  1. If it means eating more pasta then I'm on board 'Diamond-Jim'... Forget the pirates, I'm off to make up a good sauce.
  2. I've posted similar before. Our set up in the forward half for centre bounces is way too congested & doesn't let us take full advantage of 666. We get around 15 to 20 seconds without numbers flooding back into our forward half yet we don't use the space to advantage. The one time we did open it out was in the last minute of the GC game because we needed to score quickly & we did. Now i know my thinking may be a bit simplistic but why don't we use this as our default set up rather than our current inefficient model that sees high inside 50 numbers with poor score conversion????
  3. I'm not sure if my posts are criticism or observation. They are my opinions...you don't like them and I don't really care. Sack the coach, please. No I don't want to sack the coach unless the club deems and he proves that he's no good. I hope and don't think we're at that stage yet... Goodwin is still a young coach, in his 3rd year. I don't know if he can or can't coach but what I do know is that young coaches take time to mature into the role. Part of that maturity process seems to be the ability to listen and take on board alternative views, to not stick with something that is not working. Thompson, Hardwick and Buckley have all been there and there was a point in their tenure where they were forced to change direction or they would have been out of a job. The greatest of the modern coaches Clarkson has changed time and again, continually reinventing himself and his team. As I've said elsewhere the writing was on the wall since the Prelim. Injuries of course haven't helped us but there also seems to be blind faith placed in a game plan that is not working. It didn't work last year against the best so it's no surprise it's not this year with an inferior team to execute it. Goodwin will have a stronger team around him next year and should be more consultative in his coaching. Our game plan will need to evolve. I think so far he's been stubbornly sticking to what he thinks will work... If he's smart he will learn his lessons well, if not he will be just another sacked coach.
  4. He kicked 4 in a JLT game and a lot of people are hanging his potential and ability on that... From someone who was a borderline player he now often gets mentioned in the same breath as some of the walk up starts & as best 22. I agree with you, he hasn't show anywhere near enough. I also have doubts as to whether he will.
  5. It was shown up badly and picked to pieces in the Preliminary final by WC and by Collingwood mid year. So, if that is the game style (and it appears to be what we are using again this year) then I would think it needs major adjustments. It's not going to take us all the way.
  6. I hope we wait at least another week on Lever. Not playing out the game on the weekend, it would be better if he had a bit more managed match time before coming in. Having read the training report it seems he may have to hold off anyway.
  7. Another of footballs many great myths. Exhibit A: Frawley He will recruit horses for courses, he's too smart to be locked into a mantra.
  8. Maybe overselling the story a bit 'hard'...
  9. Going by the SEN interview he didn't seem to think he was slow... Many seem to equate words like inside mid & hard at the ball as meaning too slow.
  10. My first choice would be Richardson if the Saints flick him, Scott but think he will get a senior gig or maybe Bolton who will be looking for a job next year...
  11. He's a career coach mate, of course he does.
  12. That's the template for all coach and politician leaving speeches... He will spend some time for a few months and be back as senior coach somewhere after this season is over for some club if not before.
  13. Out: Selection Committee We lose Salem before the game & bring in Spargo...FMD I reckon Lewis should have retired at the end of last season but even he makes more sense as a replacement for Salem.
  14. That he's made the phone call to Clarkson...
  15. I wouldn't be too fussed losing any of the trio. Rawlings has been around long enough now, been really good for the club but may need a change. Jennings, for all his renown as a game strategist it hasn't been showing in out game plan. Maybe more to do with our serious injury list and not his fault but I think he's looking to further his career and it makes sense for him to move on in the near future. Mahoney won't go to the Roos, his next move will either be away from football management to more of a rounded management position with another club or the AFL. We need some more experience in this role with an inexperienced head coach. With the coaching merry go round in full swing, Richo is the one I would be wanting. Has a great reputation as an assistant coach and strategist. Will be a good get for someone. I hope we are in contact with his management to let him know we are interested.
  16. Maybe it's not complicated 'Sorry', but for some reason it's taken us around 50 years and counting along with many different boards & administrations, even some not run by Gary Pert. So it would seem a difficult proposition.....
  17. It's seriously dreadful umpiring tonight 'mono'...each umpire has his own interpretation. The only thing they have in common is free kick Collingwood.
  18. Has the footy smarts to get out the back on his own. None of our other small forwards can do it...so we stick with Jeffy until we find someone else.
  19. I think more likely Whitfield... I would like to see Gus go head to head with Coniglio but unfortunately the FD want to play him out in no mans land. So if that's the case then maybe Viney could do a team job running with Coniglio...
  20. ...and even though they struggle at the 'G', we're not so great there ourselves. So I wouldn't bank that as being an advantage. GWS near full strength and us still lite makes for a tough one to win I would think ...but stranger things have happened.
  21. This old chestnut...
  22. 2,437 posts probably says you are... Wallace basically said in his 40 years of football it's always been about who you are, so he has called it out.
  23. He obviously didn't disguise it very well if 99% of the football world knew...
  24. If Mumford plays then we play Preuss and let them go toe to toe... My money would be on Preuss.
