  1. if Garlands injury does hold him back it will possibly open the door for Georgio, but we need to draft another tall defender for depth.
  2. I know how much pressure he has had to handle over his career and perhaps when we develop a midfield the pressure will be released some what from our defenders and they will be able to get creative or fine tune their games, he is loyal and loves playing for the club.
  3. I was referring to our list, not performances in 2013. In 2013 the majority of our top ten most important players were sidelined, as you would know. For example I would regard Jack Viney as a more important player for our club compared to Garland. I see him as our 3rd best defender.
  4. In the midfield with Watts......?
  5. I remember him playing on Betts multiple times .....and he was beaten every time, by that I mean Betts kicked 4 or 5 goals and won the game for Carlton, but that was probably Neeld's idea
  6. like I said at the start of my last post, he will be a very handy experienced player, but you can't build a team or a backline around him. But he has been loyal to the red and blue, and we all respect that despite what opinion we have of him as a player on the field.
  7. When we start winning Garland will be a very handy experienced player, but he won't be the game winner/game breaker and I don't think he will be our most important defender, assuming Frawley stays (now he is an important player to us!) and I expect Tom McDonald to be more important than Garland in years to come. I have nothing against Garland, he is a loyal well respected player, but I honestly hate the way he plays 90% of the time. I think he lacks mongrel and hardness. He is the one player who I would like to trade because I can not see us winning a premiership with him and would prefer him to be an opponent. I know this is deep, but it is honestly what I have thought for a long time.
  8. Garland is not in the top ten of our most important players in my opinion. He is not a game winner. He is replacable.
  9. Where is Byron Pickett when you need him....
  10. If we only win 5 games this year mate, there is a good chance I won't renew my membership! 5 wins is a failed year, sure it is better than 2 but it's a long way off 'competitive'!!!
  11. A fella I know, caught up with him for a couple froffs the other night, has followed Michie. He thinks I will like him a lot says he's hard at it like Viney and he was a great pick up. This guy knows his footy.
  12. It is that simple, he's had opportunity and been injury free, stop making excuses for him.
  13. Everyone knows that player development at Collingwood has been much better compared to ours So, if Collingwood had of drafted Watts you think he would be up there with Pendlebury and the best mids right now, What exactly do you base this comment on? Actually, don't bore me with your coulda shoulda woulda been dribble. Get it, Collingwood wouldn't of drafted him, they wouldn't have chosen him...he's not their type.
  14. Thats just fkn stupid. Coulda shoulda woulda been.
  15. McQueen, it doesn't matter whether he is compared to Selwood or Pendlebury. If he is playing in the midfield these guys will be his nearest opponents, and with his lack of experience playing against these types it could be a tough job for Watts. I will be glad to see him give it a go but his fitness will be challenged considering the defensive two way running which is required. You believe he has the tools to be as good as Pendlebury...if that is to be the case he will need to learn an elite inside and outside game with the ability to show poise with the ball in hand and the ability to find away through traffic and his tackling ability and core strength will have to improve. One area which I think Watts could compare to Pendlebury is the ability to be a goal scoring midfielder. But apart from that...let's be honest it's never going to happen. Only Watts can help himself.
  16. Tackles in our attacking 50 statistic......? Just putting it out there....
  17. I've got a feeling he is a bit soft to play midfield, players like Selwood will make him look like a girl. Then what do we do with him, he has tried forward, back....I say play him where we drafted him......forward.
  18. Byrnes.
  19. I am sure it was a serious question, because he was probably sucked in by Neeld's bs and expected change and now takes a point of view that anything is possible and will wait until round 1 because then we will all know if these blokes are serious or not.
  20. take your word for it. 5-0 that's scary.
  21. Thanks for the memories Neeldy. END
  22. Should I ask Brent Moloney what he thinks?
  23. So if we have about 13/14 inside 50's each quarter and kick about 25 points then we should be competitive.....will remember that for next year, thanks C&B. but that's just one of many statistics that we struggle in our possession differential to our opponents would have been huge compared teams in the top 8. Basically we are at rock bottom and we can only get better with all statistics.
  24. Predicted half way through January, based on last years efforts. St Kilda without Mcevoy and Dal Santo and Milne looks winnable even at this early stage.....I would say 3-2 not 5-0
