  1. And what is it with Scott's obsession with late changes when the change is to manage a player, this time Menengola. If they were going to manage him surely they would have known on Thursday night as Scott has often said they plan their player management a long time in advance. Maybe they are just trying to hide an injury... Either way it isn't in the spirit of integrity of team selection.
  2. One has to wonder about Geelong's obsession with resting players especially this late in the season when they have a fortnight off. The polar opposite of our approach to build physical resilience and keep players on the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if they will be underdone in the finals with all the resting and the easy run they have had for the last few months. More so if they win their first final and go through to a PF with barely a physical or scoreboard challenge for three months.
  3. Good to see that ch7 found the vision of Arnsworth's strike on Neal-Bullen. Awful behind play strike. Just so frustrating that ch7 didn't play the vision for the world to see what was going on.
  4. They often start the finals on the Thursday. If so there probably won't be a Sunday afternoon game so your Father's Day should be ok. But that could depend on who plays and where the Home games are. The fixture will probably be out within 24 hours of the last game tomorrow.
  5. Sydney have won a lot of games this year by 8 - 10 goals: +61 v Eagles (Optus) +58 v Ess (SCG) +51 v Saints (SCG) +53 v WBD (SCG) +73 v GWS (SCG) So they will back themselves in to get the score needed for 2nd spot and a Home final. However, this game is at Marvel Stadium where their results this year were: -11 v WBD -15 v Carlton St Kilda's Marvel Stadium record this year is: +33 v Richmond +26 v GCS +10 Cats +53 v North -35 v Ess +15 v Carlton -41 v Freo -28 v WBD +12 v Hawks While their second half form isn't as good as the first there have bee no blow out losses; the biggest being nearly 7 goals. Conclusion: Sydney will not blow Saints out of the park by 8-10 goals.
  6. The Geelong vs Eagles will be the biggest snore fest of all time. Firstly, because it will be a training run for Geelong. Secondly, it is Dangerfield's 300th game and the endless commentary and fawning will be 🤮
  7. I was so willing Hunt's after the siren torp to go through. Fond memories of the after the siren torp for a goal in the NT a few years ago. He also had an excellent game.
  8. Excellent game by Rivers. A distinct difference to his past games was that he had so much time and space. He has really worked on his 'composure' with the ball (lessons from Salem perhaps) and is so much more effective. He went to Casey to improve his kicking. He has and so much more.
  9. Answerth Would love to have seen the incident. Hard to imagine the network doesn't have it as they have down the ground cameras. Hopefully, the MRO asks for vision.
  10. The mainstream media wouldn't be game to report what is on social media, it is so bad. Even without seeing the social media we know by our club reaction that it was really bad. We do things quietly be it complain about umpiring, accepting/fighting player suspensionsetc. Not this time. Richardson and Goodwin were very upfront, direct and unequivocal about the incident. And made a point of saying Brisbane apologised. Huge kudos to them for publicly and strongly standing up for Petty and drawing a line under abuse.
  11. Ironically, Nick Riewoldt was sitting right next to him. Brown forgot the famous time when Nick went crying to the bench after Brown's teammate Chris Scott and Mal Michael targeted Riewoldt's broken collarbone. Nick didn't say anything last night but he would have seen the parallels to his incident. Brown may have been trying to deflect blame but it was very very poor.
  12. On the game itself: We. Are. Pretenders. Another big game. Another capitulation. Demons play as a team. We play like we all stars and someone else can do the dirty work. Absolute disgrace. Mentally weak. Tigers will beat us by 50 points, we will just freeze over and embarrass ourselves again on the big stage. Just get the final out of the way and give us all a break. Eyes on getting Ashcroft in and a refresh/reset for 2023. Fagan safe for now, but I wouldn’t be extending him anytime soon. Complete debarcle, but entirely predictable. My favourite: Where can we find the season review thread? Again, I didn't go past page 2 of their thread. As an aside, the bf mods may have cleaned up their thread but posters were very mild mannered and measured about the Zorko incident and about the result.
