  1. ...but we're not looking at Bennell for speed, it's his absolute class with and around the ball that we're looking at. Neither Frost nor Murray have that class nor will they ever have it. ...and I don't know that we're even looking at Murray anyway. The only story on that seems to be a thread on this site.
  2. I see' @picket fence' being more of an old school ruck type than a flanker though 'Rusty'...
  3. I've been pushing this line for a while now 'Lord'... I reckon if he is to make it this is his place in the team. I don't think he's a natural mid. I think Lockhart isn't tall enough, particularly if we are playing a zone.
  4. Is there any hope of him playing again 'drysdale' or is he totally shot?
  5. Love this album 'picket', but there are a fair few drug references on it. It would indeed be a strange fantastic drug induced (Too much Chicken S...) dream for Frost to win a Norm, not a chance in real life... I suggest we all bid him a Jamaican Farewell, get over it and get on with season 2020.
  6. ...and of another one they took with Garlett. They don't always pan out. I love the thought of getting a player like the Bennell that took us apart at the 'G' a fair few years back now for next to nothing. ...but the chances are he won't ever get back to that standard with injury, attitude and time out of the game being major concerns.
  7. I don't think so... Like his brother, I see him drifting away from the AFL little by little until he gets delisted. ...but hey, I could be totally wrong. ...and then someone will remember and quote my poorly chosen words back at me.
  8. Injured or not his season 2019 was very disappointing. Tom's football history shows he was a very promising KPD then lost his mojo. He was moved forward and became a very promising KPF then this year again lost his mojo. I hope he can buck the trend in 2020 otherwise his career will be at the crossroads and our season compromised.

If you were going to take a risk you want maximum reward. Bennell is the only one of that group that could give that.

    That's putting it nicely 'Wise'...

...and I guess we must have a bit of cap space after missing out on Elliot.
  12. 'norm', I'm beginning to think you are the shifter Sheahan of Demonland. Never short on praise/hype for the kids coming through.
  13. That's Oliver 'norm'...I reckon he had a down season in 2019 and he still tied for the B&F. He will take it by storm in 2020...
  14. Gould looks a much more complete player than Tapscott though, strong in the air & on the ground, smart ball user...again based on only a few minutes of highlights for me.
  15. What do you think of Gould 'Mach'??? I've only seen highlights but a lot to like in those...

The list of players who don't would be shorter than the list of players who do...
  17. Josh Bruce is in the same boat as Tommy, not a first tall. I would have an in form Tommy ahead of him.
  18. This post makes no sense... I agree we need a first tall. ...but there were none available. They haven't bet the house but they also can't conjure something up if it's not there.
  19. I'm an old fashioned coach 'Lucifer', I will use stats but mainly use my eyes to watch what happens on the ground. Langdon and Tomlinson are hard runners who push back hard to cover. Plus anything that helps bring back Gus into the middle and allows Trac more time on ball is a bonus. I don't need Jay's flakey stats to tell me that and to be honest he didn't need them to back up his premise. Maybe he's been David Kingised...
  20. It only makes sense to bid then 'Pennant', no point helping out GWS if it's going to narrow our prospects unless there are any side deals done...
  21. It's not about replacing them...although it will be a by product. Over the last couple of seasons we have had to use the likes of Brayshaw, Tyson and Jones on the wings and Trac more forward than perhaps we would have liked. I know we've pretty much all had a shots at Goody for not giving Gus more time in the middle where he plays his best footy. Langdon and Tomlinson will allow us to run our best inside mids where they play their best footy. A core midfield of Oliver, Brayshaw, Trac and Viney rotating forward and off the bench is going to be a pretty decent engine room.
  22. The only quality forward available in this trade period was Elliot. He chose not to come. Others like Jenkins, Bruce etc would not have added anything and weren't worth pursuing. They could indeed have been seen as a backwards step. I think the club have done all they could to address deficiencies on our list. Adding run on the wings allows our mids to spend more time forward, it allows Brayshaw to play where he plays his best, it allows Oliver to spend some time forward and develop that side of his game. We go to the draft and hopefully take 2 quality players who can add more to our forward half and or better delivery inside 50... So whilst we didn't add any class KPF's to our list non were available. We go in looking for improvement in Tmac, Weid, Trac, Fritsch forward, game plan, fitness & delivery. I think many we will be pleasantly surprised, some even eating their words.
  23. Wrong Lynch 'bingers'...the Adelaide variety. ...and whilst I understand Gunston's height he doesn't play as a tall pack crasher & take a lot of big pack marks. He's more an accumulator who relies on a great kick. ...Fritsch probably plays taller than both although he is not as tall physically.
  24. He plays tall though & should cover that 3rd forward role like a Lynch or Gunston, not as tall but just a bit better in the air I think. Much better bet the Hannan.
  25. We've found the ideal 3rd tall in Fritsch, just need to keep him there now. It's the first tall we have an issue with and this is where Weid needs to step up. He's at an age where he either shows it or is a bust.
