  1. Yesterday the Storm played the Eels in a knock out second semi. The Storm have been in Melbourne for 30 years and have won 5 premierships (although two were taken away) and have been runners up on no less than four occasions. They have been wooden spooners once in 2010. AAMI stadium has a capacity of 30,050. Why after 30 years of sustained success couldn't the Storm fill AAMI stadium yesterday? For the same reason the Giants will go nowhere. The AFL interest that there was in Sydney which was never great has been well catered for by the Swans who have been in Sydney for 37 years. The quaint idea that you need two local teams to provide TV interest has never been a strong argument. In fact one city teams are the norm in most sports. In short GCS and GWS will never succeed in the way we think of success.
  2. They have about thirty thousand listed members. How many would be sponsor comps I am not sure. The pre registration may have caught a lot of the three game members out. If that requirement was not there you could expect the full entitlement to be taken up. There were suggestions in the past that some of the smart money had seen Gws membership as a good way to arbitrage gf tickets
  3. will be interesting to see how many GWS members registered for the ballot (remember that last year) for GF tickets. Had forgotten about that little ticketek/AFL earner. (At least it was Cats and Magpie fans who donated this year). The feral Tiger supporters are already eyeing off the GWS ticket allocation
  4. In the OP's defence the relationship between Casey listed players and MFC could be better explained. As I understand it on most occasions the Casey group train alone and have a separate pre-season. The fact that the Casey players are part time as against the MFC listed players dictates such an arrangement. Nevertheless I would be interested to hear if that is the same with other VFL aligned/owned clubs. At the next bargaining round/TV rights deal I would not be surprised to see the VFL comp re-organised at least as one often hears that they cost a lot of money to maintain. Interesting to see that until this season WCE didn't have its own WAFL side.(Good wiki below.) https://eaglepedia.fandom.com/wiki/Reserves

Subscribed to kayo this year and was really looking forward to a change in commentators only to find that on the streaming service they take the Channel 7 coverage. Increasingly the mute button is my friend. Must say I found the Ashes commentary very enjoyable when we were winning. (Suspect that applies to many sports.)
  6. yep and our answer is to recruit Tomlinson who was hardly sighted yesterday. A good coach plays to his strengths....not sure Goodwin knows how to do that. Anyway not holding out much hope for next year unless we can get that connection and brand working. Good to see Storm bounce back yesterday but to miss six shots for extra points was unbelievable. Bit like the Wallabies in the first half against Fiji. On a related note if you want to see a coach go "nuts" in the box watch Craig Bellamy. Even when they were 22-0 he was still on edge to say the least.
  7. oh.....NO.............please
  8. definitely fat lady time !!!
  9. cannot wait for the talk back radio
  10. it'll be a sell out the supporting club allocation is so small that even GWS will take up their allocation although most will be sold on
  11. why do I fear a comeback only four goals down and this rain is fluky
  12. great netflix show about the orange people. I can remember them back at Uni.... strange people to say the least
  13. how's our man Tomlinson going?
  14. Cameron clearly held.. two easy goals to GWS not given
  15. nah.. he'll go elsewhere if the Giants don't deliver the cup. WCE perhaps?
  16. Cameron plays the way I always hoped Hogan would for us. Can goal and can play a dominant chf role when needed
  17. down 8-0 after five minutes... not the best of starts for the Wallabies
  18. a lot higher than Seventeenthmond
  19. I thought that might be it but wanted confirmation. Begs the question of why today's game was not played last night and R v G tonight
  20. Interesting.. reported in the Age that Richmond may limit their reserve players TOG in tomorrow's VFL grand final in order to keep them fresh for the AFL final. Puts the VFL comp in perspective.
  21. but what about the sacrosanct news show which so few watch. Thought they could never cut into the news. Have discovered Succession...great TV
  22. Let's face it most of us have become so used to ineptitude we would be uncomfortable with success. You have to have an alternative universe if you support MFC. Go Storm. I used to have the Redskins in NFL but for the last 20 years they have been in MFC class. Very similar demise in fact including saviour coaches and players.
  23. strange game time start.. 4:35pm Neither one thing or the other anyone know the rationale thanks
  24. Excellent first quarter. Minimal umpire input makes for a much better game Even Bruce couldn't wreck that quarter

    Let's unpack that concept
