smart goal by Schache
-
the budget for Dingley is $130M so they'll need a lot more
-
Not to mention waiting for the late edition of the morning newspaper so you could get the scores if interstate or in the bush

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
Diamond_Jim replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
IIRC he kicked 1:4 or thereabouts the previous week so quite an exciting prospect as many have mentioned Early days but it should make following Casey in 2023 very enjoyable -
Tim English is the perfect second ruck/forward/round the ground player. Why they went after Lobb instead of a middle level experienced ruck to support English I don't understand.
-
Bulldogs need to win this one. Mitch Hannan is the sub

The irony is that the height of the religious day for Good Friday is 3pm. Ceremonies are over by 4pm. The absence of a night game ???
-
Speaking of theme songs I'm a little surprised that the French Government haven't made noises about the use of their national anthem as a footy club tune. The French are usually a little touchy over such things... Camembert anyone ??
-
Thought the same. Pies were up and running in that last quarter by comparison to Lions who looked to be hanging on. Play that game again on the MCG it's probably a Pies win
-
That ruck dominance starting to show
-
Fascinating game. Brisbane making mistakes under pressure but hanging in. My interest is whether and how they take advantage of their ruck dominance. Some good signs so far but nothing spectacular
-
Assuming Pickett for Brown then who is the sub? I'm a bit surprised that they went with such an experienced bunch of emergencies. Thought perhaps one of the younger lads might have got a look in... Laurie or even AMW Going to make the Casey V Frankston game very interesting
-
Coldest Easter in 80 years predicted for Melbourne on Sunday. Some of those will be happy to be in a nice warm Perth rather than at Casey even if only as an emergency

Noticed that the Swans easily pierced our set zone defence on two occasions in the same manner. Swans player marks 65 metres out. We set up in two lines of three at about 45 and 30. Swans player on two occasions darted into the 15 metre gap between the two lines, marked and goaled. On one play he came in laterally from the boundary being left alone because where standing he was a low percentage receiver. On the other I think the player came from about the same distance out as the kicker. Definitely set plays

Don't quite understand how it helps replace injured player X if X is retained on the list and no salary cap relief. The existing mid season draft is a last chance saloon for non AFL players. That makes sense. Some more detail would be good
-
Lot of sense in that approach. Traditionally the sub of old was young fresh legs. Would not surprise me if we see Gawn and Grundy sharing the sub role between them as the season grinds on post bye
-
My guess is that the lack of recognised ruckmen will not worry the Pies this evening. I'd like to think it would be close but Pies by 50 plus. Can you stop them.... Some have said they will tire. Others say tag Daicos but they have the streaming forward game down to perfection
-
Pity it's not at Frankston. Lovely ground. Mind you the local supporters rival the Port supporters of yesteryear

In reality for most of our game you should be able to move seats easily. Not sure how you can do it but if they are going to persist with double headers you may need to rethink ticketing. One way is to use the Wimbledon system. *If you leave Wimbledon you get a pass out which you give to the Salvation army or similar on exit. They then sell the passout for ten quid. This would give perhaps an extra ten thousand seats for the second game and the charity gets $100k plus. If you reversed the order of the two games and put the more popular one first you might even get a better result. Combine with some entertainment in the park and you have an event * Not sure if Wimbledon still operates on this system. I was there in the early 2000's

2017 loss to the Essendon VFL side cost us a finals berth. That side's only win for the year as I recall it. I like to think flakey performances like that are behind us

By comparison to the last few years of inaction it's almost cyclonic in its revelations but I can understand your concerns. Co-incidentally Moonee Valley race club unveiled its works plan yesterday. Very similar to Caulfield but perhaps not as big
-
Caulfield is a sensible location but with everything the devil is in the detail. As a minimum it will solve the issue of close location of admin and football but will it deliver what is considered the norm for new training facilities.. second oval, pool gym, undercover training area etc etc My guess is we will be sharing a lot of these. The other issue is cost. Who pays. Do we get a peppercorn rental and we develop the facilities. Long term these are important issues as they impact our ability to compete financially with other clubs all of which have different arrangements. Great to see some movement
