CASEY: Rd 20 BYE
It's bye 2 that I have difficulty with. You have 18 games for all clubs and you have completed the fist bye. Then you have five games in which to complete the second bye for all clubs. You could accelerate the second bye for some clubs but then you would have a ladder for a lot of the year where some clubs have played 2 games less than others. Of course if you drop the last five clubs out of the comp after the completion of 18 games you don't need a second bye.

What they are saying at Arden Street
I remember my younger days along the River Spey. Had a chat with a guy about the cost of fishing. Even then it was phenomenal with a big extra charge if you caught one. Reminds me of an old contract for friendly navies using the US Naval gun firing range off Hawaii. So much per day but an extra $200k if you hit the target !!! I guess you were supposed to just miss

The 2023 AFL Fixture
Now that Lance F has retired and assuming Sydney can't make the 8 there will probably be little interest in our match. I like Saturday early afternoon but we'll see

Kayo is a great service but it's dying as sports are cherry picked by other streaming services. My guess is that F1 will be the next to go when that deal is up for renewal. For those having difficulties with Kayo blame your ISP or more likely your home wifi. Unlike movie streaming services kayo buffers only about 30 seconds of program. Movies might buffer 2 minutes or more. If your wifi suffers a minor outage which you would generally never notice while browsing or streaming TV the impact on a live sports stream is almost immediate. The answer is FTTP and a mesh router. You'll never have a problem with buffering again

Aliir Aliir & Lachie Jones in Concussion Protocol
Sorry the trigger for the first test is a simple visual check of the TV footage. Even if not clear the duty of the health professional is to err on the side of caution. It's medical care 101... not brain surgery (deliberate pun)

What they are saying at Arden Street
that's a good discussion point and relevant to teams like MFC ever catching the big boys. There is no doubt that North of old were an entertaining and successful team. Why did they not catch on whereas Hawthorn did ? Was it simply the weight of premiership numbers or was there something else

Farewell Brodie Grundy
If Collingwood won't pay their approx 300k per year I doubt there's a trade. No ones offering Grundy $1M per year and if you are Grundy are you prepared to forego $1M (the Collingwood subsidy) over the next 3 years

Aliir Aliir & Lachie Jones in Concussion Protocol
In NRL the NRL can call a player off for tests using footage at the bunker. Not sure if there's a doctor in the bunker but it's an easy system in the sense that the trigger is a simple visual assessment of head contact. Not exactly rocket science

Aliir Aliir & Lachie Jones in Concussion Protocol
yeah but half of them could have barracked for the Suns... not to mention all those people camping on the Tweed Heads border

Aliir Aliir & Lachie Jones in Concussion Protocol
There's talk of a $50k fine out of their soft cap. If so that's light. IIRC we got a $50k fine for Harley Bennell leaving quarantine camp in 2020

Have we officially found our full forward?
Not sure he's big and strong enough. I thought he was more a Lever type player. Injuries to him and D Smith make it hard to get a consistent feel for their form at VFL level

What they are saying at Arden Street
For years North were our bogey team. When we were notionally strong and they were mid table it was usually a loss. I'm not feeling much sympathy but I can understand their pique with losing Horne Francis

Have we officially found our full forward?
True but (is there not always a but) we might need to find a new May as well for 2025. At the same time Bulldogs desperately need new key backmen. It could be a hard search

What They Are Saying at Punt Road
This post is quite reasoned but has that touch of despair that we MFC fans know so well.... I can't take the blatant cheating, it's too much. It was terrible coaching and team selection. How JR8 can continue to play is beyond me, he is offering nothing. Why wasn't Cumberland selected after kicking 6 last week? We are screaming out for goal kickers and he is not there. Banks made too many errors, we need to give Hugo a run of games. Pickett needs to go back to the wing, Ross on the other wing and I would play KMac as a forward he would be 1000x better than Jack. Cotch can retire himself now he has been average It's season over, I can't see us winning many games from here on.

What They Are Saying at Punt Road
Well They certainly don't like the umpires and the coach aka Mini is on the nose (mention of not having a plan B....where have we heard that before)

PREGAME: Rd 21 vs North Melbourne
Very much agree. It's an obvious move and one we complained about when not made last year. A harder decision would be resting May and playing Tomlinson and Smith down back. I'd give Schache a go as sub simply because he covers back and forward and ruck (not fantastically well perhaps) Harmes, Hibberd, Spargo Jordon Woewodin... I'll leave to the selection committee
