Joel and Frosty have similar attributes...great athletically but little to no footy IQ. I think Preuss is a good chance for round 1 given that Port go with the 2 ruck option. It will also be a matter of seeing if the new rule changes make any difference to whether you get a real advantage running 2 rucks. I'm a bit dubious like yourself but will wait and see.

Hopefully he's racking up 30+ possessions at Casey and pushing for selection. This is what ANB did consistently to make his case.
-
At least he's starting with 2 good shoulders this season. I thought his ball handling wasn't as good last season & some tackles slipped...that's coming from an extremely high base by the way. Not surprising with what he carried. I wonder when the injuries kicked in?

Well , we've sorted Tommy Mac's toe so I guess we have to find something to slash our wrists over...

One of the great guitar players (and one of my favourites), Reggie Young passed away a couple of days back. Think 'In the Ghetto', 'Suspicious Minds', 'Son of a Preacher Man' & 'Drift Away' to name just a few..that's Reggie. RIP Reggie... This is a nice tribute to Reggie from some pretty special players... Plus some nice Reggie Riffs from the man himself...

Tend to agree 'Mach'... If Lewis plays more than 10 this year then he's either having a remarkable season or we're struggling. More likely the later at this stage of his career. I expect he will either be injured or play a lot of footy at Casey in 2019.

Weids ready to grab opportunity with both hands

I've often thought his progress would mirror Kennedy of WCE fame...similar type of player, Kennedy came to Carlton as a stick figure but look at him now, he was a slow burn. Weed came to us as a stick figure, has built up, attacks the ball hard like Kennedy and shares a willingness to put pressure on opponents and lay hard tackles. I think he will break out this year, the only reservation I have is him putting too much pressure on himself. -
Sometimes (more often than not) to quote Frank Zappa, as a player "you are what you is and that's all it is"... How many people thought Robbie just needed a bit more muscle on his sleight frame? No matter how much he tried it was never going to happen Trac has a big frame, he's a big guy, always has been & he uses it to his advantage. He's not over weight or muscle bound like Conlin & Templeton back in the day... There's a bit of Dipper about him, could you imagine a scrawny, skinny looking Dipper?

More likely to be used as a KPD where the Pies are a bit light on...

Malthouse can be an astute judge at times, and at others he just goes for the headline. This was the later, going for the headline, appearing relevant, making the big statement. An astute judge would have talked about the age and experience of the team and how good teams learn to be more consistent when they get more games under their belts.

I would take McCrae...I reckon he's exactly what we need but with a bit of luck KJ could be the answer this year.

Maybe interesting to look at starting 4's... C/Wood Grundy, Pendles, Treloar, Beams Tiges Nank, Martin, Cotchin, Prestia GWS DS, Ward, Taranto, Hopper Us.....Gawn, Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw Looks like C/Wood & Us. I would give Us the edge but I'm surprisingly biased...

Bit strange really... They don't even have Ablett as a midfield rotation for the Cats or Petracca for us. C/wood and Richmond sell. Classic click bait...

I can't see complacency being an issue. However expectation is high. The question I have and the logic that follows is that we have been on a steady upwards trajectory since PJ and Roos came on board. At some point there will be a dip. Can we go all the way with incremental forward movement towards the flag from here? Can we get that flag before the dip? Or will we take a step back? Will Demonland meltdown if we drop back this year? There are no guarantees in football (as in life). I've heard a number of our supporters say that 2020 is our year, it's when we will be ripe and ready. Maybe, but we're in the so called window now so we need to snag one in the next few seasons. Interesting times ahead and maybe a few meltdowns along the way. Be prepared for the bumps...

Yep, Ryan Burton.... ...but they traded him to Port.
-
That's why we will wait until the last minute to use this pick...we don't know what injuries we may get and where we will need coverage.
-
He's listed at 182cm in his draft profiles but looks a bit taller in the training photos...Hard to tell though. Might have grown a bit since. Maybe @Satyriconhome could ask the question?

Smith is a great player & leader but in this instance I'm not so sure he is being selfless. He held the Storm over a barrel to get the 2 years when logic (and Storm) says it should have been a one year deal at his age. I guess if someone deserves the right to be a little selfish it's Cam,. Just don't believe the spin....
-
He's not got indigenous blood... This article might clear thing up. https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/port-coach-mark-williams-great-great-grandad-was-a-slave/news-story/d3160104373d807e83716d8cd455a489

Jackovich is streets ahead of Green 'WERRIDEE' and to be honest if we had these forward riches I would slip him into FF & then have the luxury of Neitz going back to his best position at CHB. I would then bring Jurrah into the pocket to replace Green. Farmer, Jackovich & Jurrah would be the most freakish FF line of all time.

Very similar with a Full Back moved Forward and doing the job...

He unfortunately missed a lot of easy shots on goal that you would expect a professional (or any level for that matter) footballer to kick.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - KADE KOLODJASHNIJ
rjay replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think the club holds a similar view 'Pro', as do I for what it's worth. Any talk of a trade was quickly knocked on the head... I look forward to seeing what he brings this year. -
As we get ready to see in the New Year let's hope we can realise the promise that was shown in 2018 and bring home the big one. ...but more importantly here's wishing a happy and healthy New Year to you all. Cheers, Rjay

No matter which way you cut it 'Cranky', Pedders was finished as an AFL player. I suspect Smith will be gone at the end of this season but the ball is in his court now. He will need an outstanding season at Casey and to really take his opportunities if he gets the call up.
