  1. Too many here seem to think they know what Neeld wants from his midfield or talk about the Neeld team and rule players in or out. I don't profess to know that but I do think we will take Toumpas if available, he's a very good player that will step straight into AFL football. Agree 'Robbie', plus there has been a knock on his confidence and consistency. Sounds like Morton or a Trav. too much risk here. He may well be a player but...can we afford it? Can't see it either 'Ben', couldn't see the club making a commitment to something that is out of it's control. As you've said elsewhere the club may have an understanding with GWS re Toumpas but it is probably doubtful and we just need to see how the cards fall.
  2. I would be very surprised if Toumpas was available, very surprised if GWS don't take him and very surprised if he is and we don't.
  3. The go home factor is not such a big issue, particularly for a player like Toumpas. Worst case is unless we sign a stupid deal like the Tippett one is rumoured to be then Toumpas will have good currency and we would demand a high pick and or player for him... Besides we will be a club on the rise and he will be a part of something special at Melbourne, why would he want to go home? If he's available we should pick him, he is already a proven player in senior company with a premiership medallion to show for it.
  4. I agree with you on this 'dee'. I remember being at a final we played against WC at Waverley and one big difference between the teams was their sure ball handling in hot situations. They had players like Kemp and Mainwaring who were one touch and go, we had players getting to the ball and just a hair off getting and going. It's always stuck with me that.
  5. They same goes for Brock's opinion, unless he was told to lose a game then he has as much idea as you or I so I don't know why what he said has caused all of this rubbish. We could all see what was going on and form an opinion on it and that's hardly evidence of anything, it's just an opinion.
  6. Me too, good read....I'm going now.
  7. Good to hear that, it is a real weapon. A full pre season and we will see why some people rated him a steal at pick 18.
  8. This along with the Tippett business 'old dee'. the AFL have a number of battles at the moment that could test the fabric of the competition. If the draft and salary cap unravel then we are in a precarious position.
  9. 'Ben' I think Tappy lost a bit off his kick when he did the hammy, he still gives it a bit of a thump (probably not as flat as pre injury) and the mechanical side of his kicking is still spot on but the confidence is not back. In his first game he was pinpointing targets 50 to 60 metres and looked great but has probably lost 10 metres off his kick and the ability to spot up a target since the injury. A clear run this pre season and we might see him kicking a few from outside 50 and his kick being a real weapon around the ground.
  10. Unfortunately my inside information at headquarters tells me they are totally besotted with American sport, the NFL in particular and seek to follow it blindly.
  11. Looks good to me; seems there is still a bit of talent around for our later picks so we might snag another Tommy Mc.
  12. To his credit the normally affable "Gazy" wasn't having any of that "he was only 22" rubbish from Galbally, and scored a few points against the star QC.
  13. I'm thinking the same.
  14. Yep 'WYL' and he wasn't there for a polite chat either, reading between the lines he was letting the AFL know in a public forum that it's game on if they take action against the player. Interesting times ahead.
  15. I still think we should look at Stringer, probably the best all round talent in this draft.
  16. If it is we will be in as good a position to take advantage of it as any other club, we will not be penalised any draft picks from what I am reading here. The alleged tanking will be put to bed either by the AFL or through legal means.
  17. I'm thinking your more the George Bush, John Howard and Margaret Thatcher kind of guy 'Ben'.
  18. Taggert is around 7cm taller than Tappy, hasn't fully grown into his body yet.
  19. Is that the correct or politically correct reason? With a baby on the way I would have thought an AFL salary would be a good thing. Anyway...at least he got cold feet early and didn't take a spot on the list what ever the reason.
  20. She has certainly put up some derogatory posts about the MFC and it's supporters on the Age website which is a commonly used site by people on this forum.
  21. I would think you wouldn't have to reach any dark places to find it...and by definition wouldn't Wilson be the troll?
  22. Of course he won't but would have to be a consideration at pick 4 particularly if GWS take Wines.
