they do but they stopped using them (in season at least) as they killed the grass At a cost of $1 billion that is A$40,00 per seat which would make it one of the most expensive stadiums per seat in the world https://www.statista.com/statistics/968136/europe-average-cost-per-seat-in-stadiums-in-top-football-divisions/

NON-MFC: Rd 07 2023
I've been a big supporter but they are making it hard with the rolling fixture and the absence of television promotion. Done properly it's a TV promoter's dream but there's little interest. If the Vic Gov't would pay I'd be happy to see the game in Mildura. (Not impossible Dogs are paid to play in Ballarat)

Big game for Saints tonight. Ross Lyon is starting to remind me of Swooper the way that he has his players at all levels playing that little bit better

2027/2028 is being suggested The next bargaining agreement with the players will run for 3-4 years. It is thought to be difficult to introduce a new team during the currency of that agreement

Las Vegas beats Shanghai...Was Sheedy too early
IIRC they had a grand prix in one of the casino car parks years back so laying a bit of turf in an oval shape should be a cinch.

Could this be the new AFL play. Games in Las Vegas to access the US betting market. Don't laugh, the NRL have it under active consideration and if there's money to be made the AFL won't be far behind The NRL is on the cusp of cementing a long-term strategy to cash in on “an absolute revolution” in online sports betting in the US, which could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars in broadcast fees, sponsorship and gambling revenue. NRL executives are hoping to host two round one games in Las Vegas next year and will travel to the gambling hub next month to continue negotiations and planning with multiple stakeholders before any formal announcement. The Australian Rugby League Commission chair, Peter V’landys, has been upfront about wanting access to the booming US sports betting market since he took over the job in 2019, one year after the US supreme court overturned a federal ban on the industry “Like him or loathe him, V’Landys is all about the dollar,” said Colin Smith, of advisory firm Global Media and Sports. Send GCS and GWS over there for a few games... no one would miss them https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2023/apr/27/nrl-seeking-to-cash-in-on-absolute-revolution-in-online-sports-gambling-in-us

What they are saying at Arden Street
They'll play the standard Collingwood wave game and try to overwhelm our backs. Do they have the skill to keep it up? The downside for us is that the Collingwood wave begins at our 50M line which invariably leads to our forward line being crowded. The solution is simple... midfield dominance... something that has eluded us in the main this year

It's the roof Keeping it to 23k will allow for lower stands and thus a cheaper roof. There is a site that compares stadium build costs on a cost per seat basis. Optus in Perth was number 1 by a mile with Wembley a distant second I wonder if Hobart will challenge for number 1 (builders in Perth were paid incredible money as they were competing with the mining boom. The end result was good but it wasn't twice as good as Wembley etc)

They will not be viable with a 23k seat stadium unless they are heavily subsidised by someone. Heard a rep from the Tasmanian body say they hoped for 50k members. (Not sure how that works unless they sell away memberships and the away clubs are prepared to deal) The clubs complained that they never saw detailed business plans for GCS and GWS. Same thing happening again on the hope that the golden media pudding will fix all. Shanghai anyone ??
