  1. Maybe... T Mac but I expect not JVR having a good last quarter... not doing his chances any harm
  2. Casey disposal leaving a little to be desired
  3. Would have preferred to see if Schache could have slotted it without the 50 penalty
  4. Sub instead of Melksham perhaps
  5. Not much from JVR.. a glimpse from Schache but no more. Joel Smith did a little Conditions look perfect.. looking forward to the remaining three quarters
  6. 21-6 inside 50's
  7. well... not quite the first quarter we were hoping for
  8. Sounds like he's out to me.
  9. There's an 8:35 pm flight to Melbourne. I suspect it will have a few players on board unless they want to get up for 7am flight tomorrow
  10. Brisbane has changed a little from when its version of a big day out was heading into the Valley for lunch at the TC Beirne's Department store
  11. Wow... (Is there any team you like SWYL) The relocation of the Swans and the Lions is probably the best thing the AFL ever did. Agree it was tough on their Melbourne followers Everyone knows we probably still have two clubs too many in Melbourne but that fight is now dead
  12. Not delusional by any means but I wonder how many players you can have in this category and still maintain list balance. Tuck was in the days of lists of fifty plus players. Geelong is interesting. Dangerfield played 15 home and away games out of 22 last year. Assuming he was fit to play in all is that enough input. Extrapolate that to 3 players treated similarly and you have 21 games to be covered from your remaining list. Will we see veteran allowances for list sizes in future years to keep them in the game
  13. There's an article in today's Age about Pendlebury that is on point... The point of this is not to illustrate that Pendlebury is a good player. Anyone with opposing thumbs and even a passing interest in football knows that, but it is said to appreciate that he has never not been a good player. He has never stopped being a good player and, at 35, he shows no sign of going quietly into the night. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/he-could-break-the-games-record-the-remarkable-ageless-scott-pendlebury-20230322-p5cudk.html
  14. Would have been a BT Sports feed I expect. I wish the AFL would publish what it receives for overseas rights. It wont be much but I think we'd be surprised by how little it is. My guess is that they would do a lot better not relying on the foreign cable/streaming companies and upgrading the Watch AFL platform. At present Watch AFL is afterthought
  15. Had we won last year we might now be discussing the "Dynasty" word and perhaps we will in the future. Pre 2018 our list was almost unique in that we had few players in that post 27-28 years of age that you could rely upon to play a very solid game week in week out. Think North's Harvey as an example, Post 30 year old stars have often had multi years of high paid contracts and can be sensible about taking a few dollars less in the outer years. In the short term we have Gawn and May entering the over 32 zone and in the medium term we have Salem and Lever followed not that long after by Oliver and Petracca (and perhaps Brayshaw). How we manage these players individually and in a team context will to a large extent determine our success in the window beginning say three years from now. It's a pity that none are key forwards as that seems to the most common position for longevity. Not an immediate issue but if we want to remain a finals force these are the hypotheticals that need discussing. Of course the game could take another turn tactics wise that renders older players obsolete. Another way of discussing it could be to analyse if Hawthorn's management of its veterans was worse than Geelong's and if so what lessons can be learnt.
  16. For the price WatchAFL has to rank as one of the worst platforms in modern sport streaming. It's almost designed to fail. One has to wonder if it's run by the same people who designed the new VFL competition.
  17. Like many games accuracy on goal will decide this one. Both ourselves and the Dogs left 4-6 goals each on the table last week. Get that goal to behind ratio to around 70/30 and the game is ours. Three big ins for us.. hopefully all fit and match ready. Cameron had four possessions last week. Is he waning? Expect to see Gawn scragged and Oliver tagged. With Sydney next week this is a big game in the scheme of things Dees by 20
  18. not too many book depositories in Casey from what I've heard
  19. Brilliant... I'd be very interested in knowing what question you framed. You can almost see a tree dripping with cliches but it's good. Scary what these apps will do as they self learn over the next ten years
  20. Applying the Jesuit theory now is the time to grow the long term supporter base How about offering North and Hawks members a free entry with their kids for a game. Give them a scarf. The publicity will be enormous given the over reaction that will occur in some areas. Dare we do the same offer for Essendon supporters
  21. 6 weeks for a finger injury... poor guy... was looking forward to seeing Taj as the sub in Perth Joel Smith aka The Invisible Man
  22. JVR not playing in the seniors practice matches (save for one quarter) means they have a plan for him. What it is I have no idea. Will be watching the Casey game closely on Saturday
  23. I'd be tempted to rest Gawn as well. Grundy is a real plus in our armory Will be a fascinating season on the rotation front if injuries are low
  24. Thanks.. was about to check the weather... Sounds like a warm one Rotations and sub use will be important
  25. we need our over the fence training watchers.. Picket Fence where are you