  13. Since you asked. No love for him. Almost universal condemnation. Very much hope whatever the Petty incident was isn't covered up/ignored. Depending on what it was, we should be considering giving Zorko a club suspension and him missing the elimination final. And if it wasn’t being taken off him already, his captaincy ends this year. Really all around awful performance capped off with our captain acting most un-captain like. This finals campaign needs to be Zorko's final games as captain and next year his last as a player. Melbourne were fairly classy about it but pretty clear Zorko said something pretty horrible. So incredibly disappointing from anyone let alone the club captain. Its been hard to defend him over the years through all the stupid crap he does. Just wish the club had looked elsewhere for leadership At least whatever was said will take the focus off the many shortcomings of that performance. Pretty disgraceful then. If the AFL doesn't ban him multiple weeks, we should. Would help our chances of winning, without having him out their carrying on like a [censored] embarrassing his peers and fans. We’ve had some great recent captains haven’t we. Hard to pick who was the worse person - Zorko, Beams or Rockliff. We should get on the front foot and ban him internally for a week so the AFL doesn't have to get involved. Not on and it also shows we don't stand for that kind of crap. Can’t remember being more embarrassed as a Lions fan, especially after the appalling conduct by our captain. Say what you want about Fagans coaching skills. But I feel bad about him having to discuss whatever vile s**t Zorko has said Got 4 text messages from mates all along the lines of Zorko is a ******* [censored]. All I could do was respond with a thumbs up Regardless of what was said to Petty, his conduct tonight for the whole game was absolutely unforgivable. He has completely given up on his personal standards as a player and leader, no wonder we lack leadership in big games. No one even wants to fly the flag for him, it’s selfish and distracting. How his behaviour, as our skipper, has been allowed to deteriorate to this point is an indictment on our club. Said it before he is a disgrace as a captain .yet all the softies go 5 time best and fairest . He is a grub and people wonder why our team has no heart he is the chief leader of it The only bit of tolerance shown was quickly shot down: Let’s wait to see what happened before we crucify him. Zorko obviously said something he shouldn't have but can we wait until we know more about the situation before retiring the guy. Don't think based on his past behaviour we should give him the benefit of the doubt tbh. I don't think a bloke starts crying based on nothing. Fair enough My favourite: And there didn't seem to be any need for it at that stage of the game. If you want to be a tough guy go pick on Melksham By the way that was just from page 1 and 2 of bigfooty. Didn't bother with the next 8 pages.
  14. The Age has listed coaches Ess should call. LOL, Goodwin is one listed. That will be a very short conversation: Gee, guys. Thanks but Ben is my mate. And by the way, you have had 4 permanent senior coaches in the 8 years since I left. Each one was unceremoniously flicked off.. Why on earth would I come back to that snake pit. Bye! who-now-to-coach-bombers
  15. Sonya Hood deserves serious accolades. Personally negotiated and steered the deal with Clarkson. Whatever, promises she made to Clarkson she will keep. CEO not part of the process but that is probably because he won't be part of the future. They are doing what Ess haven't: taken a cold, hard look at their total organisation and have a plan going forward. Piece by piece she will build a strong organisation..
  16. Messaging working ok. But noticed the 'Likes' count has disappeared from underneath the avatar when posting. Anyone else in the same boat?
  17. Port captain and vice captain making big statements about how 'arrogant and entitled' the Crows are. Is it their Ed Langdon 'all duck, no dinner'/'one trick pony' moment? Like Ed's it may come back to bite them, big time!
  18. Which interview?
  19. Didn't you say recently, you don't drink much🤔 The DA has certainly changed your ways!!
  20. Bizarre! Barely an hour after their President held a press conf saying the coaching position will be discussed/decided on Sunday. Left hand/right hand at play. Did the President not know the coach is being sacked. Someone has burnt him or he said 'Sunday' to stop the scrutiny, his 'bluff' didn't work. He may have the shortest AFL President tenure in history. Edit: Does ch7 have it wrong. Other media still reporting it is Sunday. Someone should tell them the 'fish rots from the head'. Ditch the whole board is the only way to go. The place started to fall apart when Peter Jackson left. They need Peter Jackson back there badly but I hope he isn't tempted!!
  21. For this year it is because they have played weaker teams. Haven't looked at prior years.
  22. Good pun. If Hird came back and I was a player's parent I would get my kids out of that club asap. In fact, if I would get my kids out asap, anyway. Right now they are seeing their careers go down the gurgler. Development is poor, club divided and finals are light years away.
  23. Round 23, 2021? So much 'redemption' and impetus on road to the Premiership, in that after the siren win.
  24. Ess have to let him go and pay him out. They can't expect him to coach for them after this. If they don't the AFLCA needs to get him out of there, pronto!!. They should have made a public defence for him already and not left up to his colleagues. That the AFLCA said nothing to support coaches who were very badly treated while in contract: Shaw, Teague, Noble and now Rutten suggests there is something very wrong with that organisation.
  25. The sensible thing to do. The Ess factions have been warring for a long time. It wouldn't end if Clarkson went there; it may have even become worse. Ess has kicked the biggest 'own goal' of all time. They are now so badly fractured who knows how long it will take to put the pieces back together. Would be happy if it takes 'forever'! If Clarkson turns them down, who would be silly enough to take the coaching job. Time for the popcorn!
