TEAMS: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
A victim of circumstances is all. He’s unlucky, but you also can’t punish the players who got the job done so well last week.

Eddie Betts opens up on the weird camp
AFLPA may finally get what’s been coming to them for far too long. They too often stay in bed with the AFL on issues, Instead of representing the interests of the actual players. I’d love for some players to unionise away from the AFLPA. It’s worthless in its current configuration.

Eddie Betts opens up on the weird camp
This is some dumb, corporate nonsense. We reached peak corporate stupidity circa 2017-19. Every second job advertised said ‘join our cult’ and everyone was saying everything was ‘weaponised’. We used to have a spreadsheet at my old job that got updated weekly with ridiculous corporate speak we’d heard that week. This was the last throws of that culture of bravado and puffery. Around this time Richmond starting telling jokes right before the first bounce because they realised that competitive people don’t need 2 hours of emotional abuse before a game - they can just be trusted to do their jobs, and are more likely to buy into the team ethos if they are happy. Thank god that’s over.

Welcome to Demonland: Country Road
I heard they are going to sponsor the under 18’s - because Wu-Tang is for the children.

Welcome to Demonland: Country Road
It’s not exactly subverting the stereotype - although I think Trenery would have been more appropriate.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
My take on this is absolutely not. They finished all over North in that game. They needed to as they were a fair way down.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I got excited here but the bloke who posted this admitted in another thread he was just trolling Freo supporters. I think having the Melksham jumper snatch as his avatar might have also been a hint.

Should Jack Viney be captain again?
I love Jack, and I generally like the sentiment here Dazzle. Having watched him for the last 10 years you’d have to feel he would have taken the vice captaincy as a demotion. I think he looked overly intense for the first year with Max as captain. I noted earlier in the season he looked very happy this year and has been able to express a range of emotions on field, not just his trademark ‘absolute unrelenting intensity’. If he was made the captain again at some point I’d have no issue with it at all. The players are mature enough, and supported well enough, to know what they need. We are a bit spoilt for leaders really.

2022 Tickets Thread
I think level 4 at the G is easily the best place to see the structure of how we play. The amount of running Lingers, JJ and ANB do makes me breathless (but it might also be the altitude, beers, and sausage rolls).

Fill the ‘G’
I got reserved seats for this and the Carlton game the day they released them. So annoyed at myself for not buying a reserved members seat for the year (and GF guarantee). Didn’t know if I’d be in Melbourne all year with work, and how covid would impact. Turns out I’ve been to almost every game in Melbourne, and paid $50 to reserve a seat at about 6 of them.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I love Max. He handles this stuff so well, and is very good at reminding everyone that these are young people we are talking about - and not just operational assets.

Richmond are due a close win. Did you see that stat that they’ve been in front in 17 of their 19 games. Insane.

Cotchin missed 2 very easy goals that quarter.

NON-MFC: Round 20, 2022
Certain players get given so much slack with holding the ball. It’s a very unfairly adjudicated rule.

Farewell Sam Weideman
I wish we picked him up this year. Would be starting full forward every week, and suit our game plan very well.

Farewell Luke Jackson
I think we’ve been very unlucky with how this has played out as a club. In normal situations he’s back and forth whenever he can, and he’s living in Melbourne experiencing a new place and all the great cultural things it offers. His family is visiting 5-6 times a year and seeing their son play at The G in front of 50,000 people as a guest of the club. Instead he was living though horrific lockdowns and seeing his mates at home go to the beach, and talk [censored] about Victoria. WA lived virtually untouched by the pandemic for 2 years. I honestly think this is a huge factor in his thinking, and the pressure he’d be getting from his family and friends. Let’s not forget that the pandemic has constituted 50% of Luke’s entire adult life.

Mac Andrew is THIN. I’ve got thicker bed sheets (to be fair I like a decent thread count).

NON-MFC: Round 20, 2022
I volunteered that info full of shame! I was 9, it was 1987, and I was bewitched by Rick’s beguiling bouffant, soulful croon, and heady mix of polo shirt and suit jacket.
