  1. All good young man.... hope you enjoy the win !!!
  2. That area shows tickets at $51 but perhaps they sell some cheapies to surround the cheer squad thus acting as a buffer to opposing supporters... makes sense PS I just did some more clicking and sure enough just behind the goals at one end there are seats at $18-$51. I see that when you click around on areas up on level 3 in the away section it is showing seats from $11. Plus of course the most expensive printing fee ever of $8 !!!! (When is the ACCC going to have a go at these guys)
  3. Am I one of the few people in the world who has never heard an Adele song Until she had her disagreement with Spotify I had never heard of her I obviously should get out more PS Is she like Sherbet ?
  4. Must say it seems a bit light price wise binman the link below is to the AFL seat pricing for this game and it shows the lowest price being general admission at $25 http://www.afl.com.au/tickets/seat-pricing-guide perhaps email the club... I would hate for you to rock up and miss out or spend an hour in the queue and miss our 10 goal to nil match winning first quarter !!
  5. Good to see a little resistance 13 runs behind ...... 20 minutes until tea on the last day and six wickets in hand the next hour's play will be fascinating As an aside... I know we don't play Khawaja because of his difficulty with spin ... but Warner's tour has been diabolical
  6. Ah... remember their first ground manager.... who famously said .... "no more walk ups... the people will have to get used to buying tickets in advance". I think he lasted a month before he was moved on
  7. Actually it is up against qualifying 5pm- 6pm which is probably the most exciting part of Formula 1 bar the first lap
  8. The disappointing thing is the traditional vision impaired Frederick could have seen this coming. What makes it worse is that the Adele concerts were only organised and approved for Etihad AFTER the AFL took full ownership and management of the venue. They have no one else to blame. Of course the venue hire fees would have been useful but it's time they put in place some non discretionary criteria such as no events within X weeks of a football game that involve useage of the the turf.
  9. One really has to be concerned about the Etihad surface https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/mar/20/doubts-persist-over-gabba-pitch-five-days-out-from-aflw-grand-final The Adele concert in Brisbane was on 4 March !!! "The AFLW grand final between Brisbane and Adelaide will be played at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast after the Gabba pitch was deemed unsuitable to host the inaugural title decider. Brisbane finished top of the ladder to claim hosting rights but the playing surface at the Gabba was damaged by an Adele concert earlier this month to such an extent that an alternative venue had to be found."
  10. Must say I share dawi's view on the use of apps on the mobile phone. It just seems that smart phones are set up for apps and where you go through the web you seem to have more lag, page set up issues etc that are not there with a well designed app. That being said websites are far more powerful and readable than apps when it comes to using a desktop/laptop Oh the problems of the first world Keep up the good work on Demonland..... love it
  11. The other problem with Etihad is that they gave all the prime seats to the Medallion club who more often than not do not turn up for Melbourne games. Viewing from ground level is not optimal and the higher level above the Medallion club area is less than perfect. Perhaps I am too used to the MCG where as an AFL member I can sit on level 3 in the winter sunshine and have a whole section of the stand to myself (Ah the joys of being an anti social MFC supporter.. or is it an easier way to deal with defeat.... I was different in the '80's and '90's and enjoyed the arrogance of the crowd.... Oh what is must be to be a Hawthorn supporter) ... but I digress
  12. The old way of playing the second ruck was from the bench. With interchange rules the bench became a mid field resting zone and there was not much room in the rotations for a ruckman on the bench. With decreased interchange perhaps there is now room for Spencer to be a bench ruckman. Gawn to the forward line while Spencer rucks and then Spencer to the bench while Gawn rucks. One also has to be realistic about what we are trying to achieve with Spencer. Is it just nullifying the other ruck and allowing others who could have played the spot (Watts) to be more damaging. The problem is that there is no real position anymore of "resting" in the forward pocket for a ruckman .... perhaps we could re-invent it
  13. Three or so years ago we thought we had a great back line but no forward line and a very average midfield At least this year we look like having two out of three !
  14. Jurrah was very special If he had continued.. and we built a successful team around him...he would have added another 10,000 to our membership I went to a Box Hill VFL game just to watch him Anyway back to Allen J .... those videos remind me of the importance of leading ...but just by a metre or two.. he wasn't a great overhead mark like Neitz but his one on one was spectacular Now.... imagine him today..... where and how would you play him??????
  15. He was of course constantly compared to his brother (Glen Jakovich). They played on each other in a final. And he even gave his brother a kiss after kicking a goal on him during an MCG home and away match. His approach to football could not have been any more different than that of his brother. Come to think of it the MFC has had its fair share of colourful footballers over the years.
  16. As you say a real issue. And then there are the byes (only two this year I think) Add in our interstate games (two of which are our own fault) where players are taken as emergencies plus any where the VFL game is played before or close in time to the AFL game thus again taking emergencies out of play and one can see how hard it is for players on the fringe to get real game time
  17. There could be something in this .... Bermuda triangle or Sargasso sea effect perhaps Of course we could tweak the little GPS units the players wear so they think they are going the other way.... or perhaps invite Rudi whateverhisnamewas to address the players
  18. The overwhelming bulk of finals games are played at night and have been for some years. Twilight is neither here nor there.... let's just bite the bullet and play the game at night........
  19. 20 years old or so this show.... minimal change in format.... a child of pre- internet days.... time for it to be laid to rest like World of Sports and World Championship Wrestling Free to Air TV is so struggling for relevancy..... wait I have an idea.... how about a cooking competition between AFL clubs... even better add in some other codes .. the mind is boggling .... now how to add a dating element and then we are set for the stratosphere
  20. Well it seems we might have a twilight grand final in 2017 From a personal viewpoint it does not worry me but why not go the full hog and make it a 7pm start https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2017/mar/16/broad-acceptance-from-afl-fans-over-twilight-grand-final-proposal "A twilight AFL grand final seems increasingly certain for 2017, with an announcement to be made within days of next weekend’s opening round. AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan said there was now “broad acceptance” from fans for the move, with several AFL captains including Scott Pendlebury, Nat Fyfe and Joel Selwood also offering support."
  21. Cannot understand the "negative waves" re the game against the Saints. While we have not beaten them for a while they have not thrashed us and we had better be a 4-5 goal better team this year. If we lose it will be because our game plan does not work and we leak easy goals. Very concerned that Jetta may not be playing.... not because of the player himself but rather it could (and I emphasise the word "could") be another example of a senior player going by the wayside just at a time when they should be really producing. Let's face it the Demons have got little value out of the bulk of their senior players for far too many years now... Garland, Trengrove, Grimes, Dunn, Dawes, ... the list goes on
  22. Do you have to book those seats (AFL reserve) or do you just show your AFL membership card. If I recall the seating was closer to the fifty metre line than the wing but I could very well be wrong
  23. GWS..... premiers forever.... that will make AFL happy ......... they would be even happier if Brisbane and GCS could snag a premiership or two Did you notice that notwithstanding the opening round being played over many days ... we won the graveyard shift of Saturday twilight and just for good measure up against qualifying session for the Melbourne GP
  24. I think we would all die happier but I shall not hold my breath
  25. Take away the footy and you have cricket and soccer with a bit of basketball. The cricket this season was lacklustre and due to its early start (date wise) and short tours was difficult to embrace. SEN soccer coverage is great but it is not prime time. Basketball... well it isn't mainstream Perhaps they should take a leaf out of Smooth FM's book and just play music over summer with the occasional extended sports reports.
