  1. If St Kilda make the finals all they will trouble is their own supporters. They are so frustrating to watch.
  2. Everyone relax will ya. We don’t have a ruckman for one game against a bottom 4 team. Half the comp plays without one every week.
  3. I assumed the conspiracy theory would be the clubs been told about Luke’s future and are shelving him.
  4. I think a few things about Lobb to the Dogs: 1.Why wouldn’t they be trying to bring in a defender first? They have no good back men and it’s a massive list issue. 2. What does it say about JUH and Darcy (and let’s not forget Schache was the next big hope) if Lobb is playing for 3 years in front of them? The Bulldogs remind me of that kid in high school that knows he’s not much to look at. They are so flattered any ones keen that they fall in love with out asking who, why or how.
  5. David King has made a career out of making simple things seem complicated. If he never spoke about football again no one would ever notice. He offers nothing, except to fill time pretending stats tell a story, and saying the word ‘brand’.
  6. The emergency list is interesting. I guess the club has figured on interstate travel it’s more important for younger players to get game time and learn structures at Casey than jump on a plane and essentially do nothing. And they might be rewarding Mitch Brown for his game last week, and Melksham for keeping May sharp? Hunt the sub i’d think.
  7. This brought back so many memories - but the strongest one was ‘I’ve always hated Geelong’.
  8. I think Gus was keen to play more midfield minutes and assumed that had to be somewhere else - but then saw what Jack Viney delivered on Thursday night and thought ‘Actually, I don’t want to play against that. Sign me up!’
  9. That’s fascinating about the Eagles. Didn’t know that.
  10. Freo won’t have the picks to get LJ unless they bundle a LOT and can move up the draft order. You simply can’t argue he’s worth less than pick 1-5. Only one WA club really in contention - which I think longer term is a better business decision for Luke. You can’t compare the Eagles and Freo in WA. If he wants to go home, we get a big draft pick and use it to score a gun key position forward. Makes me wonder about Ben King. We’d have to ask, and ask hard. Regardless, I love Luke and the way he goes about it, but I think if he goes he’s going to be playing for a team that’s going to struggle for 3-4 years.
  11. 2 minutes after it occurred. Honestly AFL, put me on the pay roll and I’ll get it done in 5 minutes and save your $250k.
  12. He missed a trick here. Should have said… ’Don’t go overseas and do anything Jordan De Goey wouldn’t do - TWICE!. Thanks everybody you’ve been a great audience. Try the veal. Good night!’
  13. You said sizeable contract, and I just think it’s worth pointing out it wouldn’t be beyond what we should have paid given North wanted him gone. Why you so angry today Nev? Seasonal affective disorder? It’s warm up the top of the ladder. Let the sunshine in.
  14. And now he’s a Melbourne supporter, so he’s got to manage the myriad of emotions we all know comes with that.
  15. Browns contract isn’t sizeable. It’s about par for what it should be for a bloke whose played as many games as he has, and definitely unders for a Coleman medallist. I thought Ben looked great early. He was very mobile and giving the Lions defenders something to think about. At the ground I thought his energy was brilliant. It’s not his fault that our game style gives him difficult shots - in fact it’s part of the reason we got him and he’s in the team. I watched the replay and saw 3 separate players point down to teammates to indicate to them not to put the ball in the air after the first quarter. It’s a team sport, Ben definitely played his part on Thursday.
  16. I heard Noble say in the post match that Tarryn’s Nan died during the week and he wanted to play for her, but found it really difficult to focus during the game. He flew back to his family after the match instead of back to Melbourne. I kind of find Demon supporters piling onto North a bit confusing. They are essentially us circa 2012-13. We turned out ok.
  17. They said last night on the news that Stewart is friends with Jack Riewoldt, got Prestia’s number from him, and called Dion to apologise and check in on him on Saturday night.
  18. I was very willing to give Ginnivan a shot in the face iof the criticism of him enjoying his goals too much. After watching that game against GWS he just flops around far too much to be admired, and even though it only works 20% of the time it’s just not an admirable way to play. He’s essentially playing for a free kick 85% of his game time.
  19. Agree. Often times the Brownlow winner is the best midfielder in a half decent team without a lot of midfield peers to take votes off. Matt Priddis was similarly a good footballer, but wouldn’t have been in the top 20 players in the comp the year he won.
  20. Noble was giving the players a spray at 3/4 time and none of them were eye balling him. His career has a stink about it. Imagine coaching for 30 years and then inheriting that side?
  21. I think Rivers is feeling the impact of an interrupted preseason. We need him up and about but he just looks flat and struggling with the pace. I also think Hunt as the sub could be a game changer for us over the coming weeks. He can play forward or back, and when the game opens up after half time if he came on fresh he could be a real advantage. Bedfords pressure was fantastic on Thursday. We just looked better equipped to apply the necessary forward half pressure to give us consistent looks. I also think with a smaller forward line we used the ball better, and forward handball from stoppage more efficiently, because we knew we couldn’t bomb it forward from the back of every clearance like we have for the last month. I don’t see any changes this week.
  22. Saints are clearly loading (or just not very good).
  23. 100%. Terrible mistakes. Tom Lynch, whose entire job is to be the deepest forward on the ground, takes a mark at half back, turns around and plays on, and is shocked to find there’s no one in front of him. No Tom. No.
