Plenty of time but are we good enough
-
Time to win. First quarter disappointing North are a bottom 6 team so these are the ones we must win
-
Wins against North and St Kilda were two of my key measurements for improvement this year. Very confident about today.
-
on twitter Kingy on Pies: They only have to play at 60% to win tonight on the Pies. They were great last week and should've won that game #CrunchTime
-
Link to Tiger fan site please....Much more fun than tonight's matches methinks
-
the Orange Men do it again Now... top of the ladder with Adelaide to play tonight
-
Dogs footy relies on rugby scrum like pressure Nothing against the Dogs but I would hate to see it become the norm

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 9
Diamond_Jim replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
not if you believe some of the posts on the "are we a contender thread" -
Develop a great e game only with Dees as the team v various visitors Give it free to members and then have play offs with a big $$$ win Have the e tournaments played pre game Watch the numbers grow.... could be world wide within a few years if the$$ pot is big enough Think online poker tournaments etc problem ... how to own and protect the space
-
didn't we have a poll on a similar thread before the Hawthorn game and we know what happened there
-
As others have mentioned in the thread this year could be a repeat of 1990 That year there were no stand out teams and drawn finals meant that lower teams (Dees included) had a break during the finals FWIIW I believe GWS is potentially a rung above the rest if and when it gets its act together If we win the next three I will get mildly excited about our prospects
-
as they say............. "we ain't done nothing yet !!"
-
No change.... for once it is relatively easy will feel a little easier if I hear that Petracca is training freely. No excuses for not winning this weekend. North is on its way down and we need the win to salvage this annus horribilis
-
that does not cover the cost of the first game. (Think stadium works , travel staff etc) For it to work they need a minimum of five years including AFL money.
-
The Darwin game is terrible from a team viewpoint but by comparison to a game in heat in China it is a gentle paddle down the Todd River !! I think it has already been posted but as the Gold Coast is fully funded by the AFL the idea of the GC going to China to make money from a game funded by the AFL (Port don't pay the lot by any stretch) is weird. I love Asia but it is not a place for AFL

The What Do You Think of the New Clash Guernsey Poll
Diamond_Jim replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Essendon's is grey if I recall with a red sash Not what I would call a clash jumper in the viewing sense. Collingwood's is a joke. The colours need to be from a different spectrum along with the design. Remind me who runs the AFL ? -
The What Do You Think of the New Clash Guernsey Poll
Diamond_Jim replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
If it means that the teams can be easily distinguished I am in favour of the clash guernseys. Other sports have had them for donkey's years. Collingwood, Essendon etc need to be pulled into line big time on this simple issue -
Completely understandable WJ but it does raise the problem as I mentioned earlier that it is hard for the players to obtain/maintain AFL standard if the VFL team lacks structure. Nothing can be done about it other than to hope next year is better from an injury viewpoint. Re the players that replaced the drafted players I would be interested to know how does the salary cap work for an aligned club and are we considered a"good club" among the other aligned clubs from a destination viewpoint. PS: On the other hand during the 70's and 80's when we never made finals I can remember some good reserves teams so perhaps it is just cyclical. (Remember Keogh.. won the medal for the reserves comp twice !!)

The moment I saw it memories of Jimmy Styne's accidental hit of an umpire came back. There is a positive duty to avoid the umpire.... hit him/her for any reason and you are in trouble. I'll take the fine... if I recall Jimmy was rubbed out
-
That's almost the only positive I have heard. Have they published an official attendance figure
-
interesting as it is marketed as favoured by soccer players A lot of work being done on the long term impact of heading the ball in soccer. The impact has been reduced over the years because the balls are now lighter and not water logged but it is still a concern. Not sure that it is designed for AFL type bumps but I'm certainly no expert.

Yes but in certain parts of Adelaide that is the National Anthem !!
-
If I were in Shanghai I'd be looking for the early plane home. What a one sided game
-
45 touches is a serious number of touches. Would like to see some analysis and critique but it definitely gets my attention.

Thought Gold Coast would put up a better performance. Have watched it for a few minutes on and off ... lucky they shipped in the Port 5000. Could be hard to get them to go again next year perhaps. Most interesting thing to me is the advertising hoardings. Haven't noticed much dragon dancing on the terraces. Apparently AFL have only backed it for one year ..... interesting times ahead
