  1. The best player in the next draft is a key forward. do we pick him?
  2. It has to be a worry for Rohan and the club and I know there is no scientific evidence on the use of helmets but Paul Callery swears by it and it didn't hurt Gary Wilson. It's got to be worth a try if he's going to continue playing. As an ex player it's probably a good time for Paul and Rohan to have a chat.
  3. That is a really good idea. An announcement was made that he was subbed off then I saw him in green and thought that we had stuffed up and someone lost the red one or forgot to put it on him. The announcement maybe should also state subbed for test or something like that.
  4. I think it's a pretty good comparison, similar type of player and did he play well tonight.
  5. Let's open up the can of worms. NikNat, Jack Darling, Atley, Zaharakis...... He does look good though, how would he be with us? no support at all...Viney has to do it on his own.
  6. No, not good enough.
  7. Ross was a pretty good player, but I agree with your point.
  8. What did Hafey and Jeans do in their playing careers?
  9. ...but that's the point we don't have a Cotchin, Martin, Delidio, Pendles, Swan, Thomas, MItchell, Hodge, Sewell. Not a one, and these players are the foundation that the other lesser players can build their game on. You are right with the age bracket though, no point recruiting players from other clubs past I would think 26-27 yo unless they are A graders and even then????
  10. The minimum would be like for like or similar if he wants out. We need a 24-25yo who has made AA or close as a swap, maybe even a mid and remember that key backs are harder to come by. A pick is not on here we need some games experience if we are trading it away. Maybe a Christiansen or Duncan at the Cats. Hawthorns good mids are a bit too old but maybe Shoenmakers. The WC trade above has some merit. While we're on it the same thing goes with Watts a 22yo 50-60 games unfulfilled talent but a big upside. Reid at Sydney is one that comes to mind, but they are covered well in defence, Swallow from GC. That's the type of player you would look for, players who have shown enough to tease but done nothing to prove themselves yet. Don't get what we want then no go, we need to get something to give and something good. Frawley no matter how he has the sooks now is an AA key position player and Watts has a huge upside. I would like to see them both stay but if they go talk like the North 2nd round pick for Watts is a joke.
  11. ...but maybe at the expense of talent.
  12. I like it, maybe they should have an option for it if poss. I get that others want to watch the game later but for me I like real time info.
  13. No, only as an assistant. Not good enough at senior level.
  14. Was thinking the same 'Theo', Roden, Byrnes, Pederson and Gillies have shown nothing to date. Some of the recruiting has been good but the ideal of bringing age, experience and games into the club is based on statistics but forgets about ability. Roden and Byrnes seem like real good blokes, the type you like to have around a club but they no longer have the zip to play senior AFL football and are list cloggers. Being a good bloke just doesn't cut it. I hope Dawes can really step up but I do have my doubts. I'm not convinced with Barry either, he doesn't like the contest at all, if he can turn this around then good, if he can't we may well have wasted 13 and 20.
  15. Winter has been here since 1965 with the exception of a couple of false Springs. It is a long dark winter and it's not coming it is well and truly here.
  16. He had a couple of clangers which stood out but in general his ball use and run was much better than what we've been getting from down back, not that it would be too hard.
  17. Agree mate, it was an amazing mark. One of the best I've seen, usually they come from behind and get a ride but he came from in front, turned and jumped on his opponents shoulders without the lift.
  18. Tommy has a long way to go but seems willing to have a go and do the work...I thought our best down back today was Terlich.
  19. The first game Bailey coached was when it became unacceptable and nothing much has changed since. The idea of bottoming out to build a team has left us right up the creek.
  20. They played him too early, his NAB form did not warrant a game. Kent was a more obvious selection and would have come in with some runs on the board. Just noticed your post above 'ash' as I'm writing this and I think you are on the money about #4. Jimmy will be ok, but imagine coming into this team and with no runs on the board.
  21. Agree 'Nasher', and he is a great let out kick for the defence.
  22. The ex ASADA boss didn't seem to think so, he said the code didn't apply to coaches but needed to be tightened up so it did. Is what he is saying incorrect?

    AFL Round 3

Some of the goal kicking has been amazingly bad. The Auskick kids would be disappointed with some of these efforts.
  24. That's the type of attitude we want, very different to a high draft pick of a few years back who was happy to develop at Casey and then give it a crack. He did neither. When you're on an AFL list you've got to go all out to play in the AFL side no matter what the coaches and development people are telling you. You keep playing well and you force their hand. Howe and McDonald are great examples of this.
