  1. How was that overruled by the arc? I’m in shock
  2. Hipwood has a Medieval look about him. He’s definitely Homo Sapien, but a much earlier iteration.
  3. Why not show the free kick? The AFL is a monopoly, and it’s painfully boring to not see an element of play replayed simply because it might not be a good decision.
  4. Maybe he’s just sick of the standard of journalism in this country?
  5. Oh, that sucks.
  6. I’d love to know how this came to be the finals system. I wonder if the AFL is encouraging pathways clubs to be more flexible in season to give players the ability to play in different positions and learn different systems. When I played my junior footy in the then TAC cup I was always surprised at the level of input recruiters had over team selection - and often the push back they got from coaches with their own careers to manage.
  7. Melky playing defensive forward role on May?
  8. Wait a minute, the qualifying factor to make our Academy is that your mum has to come from Mauritius? No wonder we don’t seem to have many coming through.
  9. I’ll remind you of that the next time you pull me up for using the wrong ‘there’.
  10. 5 inside midfielders named across the centre line of the AA team. Every team would be confident to get them for speed on the outside.
  11. I agree he’s a ripper, but the footage I saw of him late in that Carlton win was damning. He didn’t chase his opponent and left him alone forward of the ball. Then Collingwood won the ball back because of a terrible Carlton decision and Pendles was on his own in the middle of the ground -because he didn’t work back. The rest is history. He got very, very, very lucky.
  12. Yeah! The rest of you, pull ya finger out! Be more like Clarry 🤣
  13. This guy will be remembered as one of the greatest players to ever play for Melbourne. He gives everything he has every week. Can’t ask for more.
  14. Is that advertising revenue for the AFL jnr, or in general?
  15. Heaps of sugar and chocolate. You should try it! 😉
  16. Got my tickets, just hang in there. It takes 10 minutes but the tickets for our game are there and I got what I wanted - front row level 4. I’ll be the guy with a red face and no voice left by quarter time. Can’t miss me.
  17. I love the way the AA squad gives Jack 2 weeks to get really angry about being over looked. Look out Swannies!
  18. I personally have 3 memberships for this season. Given that I can buy so many tickets per membership If I get on at 10am I may be able to reverse the whole Ponsford stand. Honestly, it seems ludicrous to allow one member to buy 10 tickets.
  19. On the Couch talking about how Essendon will have to reassure any coach who will enter into their process, as the assumption is that Hird will get the job since half the board want him. They are unbelievable. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
  20. Reckon Melksham, Spargo and Ben Brown are stiff (but only because I like to annoy people on Demonland).
  21. The only option left isn’t going to do him any favours. Based on yesterday’s performance that board is headed up by Football’s Monty Burns. ’Release the hounds’.
  22. Why doesn’t everyone played each other once, and then the last 5 weeks is a floating draw based on the first 17 games? Struggling to think of a late season game after round 18 that is a blockbuster (Anzac, Dreamtime etc). Maybe make the Derby’s and Showdowns a certainty in the last 5 rounds, and then just arrange it so good teams get each other more - or at least make it fair and divide the teams into top, middle and bottom 6 and make it so you play teams in your division 3 times, and a bottom division side only once in that period. Shouldn’t be brain surgery, and means we get really good teams playing more often later in the year.
  23. Evidently coping with expectation appears to be easier for professional athletes than it does for amateur supporters. I think we’ve handled ourselves pretty well. I think the club was exploring ways of winning based on ‘differing’ levels of effort for a lot of the season. That in itself says a lot about how well we are travelling as a club, and the quality of players we have. The real season starts now.
  24. It’s difficult to know what to make of the last few months in terms of our fitness yet I reckon. I really felt against the Dogs, Pies and even Carlton (bar the miracles of Melksham and Koz) that we looked out on our feet after half time. I could see the players really trying, but just not having that burst. Even on Friday night it’s hard to know what to make of the last half, as the game was over, and then the weird emotional vacuum of the Petty incident. I’m very hopeful we will see the benefits and effort of Selwyn in the next month, but I do think the club would have been sweating on him after the Pies game in particular. It’s a fine balance, and I’d imagine a really difficult job.
