  1. I think as a club/list we're in a far better position to cope with life without Jesse if that eventuated, i don't think it will but our wins against Geelong and Hawthorn show that the talent on the list is good enough to cover the loss of probably any player outside Gawn
  2. I heard at work he's one that the Tigers were keen to interview for an assistant coaching role so perhaps Goody invited him for a chat as well
  3. Happy to agree to disagree Stuie, for the sake of not derailing another thread have a good one.
  4. Which just happened to be taking the biggest contract offer on the other side of the country from where he told the Lions he was returning because of homesickness. i am not saying he's a bad person, just that those actions were always going to look bad from the outside, you just keep missing that point, How would you feel if Jesse Hogan requested a trade to Perth because he was homesick, and then signed with the Sydney Swans?
  5. you're a nuffy stuie, i haven't bashed him at all, just saying it isn't a great look from the outside, i reckon most would agree with that.
  6. I am saying the Brisbane Lions obviously wouldn't have thought very highly of those actions, and when hiring a new employee the manner of which they leave previous employment can give you a fair indication into their character, from the outside, it doesn't look great. Homesickness is a very different thing to going in search of the biggest contract,
  7. But his reason that he gave the Lions when he told them he was leaving was homesickness and he wanted to return to his family, then took a bigger contract in Melbourne, i think his point stands to a point,
  8. I do agree that an older guy like this does take the spot and potentially hinder the development of one of our young guys, but i also feel leadership is a huge issue we have that needs to be addressed, if Goody is talking to these guys he clearly feels we're totally lacking in on field leadership, i suspect that'll be a big focus next year, trying to develop leadership so we don't drop games we should win
  9. The club B&F is always interesting given it's based on what the coaches want from the players which is often quite different from what the outside public wants/ thinks is a quality game, I personally think any of the top 5 would have been a deserving winner this year.
  10. Clearly Goody really wants to get the leadership side of things right, i suspect sorting that will go a long way to the side becoming consistent, i thought Dal Santo played some pretty solid footy this year and he's a beautiful user of the ball
  11. Do ya reckon he's on his phone and just laughing at Demonland going nuts over it? hahahahahahahhaha
  12. Apparently going to try his hand as a professional surfer with Harmsy
  13. well so far their reward for tanking is National draft pick 1. Pre Season draft pick 1 ( huge card in the O'meara chase.) the chance to expose young players without the concern of a win-loss ratio, special rules to ensure they can retain not on their primary list, but any top ups who impressed before opposition clubs can get a crack. in my opinion they should have been no part in the draft last year or this year, this is a club that was found guilty of cheating, and they've come out in a far better position than they went in.
  14. He signed for some huge amount, i suspect if any club is to take Hamish the Power would still need to foot 50% of the bill, he's simply not worth the big dollars he's on based on current output, i think he has talent and could be worth that if he played at his absolute best consistently but it hasn't happened yet.
  15. His best form yes, any less it'd be touch and go, and picking up a contract like he's on would be a bit of a risk.
  16. I wonder if this might prompt a change of tact, and result in Prestias offer being taken off the table and Pick 6 being used at the draft where it should be
  17. I suspect Harlett will go to the Giants who have plenty of picks and where he'd be an icing on the cake type and his weapons will become more dangerous
  18. Not sure the draft is all that strong this year, probably as good a year as any to not have a first round pick. reckon this kid will be alright though, not super impressed that he'll be at Essendon and not the Lions but that's a totally different conversation
  19. I agree, it will be very interesting to see where he ends up, i am guessing with no degree of confidence that it'll probably be the Saints scratch that: Stevo reckons it's down to 2, Essendon or Hawthorn.
  20. Gil is just digging himself holes all over the place mate, the fact Essendon have the number 1 draft pick is a joke, Brisbane Lions lose access to an absolute jet of a player because Essendon cheated.
  21. Absolutely mate, but they hold the #1 PSD pick and that's a huge card in this situation, the suns have plenty of picks and i suspect they'll be asking for established players
  22. I still reckon Essendon would grab him in the PSD and back themselves to get him right but god it's turned south on him if he's failed a medical
