The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
The going price would be a 2nd round pick... ..which is what they gave up to get a premiership wingman (Brad Hill). 1st round picks are only for A grade game changers and KPP's...

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
I heard someone say this today and it's not necessarily true. The way we set up very definitely crowds our forwards and makes it hard. I think we need to spread more rather than bunch up to make it easy for defenders. Jennings is supposed to be a football genius but I can't see his logic here.

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
I want Sparrow in, and it's not because I think he will turn the team performance around. Wagner has been tried many times and failed. Sparrow is a first year player in development. I would prefer us to play Sparrow as he may (may as we don't know yet) have a lot more upside. ...and given Nev is going to be out for a fair period of the season it gives us a chance to groom someone to play his position. Wagner isn't the answer, Sparrow may be...

PREGAME: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
Agree that we don't have a lot of options at Casey but the one I would have brought in is Sparrow to play in defence. He has got some leg speed and does tackle... Particularly with Hawthorns smaller forward set up and the high chance of rain on Saturday it only makes sense to me. If we're looking to the future, Wagner is not the answer.

Gary Pert
Caroline has got good contacts and she writes a good story, likes to create some drama in the off field goings on at football clubs. It wouldn't suit her narrative if the people behind the scenes were just a bit disappointed... ...but as to the very high up people...if they are majorly cheesed off and if that has rubbed off on the players in any way shape or form then those very high up people need to take a very long hike... It was very high up people, including ex players that very nearly drove us to extinction.

It's not that logical... You can draw our current form line back to the Prelim when Jackson was still CEO. We had a game plan and personal that didn't stand up. That we didn't make changes after that performance is one of the many things that see us where we are now. Pert wasn't in a position to effect that performance and hasn't been around long enough to make his mark. I think rather than logical extrapolation you are clutching at straws.

Agree with most of your post 'It's' but the whole of the FD including the head should be reviewed. I would think a review by someone with experience from outside the club will be called for...

Jon Patton
Since you've avoided the question, let me ask again.... Where have they said they are after Paton? Where they say they believe Paton will make a successful comeback? ...or is it just a media story that you're basing your arguments on?
-
Gary Pert
The biggest issue I have with Pert is not with Pert himself, it's the unfortunate timing of the changeover. I think we needed to have a club review of the Prelim performance that being the new man in the job it wasn't appropriate for him to call.

So' @Matsuo Basho'...have the Hawks declared they are after Paton or is it one of those media stories? ...or do you have some inside intel form the Hawks that he is a target?
-
Josh Jenkins
Jenkins is a small forward in a big mans body. No thanks...

Jack Viney and the medical staff...
His decision making is poor and he often burns teammates where he should be working with them particularly if he's Captain... He tries to take on way to much... The same Selwood who is a 3 time premiership player, premiership captain and walk up start to the hall of fame.

Jack Viney and the medical staff...
Viney has been playing limited game time and his impact has been negative. Love his intensity (on the ground, it's a negative off) and desire but we need more than that from Jack...needs to take time off and watch the career tapes of Joel Selwood to see how it's done. Joel plays team first, Jack thinks he does and that's the difference in attitude at least. Joel is of course the much better footballer. Get the attitude right Jack and your football will improve.

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
You've got to be kidding... Frosty's biggest weaknesses is he's not a natural footballer. Good athlete when he gets to use that strength but the midfield is not the place for it. Smart footballers play him on a break. Cripps & Bont are smart footballers.

Welcome Back to the Bottom of the Ladder
I think we better get Plan A working before we worry about plan B. Our current game plan and/or its implementation is way off the mark.

Lyon: Oliver is Demons best EVER midfielder
I will excuse him on the basis of major ops on both shoulders in the off season. When on song he's a one touch player who uses the ball exceptionally well and never panics.

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
He has played defence...I would be looking at him as a long term replacement for Nev... Strong, has some leg speed and aerial ability.

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
Read my other posts and you will know this is not the case. May and Lever will make a difference, plus getting some K's into some of the others but we're not good enough this year. ...but there is no use putting games into players who are not ready and to my mind not going to be AFL level players... I don't see the upside in having a player on the ground who can't carry his weigh and at least offer a contest. We just don't have the talent at Casey, and the injury list is hurting us. The only one I would have a good look at is Sparrow and I think his best position will be in defence rather than as a mid. Time to try him there and give him some games to develop.
