I reckon that sums him up pretty well.

Rivers is missed, he's a class act and reads the ball well. Will be a good fit for the cats and good luck to him. The other 2 forget about them. Martin did a couple of his party tricks tonight, did similar last year where he does a 360 and loses his compass. He is a big tease, looks about to do something great then can't complete. Moloney, pointed, gave away a few stupid frees, didn't push too far or chase too much but did get involved in a couple of good give and gets against an inexperienced Collingwood line up. Saw McGrath totally burn him at one stage, wasn't happy about something earlier on. They were impressive in the midfield with most of the good clearance work from Rich and Rockliff the clearance king got 2 a couple of gimme's, nothing in the centre. Interesting to see if they hold their spots throughout the season.

Hope so 'stuie'.

Having Leigh Brown who had a similar footballing history, high draft picked struggled to establish him self made good at Collingwood, would not hurt him either.

To think Gary Lyon when asked to comment on him said, "one word, Judd". I could never understand how he could make that call at the time and still don't for the reasons you've pointed out. He had a purple patch in a last quarter against the dogs that had people raving but my memory was a lot of possessions turned over or at best scrubbing 20 to 30 metre kicks. The only real asset he has is an ability to run all day and that may be an advantage when the interchange cap comes in.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
rjay replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
They stood down the coach while the investigation is going on citing management issues, he didn't know what was going on. Sound familiar? -
Would take that.

Was a real handful and set up our game beautifully...but the new ruck rules stopping his run and jump killed him and us, just about cost us a legit shot at the flag.
-
...and that's the beauty of it.

I think I could pick a pretty decent first 22 without looking at the stats as any football observer with their salt would. Having said that of course coach's look at the stats but stats alone don't really tell the story and along with a little faulty analysis give some of the anomalous results that posters are complaining about.

I think Sellar is a better bet in the ruck than Pedersen, he was used in that role at times last year, at Adelaide and in the SANFL so he has had plenty of ruck experience and the height to compete. ...but as the role would be primarily as a forward you are right to point out with the exception of last week he hasn't shown a lot to date and has been better settled in defence. The next couple of trial games will be show the way.

This whole issue is enough for a forum of it's own but part of what you say is true. Some of the pokie pubs are struggling because of poor management and some poor management has been covered up by pokie returns. The quality of music and production of live music has in a lot of cases dropped, partly because the money is not available to fund production costs. Free gigs, you get what you pay for....however your expectation is greater than that. Another part of the problem is that many musicians don't rehearse and turn up to shows with the wrong attitude. Many venues put on a band, do a door deal (excuse for not paying the band... band not getting paid usually poor quality) and expect them to bring the crowd, this is just passing on the responsibility. These are usually poor performing venues where the management has no idea or creative spark to build a crowd. The good venues know how to promote and run their operations. Just a few thoughts but you are right that everything can't be blamed on the pokies, I would say though that they have had a significant negative impact on the live music scene...pity, the real entrepreneurial operators could have built up some well performing entertainment venues. Some have been pushed that way now with diminishing returns from pokies and people wanting a more rounded entertainment experience.

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
rjay replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love it when he gets angry. What was he on about this time? -
Ok got you now, a bit slow tonight. There are a lot of 'If' players though. If his knees were ok, if he consistently played at that level, if he had his head screwed on....I guess it points to why we have struggled for success.

?

That's exactly what I mean, and I wouldn't be picking too many if any of our guys based form either. I also struggle with the idea of Grimes as an elite HB when he played last season as a mid.
-
I think I've said something like this before but if you picked teams using the old school method of lining everyone up against the shelter shed and the captains selecting their teams one at a time does anyone think they would care too much about what champion data has to say?

Killed live music.

Agree 'Jack', unless there is a major disaster it's time to put all the BS aside and let the club have a clear run at it. Players, Coach, FD, Board and Management. -
None around that time for me.
-
Good, the work done so far started to show dividends on the weekend. We could at least be up there as the strongest tackling side by end of season and this will translate to wins.
-
Good player Selwood, all of them. Viney the new version and Sellar is showing some promise as the forward ruck option.

It's kind of true what you say 'old', but where is the advantage here, that's the bit I don't get. Pretty much every coach is speaking out against the changes. By the way, on the surface I think the cap seems a good idea but back to the coach's. If only one or two were speaking out you would have an educated guess that it didn't suit there team, there mix of players or game structure, they would be talking though their self interest but if all of them are who is getting an advantage. Is their problem that they are all egomaniacs who are freaking out because there view is not being taken as gospel (in Malthouses case that probably stacks up), are they fearful of losing any influence they still have on game day or do they actually have a point here. The win loss thing does't stack up at all in this debate.

The North people cause a lot of trouble at the club and probably for the right reasons if they want to keep their club playing games in Melbourne. Don't like their long term chances. Watch the Tiges if they don't make finals this year, the lid will blow. -
Something that has been missing at MFC, Neeld has worked to get this fixed and it looks to be on the improve. The proof will be when we see the complete squad doing the same.
