  1. Sunday was the first time at a game where I have booed not just to show frustration but disgust and anger not only to the players lack of skill and effort but to past administrations who have put us in this position. I'm quite satisfied other supporters booed as a collective as I believe Sunday was an emotional tipping point for everyone not just the supporters that showed up to the ground. I'm quite laconic these days when it comes to the Demons (turn up, lose, shrug it off, come to Demonland, repeat) as I thought any genuine passion for this club that I have supported for over 30 years had been beaten out of me through years of mismanagement and bad luck. I think a few fans actually surprised themselves on how angry they became towards the end of the match. Melbourne supporters by nature are passive rather than aggressive and that's due to a legacy of misery. Sunday was the first time I heard supporters be assertive and show their passion and say as a collective "enough is enough....even for us." I would never boo a team unless they deserved to be booed and on Sunday the club as a whole deserved it not only from me but the 12,000 that would have stayed as well till the end of the game. Sunday I believe was the last game you will see Melbourne supporters sit through a game like that and silently walk out the ground broken hearted.
  2. I only have two words for Chris Dawes - Flat Hands Have you noticed how many times Dawes bobbles the ball in the air after initial impact only to take it on the second grab? It looks like his hands are behind the ball rather than to the side which to me says his main priority is to minimise turnovers by keeping the ball in front of him rather than maximising his chances of a mark if he had his hands to the side of the ball. His hands are too flat to take overhead marks but if that's the case the rest of the team has to learn to kick it to his chest rather than above his head. Considering Gawn took some very nice overhead marks to me it just shows that Dawes doesn't have the natural ability to take overheads marks. Flat Hands.
  3. . He is now the best pointer at the club as well. From Neita to Moloney to Watts...
  4. In: speed, goal kicking practice (screw the sports scientists) Out: One way running and poor disposal and the trend of attempting a torpedo but shanking it out of defence to reset your zone before the opposition come back into their 50. In: Salem -Start him as sub - JKH to the forward line. Tell him to crumb at dawes feet for 75% of the game. Mitchie - Start him HFF - need presence when we have numbers back and look up the gorund to see Dawes in a 3 on 1 - has the body to provide a lead up option. Cross - Start in the centre M. Jones - Wing - run the lines between the arcs. Out: Terlich - No impact. Head is over the ball but terrible when he has it. Blease - May take the game on but doesn't know how to read the game or use his pace to defend. Watts - No impact, no desire, would be better @ Adelaide (and we'll give you a first rounder as well for Paddy Dangerfield) McKenzie - May be a prettygood tagger but he's slow, a terrible kick and as for that shot on goal.. I keep Riley in as he busts his gut and he’s still has value.
  5. "He's played a certain way for a long time and he needs to shift, because we're not bending to Col. Col will bend to us. He knows that and he understands that." Good luck with that Colin!
  6. What i learnt from today's game: -Tim Watson is having a family lunch tomorrow for his birthday. -Jobe didn't get a present and left it to his sisters. -Apparently Tim's wife is a great cook. -Tom Harley's kid is named after Jimmy Bartel. -Maybe the umpire was sorry for Melbourne after a free kick. -Tom Harley's guns are still pretty big. The worst commentary EVER!!!
  7. Take a Strepsil Hamish, your voice is annoying me!
  8. Can someone explain those 2 holding the balls? Seriously!!!!!
  9. I think you will find that a lot of Demons fans are paitiently waiting for the game this year with a quiet sense of optimism but some game time we'll be off the leash....oh and by the way Demons fans...if we are up and the game is beyond doubt...get the "Melbourne" chant going!
  10. Is it just me or could a new emblem be the reason behind the New Balance online sale? Gotta get rid of some inventory to make way for new stock next season....now it makes sense!
  11. That went 55 meters 90 degrees where it was supposed to go!

  13. Personally i would expand Indigenous Round to Multi-cultural Round. I belive it would be an even bigger celebration of all the nationalities and cultures that have come into our great game.
  14. My fiance and i will be heading over to the Adelaide Oval as well for that game. At least 3 Demons fans are confirmed as going! i rang the club a couple days ago and they have an allocation of reserved seats for $55. Club doesn't know where these seats are as yet.
  15. At least our jumper had dragons on them! PORT Adelaide is closer to playing a pre-season game in China next year — and opening new sponsorship deals in the lucrative Chinese market. The Power is considering two venues on the casino-driven Chinese island of Macau for a pre-season game that will put Port ahead of two AFL rivals — in particular Greater Western Sydney — in finding a new source of corporate money outside the increasingly crowded Australian market. “We’re thinking outside the square — and we need to such so that we can differentiate ourselves,” Port president David Koch said from China yesterday. “We’ve worked our ‘central corridor’ strategy in Central Australia from Adelaide to Darwin and now there is Melbourne and Essendon there as well. We have to find somewhere with clean air — and China offers that.”
  16. I went to a family reunion on Sunday (dad's side of the family). there were 60 of us in total. There were a couple neutrals, 8 Melbourne supporters and 40-ish Richmond supporters...and it was gooood!
  17. Watched it a few times and it looked like a slight double action. Cop the week, bring in Chip up forward and let's get ready for QB
  18. -Get coffee on way to work. -Log-on. -Open email. -Email my mate who i go to the footy with a Demons in joke. Something like "This is the best feeling i've had as a Melbourne supporter since the MCC put Penfolds Grange on tap!" or "I haven't felt this depressed as a Melbourne supporter since they got rid of the bugler." -Open 3 screens for Superfooty, Realfooty and Demonland. - Check for video and audio on SEN, AFL and MFC website. -Get stuck chatting about the footy with someone who hasn't been to a game since 2005. -Then get stuck chatting about the footy with a Collingwood supporter who has noooooooo idea what its like to go through what have. So what's your post footy work desk ritual?
