  1. Gee last week before the weekend most people had this team down as Top 4 material - after one game everyone seems to be scratching their head wondering where the next win could come from How things change quickly ! We have to perform at our best week after week for virtually 100% of each game to be any chance of finals IMO - tough draw - tougher competition
  2. plus Chandler , Bedford and Petty
  3. Hopefully, all of those big "ifs" turn into "did"
  4. Will not stop Eddie causing trouble
  5. He can do everything but ruck no wonder he gets the nod
  6. Based on the form displayed to date (Geelong, Collingwood, Melbourne) we must be rank outsiders to win this Will need a massive change in performance to get a win
  7. With the departure of Hogan this was always on the cards - wait for the Collingwood rumours to surface soon
  8. Rather than laying the blame on any single defender, it seems like any half decent key forward kicks bags of goals on us Clearly the FD see this as a key weakness hence the recruiting of May and Lever, unfortunately, both NA in round 1 I suspect that with both or either not present in future games the same trend of key forwards having a day out will persist and more often than not we will drop those games because our forward 50 structure doesn't seem to be that effective
  9. Conversely they have traded quite well - Dunn and Howe ?
  10. Can't see Ryder playing - can't see what Preuss brings to the table based on form to date
  11. In a few days, all will be revealed - I hope our JLT form is just that and not season proper form line. We now have injury and suspensions that will mean we don't hit round 1 with our best possible team. Everyone will need to perform including Weid if we are to put the first win on the board this week
  12. Wow ? so unnecessary I have no idea what motivated you to roll this out but hopefully there is some level of remorse Jesse has some issues that clearly he has to deal with but there is nothing at all to be gained by this sort of comment
  13. Yet to see enough from Preuss that suggests he will ever be much more than a lumbering man mountain. Does not seem to have a great understanding of the game, how to position himself or time leaping in ruck and most concerning seems to have a limited tank so can't get around the ground as is required in the modern game - in short, can't see him playing much time at all in the 1's Agree that Petty seems more mature and is certainly a good prospect long term, Keilty also some encouraging signs, would have liked to see him more as a forward 50 option My main concern from this game was the performance of T Mac he looked cooked from the first 5 minutes
  14. Tom is a breath of fresh air really Intelligent well considered and articulate responses to a series of questions No pathetic cliches, no umms or ahhs Well done TMac deserves every success and I hope it comes his way
  15. Not elite in front of goals - yet ! 17 goals 12 behinds in 2018 ok and better than Trac but nothing special Tmac 53 goals 20 behinds Ben Brown 61 goals 24 behinds Hoskin-Elliott 42 goals 16 behinds These guys can kick straight !
  16. Having watched the two finals again recently they certainly weren't his best games - he looked a bit slow, turned the ball over uncharacteristically and had little impact in games where the team was performing well. As I said, not what he had been producing for most of his debut season and maybe things just started to catch up on him and he was physically drained I think he is very gifted, has worked hard to earn the opportunity he now has. Far too early though to be speculating about AA - my concern is whether he has the wheels and pace for a wing position - I suspect this is something that he has been trying to improve over the summer and it will be interesting to see where he fits into the team this year - competition for most spots seems more intense than ever at this stage
  17. Reminds me of a former MFC forward approach to goal kicking
  18. Terribly disappointing for the young man - I wish him a speedy recovery and come back bigger and better next season
  19. Hate to say it but Jake Lever has the skinniest set of legs in the AFL - look like they could snap with a slight breeze
  20. Big fan of JV but lets be honest he needs to get himself on the park consistently before he has sole captaincy For all of Jones's shortcomings (are there aren't many) he is there week in week out flying the flag and has been for many years
  21. Apologies - not trying to anyone's Dad just a bit of good old fashion realism and caution. I never said any player reads the dribble on here or that it might influence their attitude or performance Enjoy the ride whatever it is that's served up but try to resist being condescending to people who may have an opinion that doesn't perfectly align to you own
  22. My point was if the team shares your overconfidence they are very likely going to get belted - simple really I certainly hope they don't because it would be completely ill founded at this stage
  23. Oh dear this is the kind of "getting ahead of ourselves" mentality that has brought this club to its knees over and over again Rest assured they will, like every other team come out firing and will be desperate to get a win in round 1 - it will not be easy #bookmarkit They have some quality players - if we are not 100% focused and committed a loss is definitely on the cards
  24. I agree he does have lots of similarities to Sam Mitchell - as he gets a bigger fitness base and spends more time in the midfield the similarity will become more striking I hope He's a good user of the ball , great reader of the play, tough , disposes well and in the vast majority of times to his team mates advantage Sam Mitchell is not tall , he is not quick by foot - still a great midfield weapon I expect Charlie to follow suit and I believe our coaching staff think the same
  25. Maybe you are right - if you are - what's the point of this change ? Surely there is an intended consequence for changing the status quo ?
