  1. VFL park was no mistake...the AFL were able to leverage the deals they have now with the MCC because of it. We would be looking at a completely different competition if it wasn't for Waverley. This is why the word is out on a new stadium, it's about creating a bargaining chip to get a better deal with Docklands. History is repeating itself. Geelong is now a boutique stadium and is being sold as such since the redevelopment. Transport infrastructure is the big one and will need to be dealt with stadium or no stadium, a stadium would create the extra incentive to see it done. There is also talk of an airport in the region so things will move on as the area grows. If they can't draw a crowd at Casey then the game will be in bad shape. They have had no trouble filling the Geelong ground and by the way Geelong will be a Western suburb of Melbourne in the not to distant future. ...look I'm not talking the next couple of years here and with Docklands moving to AFL ownership nothing will happen in the inner city area, but in the next 20 years there will be some movement and Casey would be well considered. With the clubs involvement in the region I'm sure we are looking at another Bentleigh type venture, pity we couldn't get it up and running at Casey fields or maybe we can in the near future.
  2. Nothing about being built specifically for us but since Waverley has gone there is nothing in the eastern/south eastern region of Melbourne and given that Casey is the biggest growth area it could be a good option. The Western region is covered by Geelong, I don't see any sense in another stadium in the inner city area. Neither Ballarat or Bendigo are big enough to sustain a 25 to 30k seat stadium. It would be a project generated by Government and the AFL, it will happen in the next 20 years.
  3. If there is talk of a boutique stadium it should be at Casey, with 2 major stadiums in the City of Melbourne, 1 boutique stadium in Geelong then it makes sense for a second stadium at Casey. What this does for us who knows but it makes sense that this area needs a quality stadium.
  4. They haven't played a game yet... It's all Micky Mouse at the moment, the last ones who were ripping it up have been delisted, couldn't get a game and or retired (Buckley, Bruce, McDonald, Maric for starters). So many bemoaned the loss of Buckley when he was getting a kick at the Pies but where is he now???? Some will go on and play good footy elsewhere but the players we have had recently are just not good enough, it's why we are where we are on the ladder. Poor recruiting, poor players...the real gems come from good clubs, players that can't get a regular game like the Kennedy's of this world. Moloney is yet to deal with a tag at his new club and we all know how well he handles that, if Black gets back it may help him. If he does that this year well and good but it's hardly an avalanche of ex demons ripping it up.
  5. I must be blind but where are all these talented ex demons that are ripping it up at other clubs?
  6. Punt road is the only problem with Punt road, no room if they keep the current ground. Anyway, let them develop PP like Elliot tried years back and Carlton can have it for their home games. Sounds like Waverley all over again...
  7. It could well be the making of our club if we make the right moves. Most important for us is to look after the younger players coming out of contract like Frawley who will get a lot of interest, just as well he is not at free agent status yet. Losing players like Silvia will free up money to pay Frawley, Watts and the younger brigade who are vital to our future and maybe lure someone like Thomas. This is a very important year and if we start to see some progress then with some money in the bank the right player will want to come to the club and the current group will want to be part of something good. More of last year and it will be a tough sell.
  8. 28yo, unfulfilled potential....he'd better show a marked improvement on his NAB cup form or no club will be interested. A lot like Kosi is Col, time is running out.
  9. If they want to go home they can head back to Princess Park...or set up a new ground in Lygon Street. ...or maybe Kernahan can head back to Glenelg and takeover that ground.
  10. There's no doubt he can play, but you have to go by his actions and if Richmond off load him then they are not good. If you've ever looked someone in the eye with major issues, they are really good at looking you straight back and telling you what you want to hear. Unfortunately that seems to be the case here, I hope the kid can get on track but with the scrutiny on players these days it's going to be hard for him. All this stuff about being solid citizens, fine young men and having the great character etc. as I alluded to before there would be a few legends of the game (not only the obvious recent ones), some of them great leaders on field who would have struggled under the scrutiny of todays AFL but they could really play.
  11. So you don't think Hardwick and the rest at Tigerland haven't tried. If only it were that easy 'stuie', if only we lived in the past where legends of the game could get away with almost anything because they could play football and their clubs covered for them. This is not a challenge, a challenge is something where you have a chance of winning.
  12. Would probably have to give up our first rounder to get him, he is a long way off being a free agent and I doubt he has a Tippett/Adelaide deal.
  13. Yep, good point and probably the right thing to do. Will be interesting to see how it pans out.
  14. The point is the other clubs have acknowledged that Dank worked with them, we have said he hasn't. She seems to believe this not to be true and that he has done some consulting work with us, she didn't say it outright but reading between the lines this is the accusation, she doesn't have enough faith in her source to come right out at the moment. The club needs to stomp on this if it is untrue as they've said in the past.
  15. If they are found guilty they won't have any players to play out the season or coaches to coach.
  16. The question I've asked before is "should the AFL suspend the club until the outcome of the investigation", it would make a mockery of the season if they are forced to pull out part way through.
  17. Whateley and Robbo from 360 must get their info from the same posters. Since the tanking biz we are back to being small to no news and the other night they didn't have much of a clue as to when Clark would be back but as throw away said something like 4-8.
  18. That's pretty obvious 'Redleg', but how long can the club put up with this...and if the club has made misleading statements then he has just opened the door to more of the same.
  19. Then if the story is true the club needs to take some action and by this I mean if Dank did any work at our club the person or people who denied it need to go, we can't afford amateur hour (or any hour) cover ups. Then we need to look at why he was there who brought in and what he did. Maybe he was there for 2 mins and our guys said no way or maybe it's all a total fabrication and the real story is he applied and the club knocked him back.
  20. Examine it for a second. There has been no interview with a Demon in the Age recently that I can recall. Therefore she has spoken to a few players somewhere and asked them if they saw Dank at Melbourne and they said yes. I doubt that. I doubt our players would even speak to her. PS. Who has she called for to be sacked this week? That is her raison d'etre ( reason for existence). I doubt she has made it up, I don't like her editorial approach but she usually has her facts right or at least she reports what she believes to be accurate from her source. At worst she is correct and the club has been less than truthful, at best she is reporting a source with an axe to grind. Both of these scenarios leave me flat as if our pre season form has not been bad enough. As 'WYL' says this needs to be stomped on now, this needs to be smashed out of the ball park. Some have said they know who has been causing the trouble so if they do it's time to spill the beans, everything needs to be cleared and the FD need clean air going forward otherwise we might as well all give up now.
  21. I'm actually more concerned that several players have reported seeing him. Who are they talking to and why? who is still white anting the club? This rubbish has to stop and this is also where the club needs to put it's foot down and come out on the attack when the press start printing this stuff. As supporters and members it's time the club stood up for us and left us in no doubt at all that Wilson is talking rubbish. If there is any truth in what she infers surely the players would have reported some interaction with Dank, but if it is more than that then heads need to roll and now.
  22. I think the AFL cap restrictions didn't apply for these games this weekend, only for the GF so it was open slather on rotations.
  23. Agree with most of what you are saying and that game against Port was the best I've seen us tackle in memory.
  24. From what I understand Moloney is a pretty good bloke, I didn't see the NAB GF but from what I saw last week he really isn't going to offer to much more than he did with us. We needed to move on and have, end of story.
