership of the side on field before transitioning into a coaching role, i personally believe one of the best options for this going around is Boyd, All Australian this year, would re-enforce the back half and provide a steadying influence and leadership down there that we're desperately lacking He still hasn't re-signed with the Dogs for 2017 and there was talk from his manager that the offer on the table has been pulled at this time, if they can't reach an agreement i personally feel he'd be a fantastic get for the club, if he wanted to go around again. I don't mind the idea of boosting our leadership but i think we need our young mids to play as many games as possible together to get to know the habits of one another and really ingrain what we want them to do, and i worry someone like Scotty Thompson might slow that slightly by taking the spot of a young guy, where Boyd could easily play down back and allow someone like Salem to move into the middle
  23. I've said it before the players are 100% responsible for what they put in their bodies, and responsible for keeping records which they have failed to do, if 1 player could produce records suggesting they didn't cheat, the balance of probabilities would shift drastically and i suspect they wouldn't have missed a year, your opinions of the agencies involved is irrelevant, the players are 100% culpable because they failed to do something very simple, and or didn't ask questions around what they were taking to be able to keep these sorts of records.
