  1. Quite a few games for the top 7 to slip up on including our own. I'd expect three losses for the top 7 (hopefully we're not one of them) which could see the ladder taking shape. Wins by Richmond and Port are not impossible and they would be great for us
  2. Brayshaw renegotiated his contract on the back of his stellar post bye season of 2018. He would be paid very well.
  3. Different times Then...Less than 4 wins= 2 picks .... therefore a serious leg up Now not so much
  4. If the players want to make it work... yes For Jackson it's money.... we could easily accommodate two years on $650k.. but if you're offered 8 x$1.3M Brayshaw.... far more complicated... he fancies himself as a star midfielder... is he ???
  5. There's probably 4 or 5 players vying for Toby's spot and even then his position was deemed worthy of elimination this week at selection so there will be a few disgruntled and bemused players. One of Chandler or Bedford may as well try elsewhere next year Must say I do like the idea of a straight swap for Parrish with Bombers paying half his salary of course
  6. Actually I'd pick Chandler or Weideman but the fact is the forward line still didn't function last week and we were saved by Pickett's performance. You need to score goals to win and if you weaken an already underperforming forward line it's a strange strategy. Melksham has rarely performed when selected as evidenced by his two earlier games. Anyway let's see
  7. For all the talk of Melksham's defensive game he hardly got a kick. The strategy didn't seem to free up BBB or Fritsch and if it hadn't been for a mercurial performance by Kossie Pickett we would have lost the game. So we drop a small forward (albeit underperforming) and add no one up forward. Does this mean Petracca is to be played almost as a permanent forward. Okay but our midfield isn't exactly performing at its golden best and it happens to be the Bulldog's strength Strange team selection
  8. Can't see any bolstering of the forward line Disappointing
  9. As has been said the run home is a nightmare and there's no other term for it. Two road trips against top 4 teams and 3 against final 8 aspirants. Add to that a sputtering forward structure and you have to wonder. This is where a good coach shows his value. Motivating tired players is an art. In a strange way the prolonged camp arrangements of 2021 may have played into our hands in our success last year. Not suggesting that we repeat it but freshening up players mentally is a must. I still maintain we wasted an opportunity to refresh/manage key players in the two week block against North and WCE. Is the hunger there... we're about to find out starting on Saturday night
  10. Future revenue streams are the unknown when it comes to big long term contracts. For example Australian cricket is likely to get $40M a year for the Indian rights to stream Australian games played in Australia. 10 years is two broadcast deals. While times are challenging the last two broadcast deals have seen revenue growth of significant amounts. Then there are the gambling rights Maybe Jackson is selling himself short
  11. Nineteen teams doesn't work unless you reduce to 18 rounds. If not every team must have two byes If you want something dramatic you play 18 rounds and the bottom 3 or 5 drop out Assuming 5 have dropped out then it is seeded with 1v 14, 1v13 etc until you get to 22 games. TBH it stinks but it shows what you have to do to accommodate an odd number of teams
  12. Seems that posters are tempering their expectations on an almost daily basis. We really need to find a way to deal West Coast in as an alternative bidder. A number 3 draft pick who will be paid record money. How Freo can hope to get him without giving away a top player is amazing but it seems that the media have been sucked into the Freo vortex.
  13. Having the game before the AFL game and the week after a bye is another example of scheduling at it's VFL best
  14. The critical point to observe is when the ball is kicked. At that point he is rarely triple teamed. We love our high kicking entries which when directed towards BBB gives plenty of time for other defenders to leave their man and triple team him. The answer is for the other attacking forward to lead his defender away to such an extent that this defender can't influence the play. Harder in practice of course
  15. Noticed that BBB was playing on the weekend with strapping around his knee. Does he usually have strapping
  16. Sleep well Pickett There is always someone here
  17. Old Man Covid will throw a lot of teams over the next 6 weeks. A bit like going without a beer I hope our guys are sensible but even then it will be a lottery
  18. Hopefully they repeat it next week against Collingwood
  19. Brown starting to hit a few straps.Early days but some signs
  20. Outs are Bedford and Melksham Tomlinson (but May needs to get better) Ins Petty Oliver and one of Weid or JVR. (Next weeks game is under the roof so I'm prepared to punt a tall... Chandler unlucky)
  21. it's ok We're loaded
  22. Kozzie... a win but unfortunately not much more Another mini test next week and these are the two easiest games !!
  23. Ha ha ha They couldn't Like a deflating balloon
  24. I did pick us to win by 26 earlier in this thread but I'd be happy to win by over 40
