  1. Max is working on lifting his profile for post football and current outside of football activities. Maybe he could write some Bob Murphy style articles about the game but in his own quirky manner. Agree, he needs to STFU about us... I'm sick of hearing from players and coaches of the MFC...
  2. Balme was a good strategic investment at Richmond, Collingwood were smart in getting Walsh on board after losing him. I would look at Gubby...he's probably the only one out there with experience and guile to do a good job. Never thought I would say that but...
  3. Didn't really look the goods before he was injured.. As a junior he didn't get a lot of the ball and was not a goal kicker. At his size he has to do more than just tackle, run fast...and get a couple of kicks He's following a similar path to another couple of kids that have been on the list, Dom Barry & Dion Johnstone. They looked ok but couldn't find enough of the ball. So...just a feeling I have. Hope I'm proved wrong...
  4. Can't see Baker of Bedford making it...have doubts on Petty, not sure he is quick enough (pace and decision making) for AFL level. Would like to see Sparrow taking Nev's spot down back but with Viney going down may come into the midfield.
  5. I think Mahoney will be gone at the end of this year... Port's win now trades haven't worked for them only Rockliffe is playing at the moment out of that group. The young talent is driving them from underneath.
  6. I would be prepared to trade anyone on the list with the exception of Oliver and Gawn. The other exception is I no longer trust the current football bosses to get the right deal. If we had a proven, experienced football manager in charge of the deal then almost anything is on the table... Including nothing if they think that is the right thing.
  7. Have said this before but we now have 2 inexperienced heads of the FD... I don't like it. Trade/Draft decisions have been made on the assumption of where the list is/was and I reckon it's been overrated. That's a classic football club error. Our list is ok but not as good as has been suggested We will need someone with experience to put the build back on track. Over to you Mr Pert, who can you get in to sort it out.
  8. Following on from the whack Robbie Gray in the guts move that had him off the ground earlier in the game.
  9. I think we should throw everything at Paton... I mean just what we need is another big money recruit who can't get on the park.
  10. Not quite true 'CB'...apparently Bill has guaranteed Labour will go ahead with the liberal promise of $15 million that was in Frydenberg's budget. https://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2019-04-26/a-new-sports-hub-for-victoria Unusual for the Herald Sun to mislead... ...and also disappointing that we're nowhere to be seen when the money is going around.
  11. They will win by around 60 at least 'Nasher'...
  12. Open your eyes mate..and don't go off half cocked. He's not fast, he turns the ball over a bit and I don't necessarily want to trade him. However, I think we need to be open to trades if the right deal comes along. If you read earlier posts I think the only 2 players that are untouchable are Gawn and Oliver... You might add Brayshaw to that list. I was having an adult discussion with 'A F' about this, he thinks we should keep Brayshaw and he maybe right. We do need to make changes to the composition of the list, last year Port bit the bullet and traded Wingard. A gutsy move that so far has paid dividends with the kids they brought in.
  13. No, lets just sit on our hands & get more of the same...
  14. Maybe he should spend some time with Dipper and understand you can still be everyones friend, just not on the footy field...
  15. I fear that we are heading down the path of English soccer with this mindless behaviour at the football. It's getting ugly and it's unfortunately only going to get worse... My admiration for Buckley grows with each season...
  16. Funnily enough I went down to see Weid's first training session. As I walked across the parkland to the oval the first thing I saw was that very same kick. I thought...oh no, what have we got here. I think he relaxes mentally at times...that kick is an example. He needs to stay on his game... Time at Casey, I'm not so sure it will help. He's still young and has shown he can do it at the level. Leave him there and try and sort out the ball movement and forward structure. It's appalling. I think plugger would of ironed out his coaches at training if they suggested this was the way to play...
  17. Agree re depth 'Nasher', have always believed depth to be over rated. ...but let me add something. Whilst our important structural players aren't playing well I would also suggest they don't have a solid structure to work too. I would also suggest we don't have enough important structural players. If we had an injury free team our spine would still be missing key forwards and we don't have enough class off half back or around the middle...that's not to mention no soldiers creating serious forward pressure.
  18. This is where Pert will earn his money, there's a review coming. Maybe Gubby connection from the Fitzroy days... I think Mahoney will move on to develop his skills in business management after this season anyway.
  19. We can't afford that any longer...
  20. When PJ came in one of the things he said was that we needed some experience at the club. The FD at the time was very young in football terms. Roos came in with George Stone for starters... Unfortunately the balance has gone back, we lack real experience. I think if Goodwin is to stay on then it's time for Mahoney to move on. We need a Balme/Walsh figure at the club to overview and make sure we're making the right calls. I don't think either of those 2 are going anywhere, so who is around? Gubby? hate the suggestion but he is a good operator. We need to get nasty and he might just be the man for the job...
  21. He has been a pleasant surprise. Watching him in preseason & the first game against Port he didn't look anywhere near it. Has settled and looks composed. With good players around him (May, Lever) he will only get better.
  22. As I posted elsewhere. Hindsight is a wonderful thing for us fans. ...but we do expect foresight from the professionals. Our professionals seem to struggle with that...
  23. Would seriously consider it, I think Cerra has a huge upside & Langdon gives us some real run & carry... I worry about the concussions with Gus.
  24. If Fremantle came with Langdon & Cerra for Brayshaw would you take the deal? As good as Brayshaw is I don't think he has the upside of Oliver & I always fear he's one big hit away from being finished...
  25. In the first Q we used the ball forward quite well & it showed on the scoreboard. Part of that was due to Melksham playing up the ground, he is our best field kick. Also the forwards moved and created targets, this is a bit of a catch 22 though. After that it was everyman for himself... We bombed the ball in & played right into the Tiges hands... Either the coaching is terrible or they can't get their message across which in effect means the coaching is terrible. While we're talking coaching, there's some stuff that used to be taught when I was playing at primary school that we don't do. Maybe it's old fashioned but surely when you take a set shot at goal you have a tall in the square to try and stop the opposition from touching the ball on the line. Happened a couple of times, cost us one maybe two goals. ...and why do we have multiple players flying for the same ball. This is football 101...and we don't get it. 4 players up against 1 = 3 opposition players scouting the pack waiting for an easy goal...
