  1. Tyson and Preuss seems to be a fair trade.. neither really featuring at senior level. Apparently he turned down a five year deal with Suns because he thought North had better upside https://www.zerohanger.com/dom-tyson-reveals-five-year-deal-he-turned-down-from-rival-club-25303/
  2. we have almost been the Carlton/Essendon of recent years when it comes to stinking it up in prime time spots
  3. My Orange Men are bringing it home... the petrie dish is boiling. Be positive ... if they win the GF there'll be some cast offs as they deal with their salary cap. Patton could be a negative trade (salary wise) if they want a good draft pick.
  4. gameplan....what's that not to mention selection to match an opposition.
  5. Must send the memo not to head down to Frankston for a VFL match. Colourful barracking from the city side wing based locals to say the least. Lovely venue though complete with pine trees and a glimpse of the bay not to mention the great sausage sizzle.
  6. please tell me that is photo shopped
  7. out of interest.... what is his contract situation?
  8. AFL... apparently this is the 40th venue at which the saints have played over the years. On the fixture I have gradually become in favour of 17 rounds... two byes per team (split to four games a week ) plus a bye of desired for State of Origin. Would not reduce the TV returns and I suspect would increase average attendances dramatically in Melbourne.
  9. Suns in Townsville today... one would think they would start conditioning for their move to Tasmania. Pity the Saints... Shanghai one week... Townsville the next albeit with the bye Time to move to a 17 game season and remove these fixturing oddities.
  10. those jaguar jumpers could become a collectors' item ?
  11. Watching the Copa America Kayo. (Got to use the subscription for something.) Great time zone for couch watching.
  12. Maybe it's the expectation level but I don't think I can remember a worse season as a Melbourne supporter. Sure there were injuries and other excuses but let's be honest we are just miles off the pace. Content to put 2019 down as an aberration and watch my second team otherwise known as the fantasy team (GWS) try for a flag but my MFCSS keeps warning me that 2018 may have been our high.
  13. Big game for the Toiges tonight..hoping they can do it Of course the game that has the biggest impact on us is Blues v Doggies and it isn't for the fight to make the finals !!
  14. yep I thought Preuss was a lay down misere for a game in Darwin simply on the basis that had we won (which was not an unreasonable expectation... silly me..) we needed Gawn to be relatively fresh for the QB game.
  15. Agree but I would like to review KK in three more matches. Pity that Casey have a bye just when he and JKH need some match practice.
  16. maybe but that's why you play Preuss especially for the Darwin fiasco
  17. Agree but we need to start winning before we bring in the kids. If we spiral into a second half of say seven more losses I hate to think what will occur to the confidence of this playing group. To think that at season's commencement I thought our list was stronger than that of the Pies.
  18. perhaps we should be offering vintage ports instead. Might just last for the great grandchildren.
  19. KK is at least four games at Casey away from the senior team. Personally I'd give him 6 at Casey and if he performs the last four or so at senior level. Garlett is the tough one. For me he has has another 3-4 games to show he is worth a contract extension. TBH it's hard to judge any of the forwards at present as they are all under performing. Petty needs another two or three games at some stage. We have nothing to lose experimenting with Preuss for a few games. JKH for Viney perhaps if he needs a rest.
  20. Great post... we are lucky in that we have the next ten odd matches during which we should challenge every player not to mention the coaching staff.
  21. the problem in one....hell if I know the solution
  22. You cannot get rid of Maynard, JKH and Stretch unless you want to decimate the mid field depth. One or two need to stay... they are depth
  23. Wouldn't give up on KK. Let's see what the next 6 weeks at Casey show and then perhaps the last three games at senior level if warranted.
  24. Well the positives were that Lever and May appeared to play well and can give us some confidence in the backline. The midfield failed again. I would like to see Oliver reduce his handball numbers and increase his kicking numbers. The goalkicking is a concern but I suspect it's a confidence issue. Petracca is pleasing. Still want to see some gameplan changes. Perhaps the chaos footy is affecting our skill level. There is no denying at this level the footballers are skilled but they may not have the time under this gameplan to execute those skills.
  25. Just a thought but doesn't the co captains issue just double the angst One or none is my theory. It's just an armband.... what's the sanctity of dropping the captain other than it is a admission by the coaching staff that they are not omnipotent. Time to stop being precious about such things.
