  1. Well after all that...i just realised that i have to change my username!!
  2. Calling it now and starting the petition. If and when the new training facility @ Gosch's Paddock is completed, it is called "The Nathan Jones Centre"
  3. Couple of sneaky Friday afternoon work frothys in and Emerson, Lake and Palmer are starting the pre-match mix (headphones in of course)
  4. Week 1 (When hope turns into happiness /despair) Port to hold off a fast finishing Cats by 5 points Bombers to cause an upset and knock out the Dogs (who look completely lost right now) by 17 points Melbourne to put in a 4 quarter professional performance and defeat Brisbane by 22 points (even after a 3rd quarter fightback from the Lions) GWS to be the anti-GWS and out grind the grinding Swans in a 2 point thriller Week 2 (Usually the most one-sided week of finals) Lions to take care of the Bombers by 30-36 points. Just too strong and the Bombers will run out of momentum. Cats to defeat a gallant GWS by 20-25 points. The benefit of this matchup is that Geelong's older playing list will be hanging on by a thread. Week 3 (The Cox Plate -The best weekend of Football all year) Demons to overrun a lethargic but determined Geelong with a last quarter 6-8 goal blitz. Dees by 30-40 points. Port Adelaide in another Preliminary Final classic but this time it goes the way of the Power. Port to defeat Brisbane by 2 points. Week 4 (The one where we win the whole F*cking thing) Grand Final will be held at Optus Stadium. A heavyweight title fight between the best 2 teams of the home and away season. After a tough 3 quarters where both sides have momentum but can't take advantage, I have the Dees in front at 3/4 time by 4 points. The lead won't blow out to more than 12 points for either side during the game. Our superior fitness will see us push out to a 24 point lead with 7 minutes to play. Port will kick a goal to bring it back to 18 points with 6 minutes to go. A steadier from Ben Brown will take the margin back out to 24 with 4 and a half to play. The "built for finals" gameplan will see us run the clock down with stoppage after stoppage for a 23 point win.
  5. Gees that Demon looks like it's about to be on an episode of "Botched"

Unfortunately, the site won't allow me to paste images but i think the best design for the facility would be based on the new Tottenham Hotspur Training Facility. We could have it constructed on the Car Park facing our oval (and not the Collingwood Football Club) and build it up to 5-6 stories tall (with underground parking for the existing Medical Clinics, offices etc) Based off Google Earth the dimensions of the rectangular Car Park and the area with the shed and storage tanks just to the south of it the building could be 150m long and 40m wide which would be more than enough room for a world class facility! Main Entrance to Demon Shop / Cafe-Social Club / Offices would be from the AAMI park concourse level. If i can figure out how to use Sketchup 3D i'll try and come up with a mock design. https://www.mclarengroup.com/projects/tottenham-hotspur-football-club-training-academy/
  7. Solid effort by the Crows but our ability to absorb pressure was sensational. Bring on next Saturday night!

The only reason I believe there is a knock on him this year is his lack of defensive pressure. There have been numerous examples of opposition players stepping around him too easily with only an outstretched arm as a form of a tackle. I can't remember him chasing down an opponent (even to cause a spoil) so while I can appreciate his offensive work (which clearly he is brilliant at especially his body positioning in a contest) his lack of any defensive pressure is obvious to see.

So to summarise... - Storm are building a facility to house their youth and women's teams @ Broadmeadows. Their men's team will still train and be based at AAMI Park. It will be their version of Casey Fields. - Rebels are training at Princes Park full time? - Victory still training at AAMI Park. Won't see that changing anytime soon as their proposed Footscray Park redevelopment was shot down. Only chance would be to have another council assist Victory with a new facility like Casey did with City.
  10. The best Dees set shot I've ever seen live for the MFC has been Jack Watts. Minimal body movement during the run up which kept the arms straight, ball drop was minimal and never tried to either drive through the ball or chip it towards goal. Watts accuracy was 67% (161 goals , 79 behinds)

Had a bit of a play with how a redeveloped Gosch's Paddock could look. Summary: Collingwood sized oval and running track MFC Facility with Pool / Gym / Offices (and the "Social Club / Function Centre") - 3 stories high. Approx Increased underground car parking Indoor Hall (like the EFC Hangar) towards the end of the facility. Modelled on the Casey Fields hall currently being developed but size increased to fit as much hall as possible. Can be used by Melb Victory / Storm. 2 x Rugby / Football pitches along Punt Road Upgraded running tracks around and between ovals Re-aligned off-ramp from City Link to meet up with Kelso Street intersection. Increased parkland. Common grass area. Small hill for oval viewing in top right hand corner. Upgraded seating, playground, exercise facilities placed around the park. Thoughts?
  12. Had $20 on Oliver for Rising Star last week @ $21 on Crownbet. This morning he is at $10.
  13. Went to the game and then watched the game as soon as I went home* (*couldn't see a third of the ground as I was next to a tree trying to get shade) Gees Oliver has some talent. After watching the replay yesterday and noticed a few things. 1) The pin point 50 metre switch pass to Pedersen deep in defence (which he dropped) then took a hanger from the very next kick coming back into defence. 2) In the 2nd half (pretty sure last quarter) he is tackled by 2 dogs players, he's lifted off the ground but somehow manages to fire off a handball twisting his body mid tackle and hitting a teammate 5 metres away over his shoulder. 3) Quick hands...gees there were some handballs that were like bullets. 4) Time and space...seems to find it. 5) Complaining after a tackle on the wing 3rd quarter, it was high but he hit the Doggies player with some force. 6) If you watch the game again you'll find him lurking around the packs most of the time like a shark ready to attack. From the Demons fans around me, Jordie 2.0 is already a firm fan favourite!
  14. I was lucky enough to win a signed jumper from Clayton during the NAB Draft. Already have the number 13 on the back and ready to see what this guy is made of! New article today on the Dees website: Oliver tempers expectations in first year
  15. I've heard that Melksham is such a popular player that he brings all the boys to the yard.
  16. Wouldn't be surprised if the MCC is pushing for the VCA's move to the Junction Oval. -Allows us to come home -Possibly ties in all commercial arrangements through the MCC and if the VCA use the ground could be as a guest rather than a tenant. - total control of commercial agreements all year round?
  17. Having had a quick think about this and not seeing the entire site in can be done pretty quickly. - Main thing is wether a new oval would be required. If so it would have to go behind the Olympic Stand. That hill would need to be carved down towards Jolimont station to flatten it out. Also there was work done in regards to a new water recycling facility in that area so that may be affected. - The indoor cricket nets area could become a gym floor as well as sprint lanes. - The outdoor practice wicket area could possibly be widened and extended be covered with a clear ETFE (Think its called that) roof to have an indoor training area similar to what Essendon have @ Tullamarine Airport. - Not a bad place to come to work everyday!
  18. That went 55 meters 90 degrees where it was supposed to go!
  19. Sitting in amonsgt the Cheer Squad saturday night (first time i've done that since i was about 8 years old - i'm 34 now!) there was a bit of a "Tooooooooummpas" sound going around when he got the ball...seems it's the 2013 "Ooooooooooooooze"
  20. Love the fact that Jimmy doesn't kick to where the player is but where to player has to be. Seen it a few times already where he motions the player to lead up to him rather than kick to the contest.
