...and he hits targets. I reckon in the coming draft that is one of the things Aish brings. Admittedly I've only watched a couple of 18's games but he's very good with the ball under pressure.
-
Well my favourite moment of the weekend was the great performance of Port exposing the Pies weaknesses. Anyone got something better than that???
-
At least it shows us the value of a top experienced coach.
-
I would like to see anyone try and make Jonno Brown do anything he didn't want to do.
-
I think the only issue with Simpson is if he picks up the Brisbane job now and/or thinks he is ready to step up. He seems to be laying the groundwork for a good coaching career and he is current, he brings this element to the table which is important as Roos has been out of the cut and thrust for a few years now....but as you say I'll back Roos on this. I'm not sure if Ling is doing the right thing by himself if he wants to coach by spending another year in the media, he could well go the way of many others who find it a little easier to sit on the outside looking in. It's never the right time.

Ask the players he tagged.

Agree 'Jack', their players would be considered untouchables until cleared. Also agree with the thoughts of 'rpfc' and 'rhino', the competition of which we are part can't afford the club to be crippled. I'm not a fan at all but that is cutting your nose off....Hird should not be allowed back though, that's enough penance for me. The rest is up to ASADA.
-
I Craig gets the gig it could be on.
-
Agree, Ling would be good. As you say if Ling has signed already there would be no need for an interview tomorrow, he would be turning up to work with Roos on Monday morning. If he is turning up for an interview then it would seem like PJ is turning up the heat or maybe they have the Sunday barrel back in football.

One of Neelds best decisions.
-
Gazza was smart enough to realise he wasn't smart enough to be a good coach.
-
No, it won't be Voss, he hasn't got the communication skills and had his players offside. Voss doesn't understand how to let go and delegate, he's not a good listener and this is a big problem. Roos is a very good communicator and knows how to tap into the people around him, this is the type we need to take over. Ling is one I would look at but his only problem is he has been in the media for a couple of years, Roos will be looking for someone in the system working with a successful club to help him out (smart man Roos) so Simpson and Tudor would be at the top of the list. I still wouldn't completely rule Ling out though, his people skills and understanding of the game would be enticing.
-
Thanks 'rpfc', good idea. I think something like that is what will happen here. It seems Roos and Jackson are pushing this line, it would appease the other clubs (at least a little bit) to have a shot at number one and not have it go to GWS again. It's a good strategy and I like it, I do think that we will still end up with the pick but the other clubs will have to put up or shut up.
-
Pendles or O'm...maybe not. Not sure that GWS would go with Aish, they have plenty of mids Scharenberg might be a better pick for them to strengthen the defence. Of course they will also be in the market for senior class so may trade.
-
...and he was right on the money. We will get pick one but it looks like the angle is that we will have to trade it as long as the deal ticks the AFL boxes.
-
I'm starting to think we will get pick one on the proviso that we trade it on, given the right deal of course. A while back someone brought up a system used I think in US where the pick is to be traded but if the right offer is not made it reverts back to the team given the pick. Could anyone fill us in on how it works because I now think that's what is going to happen. It takes the heat out of giving us a PP with the other clubs.
-
If we get PP1 I think we will still take Boyd, all supposition at the moment though.
-
That's why the clubs haven't run the competition since 1993. The AFL will make a decision based on the best interests of the game.
-
It's absolutely crucial we get the right football chief, Roos knows the value of Andrew Ireland when he held the job when at Sydney. We can't afford to do anything half baked.
-
Also played some midfield because of his running capacity. I'm pretty sure he was named AA CHB.
-
I think one of them, Vardy might have to replace Hawkins if he doesn't get any better. He goes alright up forward and much better than Spencer.

Yes and Ottens is hard to replace...but the current Geelong rucks are streets ahead of Spencer in their ability to get the ball around the ground.

Well I don't think Junior had another finals campaign unfortunately and he didn't play a full season with GWS, he was struggling by the end. I hope to see Chappy finish at Geelong.
-
Don't agree, well big games anyway. Why do you think Geelong is still persisting with an injured Hawkins? Take Cloke out of Collingwood and see how many games they win, lucky for them he is very durable. You need a balanced team and I think our forward combination is nowhere near as good as others here see it, particularly as the key component can't get on the ground. It's very, very hard to get a quality forward and if we get the chance we take it.

I think you are underselling the Geelong ruckmen. Ottens was very good around the ground and forward, West whilst not as good is versatile as are Vardy and Blitz. Spencer doesn't offer a lot at the moment.
