He has a huge upside if he can stay fit. 208cm mobile tap ruck man, gets his own ball around the ground and can kick goals. Watched him take Ben Hudson to the cleaners a few years back when playing for Casey.

Could be a really good option. If the AFL backs Anderson then I would think a lot of guesswork as to why he left may be well off the mark and he too would be a good option. Only problem I see is he may divide the membership because of his role in the tanking saga, we don't need any more division in the club. A'Rocca didn't do himself a lot of favours on the way out of North.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
rjay replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually have little care about this stuff at the moment. We have a lot more to worry about with our own club. -
It will be someone in the AFL system now, we can't afford anyone without experience in the football industry. The AFL will have a big say in this appointment.
-
Now that would be funny, but a bit of a commute from Buninyong.
-
They were for us first and foremost, you might not like the way they've approached it with the new rules and interpretations but I don't think anyone liked the congestion and rugby style scrums that had come into the game.
-
He's also overseas on study leave at the moment, is proven as the best football administrator in the business but not likely to leave Geelong now after committing to the Cat's following the bid from North. We do have to ask the question though.

Me neither, I forgot the n't on the did. Will edit if that's ok.

Spot on, I think I mentioned Anderson's name for CEO when he left the AFL. It was not a serious suggestion, he carries way too much baggage at our club for our club. I'm pretty sure the AFL will be involved in the process of getting the right person for the job.

Fair chance he did, he certainly didn't back him in anyway last night.
-
Move one divisive figure out and replace him with another. No matter what qualification and qualities he brings he would also bring way to much baggage.

The standard and culture at Geelong was driven from the top, this gave the players a framework to build their structure on. Can't happen from below, get the top right everything else will follow.
-
...not interested in politics yet he still seemed to get involved non the less.

Did anyone see Gary as a natural for a media career after football? Right place right time with Ian Johnson at the club. One of our big problems with ex players is that premierships bind them to a club. Some of our old premiership players still get together on a regular basis, if you don't have that bond it is so much more difficult. The best thing I saw on TV last night was the Open Mike with Mathew Scarlett, I watch these occasionally but only with passing interest because we know most of the back story. Because Mathew rarely speaks it was a fascinating insight not only to him but a little bit on Geelong as well. He certainly spoke out at the time when the media were on 'Bombers' back and rang Mike to say he would walk if he was sacked. Very interesting story for those who think the players should stick to playing and are not influenced by what goes on in the club.

That's how I see it 'Jaded', I think the best result would be for Don and the board to check their ego's at the door and go to the AFL to find the best administrator and move Schwab out of the club. Unfortunately they haven't shown any willingness to listen to reason and have been stubborn in supporting a dead duck. Their energy's would be better spent revitalising the club. This is why the call for the AFL to step in.

I think you are a bit to close, I understand you may be happy with how things are going now and believe that things are in place to move forward...but surely you can't think the rebuild under Bailey has been a success.

Caro wants everyone sacked but this time she is not a lone voice. It is the right thing to do.
-
...and Gary has been reading the tea leaves, he didn't stand up for his mate at any time. Not really a surprise either.
-
Yeah, thought that was a funny quote from a journo.
-
I think quite a few have explained that he is being handled carefully after a back injury. They are not pushing him at the moment.
-
My guess is what it will cost to pay in pay outs. Schwab or Neeld?
-
Just won the cricket premiership again. Now he is one person who wouldn't have a clue.
-
Not a fan but agree with what he is saying, and not a knee jerk from me, I've been saying it since last year.

It's the only KPI worth a cracker 'PaulRB'. The preseason was looking pretty good until the NAB kicked in and no matter what the KPI's were any half astute judge of football could see we were getting more of the same.
-
Not more of the same 'jnrmac', he does need to say something and can't hide that's for sure but less said the better, not send the spin merchants out on Sunday. It was a joke hearing Schwab trying to sure up Neeld's position when he is the one under at least as much if not more pressure. The decisions are not being well made at HQ, the Neeld pre game for example was a decision made by people lost for ideas.
