This is why I phone it in for every job I ever do. No fluctuations in form means everyone’s always guessing.

Big Goldie just reminding Mason he’s been at this for 20 years longer.
-
I dunno. Beetroot just slides around the place and makes my shirt look like a crime scene. Maybe I’m UnAustralian?
-
I thought North were really honest against us. Collingwood have won so many tight games this year. They are due.
-
Great to see 17th vs 7th playing at a ground with capacity for 100,000 people - unlike Thursday nights 1st vs 2nd played at a stadium with a current capacity of 21,000. Remind me again AFL what the point of being successful is?

I’m starting to buy into the conspiracy theory that Demonland asked Jackson to stay unsigned for as long as possible in order to drive up advertising revenue on this site.

I think we were happy for them to show us what they have. They spoiled our ruckman hard and and away from the contest consistently, and the set up around stoppage a certain way - which is awesome to know in July. We didn’t change much until the last quarter when we shifted the forward line about the place and scored differently. We know what they want to do now. I’m still convinced that we aren’t changing much up in game because we don’t need to. We are in a learning phase about what others want to do against us. We still have the best midfield and defence in the competition. I think we are keeping our powder dry.

CHANGES: Rd 18 vs Port Adelaide
The heart beats true replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jackson ‘I’m not sure what I want to do next year. I miss my mum, and it rains sometimes in Victoria’. Oliver ‘I’ve just signed a 7 year contract and had my thumb smashed. Just cut the bloody thing off and I’ll see you at training in the morning’. Clayton is what I’ve waited my whole life as a Demon supporter to have. Enormously skilled, tough, determined, and committed to our club. -
I don’t think he’s Un Australian. I don’t even know what it means to be ‘Un Australian’. Does that mean he doesn’t have an egg on his burger, and he says Shrimp when he means Prawns? Regardless I can’t stand Nick. He’s a petulant child whose now been charged with assault. It’s not about what country he comes from, it’s the fact that as a culture we are sick of people who treat women like objects. I hope I never see his terrible haircut and stinky attitude ever again.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
The heart beats true replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Oliver is an absolute gem. He’s hard, loves the club, plays second fiddle to Tracc and Gawn in the medias eyes and is our best player a minimum 15 weeks a year, every year. I firmly believe he will go down in history as the greatest Melbourne player ever. We are blessed to have him, and I hope all our supporters appreciate how special he is. -
They cut to the cheer squad only once last night in the broadcast. They showed the bloke with the blonde hair going absolutely bananas at the umpire when Hawkins held May and the umps did nothing. @WalkingCivilWar if you know that bloke tell him he’s a legend. I was doing the same thing at home.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028

Wow. Take a walk and pet a dog. Chill. -
5 day rest off a combative interstate night game at the hardest ground to win at in Australia. Context is everything. We are better than we looked last night. Our draw is a literal joke compared to everyone else’s. Just got to stick together and back each other in to get the job done when it counts.

My biggest issue is Geelong don’t insist on. Every year Scott comes out and preaches to his local choir about how it’s unfair that they don’t play finals in Geelong - yet 2 weeks ago they played a Geelong ‘home’ game against Richmond at the MCG and nobody from their club said a word. They are so hypocritical about it.
-
May as well call it what it is… Financially Disadvantaged Stadium.

On reflection I’m disappointed by 2 very simple things: We got beaten comprehensively at clearance all night. We played into their hands with our ball use when we won it back in defence. Long down the line to no one. Gawn and Jackson underdone was a problem, but honestly we are so boring with our ball use from the back half for most of the last 2 months. It’s a very hard ground to counter attack from defence because of its horrific shape, and Geelong’s knowledge of the ground. So if you lose clearances it’s next to impossible to win. That’s the biggest problem. I also think because our forward line is struggling we pushed Petracca forward but it costs us a line breaker around the ground. To be fair it’s a tough ground to break lines on. It’s just so claustrophobic.

Disagree. We won that game by 80 odd points. He was in the mix of our players but had he not been there it’s very hard to argue we still wouldn’t have won. My view is that Luke got a Premiership from our system and experience, certainly not the other way around.
-
If he leaves I’ll never forgive him for leaving us when he could have been part of long term success. He could have been drafted to the Suns and really struggled having to be the number 1 guy. He’s benefited greatly from the experience of those around him, and the opportunity that gave him to have success. We’ve undoubtedly increased his value more than he’s increased ours in terms of his next contract. Would a new 3 year contract have killed him? He’d be 25 and still able to go home on a big 5-7 year contract. He will be reminded by me at every Melbourne game that I support the Demons, and if you turn your back on the family you have to deal with the consequences.
-
I don’t know why people bother going to that ground. It’s an horrific experience. I’m actually annoyed with the club that they don’t stick up for us as supporters and force the AFL to not schedule us there. Had the game been at a better ground 25k+ extra supporters could have gone. Or, if the club won’t stick up for us, force the state Government to build a terrible stadium at Casey and we can play Geelong there every year for the next 25 years. If it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for us.
-
I hate that ground - it’s not AFL standard, and they recruit and train for a specific game style on it where they strangle sides. The games are so dull because the boundary is used far too often. 2 weeks ago Geelong played a ‘home game’ against Richmond at the G. We never get afforded that luxury and we are the premiers. Had they played tonight at the MCG another 30,000 people could have gone. They are a selfish, whinging, entitled club. I hope every Melbourne supporter in the country shows up if we play them at the G.

You can’t judge it in early July.

We had a lot of players down tonight. Salem looks a mile off, Jackson the same, Max looked underdone. We need consistency but I’m questioning the hunger. Time will tell.

I absolutely loathe this ground. It’s the worst football ground in the AFL. I’d love to know how many throw ins there are per game. -

I don’t understand the holding the ball rule. Hawkins took on 2 players and got caught red handed. Its the one rule the AFL need to fix as there’s far too much interpretation based on context and player involved.
