I think we should get Weideman...bar Cameron, he's probably the best bet of the bunch.
-
Felt the same mate but so far he's stepped up to the level and looks at home. We could have a good one here.
-
I think the kid they will have coming in (Sier) might be a better bet than Beams at the moment, whose form line hasn't been great. Sier will have a lot of clubs chasing him in the off season if he can't nail down a permanent spot. Would suit us with Jones coming near the end.
-
We can't manage him in the firsts... At Casey he can have long periods off the ground, he's more likely to get a soft tissue injury with the intensity at AFL level.
-
Maclure is being hysterical...surprise. The Carlton list is in a good position and with the right coach will turn it around quickly. They don't need a major rebuild, just time, a good coach and a few targeted acquisitions.
-
I would be waiting for Richardson...if the Saints offload him then we need to be in his ear. I hope we are already talking with his management.
-
Hawthorn GWS at MCG 14k... Apart from some very long term Hawthorn supporters, and I reckon I could almost name & know them personally. Their membership numbers flatter them...they don't turn up when things aren't going well, at least we do. ...and we cop the snow BS.
-
It would also reduce the crowd substantially. We have little to no support up there & they have less. Time to end the experiment...we don't make enough cash to throw away games like this.
-
Agree, and then they added back another one... The hands in the back rule was made black & white but Hocking and the AFL decided to bring back all the grey. Now an umpire has to decide whether a player is holding his ground or pushing. One instance on Friday night had the commentary panel split down the middle as to whether it was a mark or should have been a free kick against...

He's a very, very good footballer 'Ethan'...and has been for a long time. ...all this hard nut stuff does him a disservice.

I watched this closely on the replay, his tackle numbers were inflated by gang tackles and another instance where the opposition player was stationary. He struggles to lay a good tackle one on one, and he gets exposed on this consistently. I see what I see. Apart from Hunt who seems to be our only lead up forward at the moment the others don't inspire either but it's hard to understand how Spargo came back into the team after being dropped and on no exposed form at Casey. We are struggling for numbers is probably the answer...but it's not the answer for keeping his place.

If it means eating more pasta then I'm on board 'Diamond-Jim'... Forget the pirates, I'm off to make up a good sauce.

I've posted similar before. Our set up in the forward half for centre bounces is way too congested & doesn't let us take full advantage of 666. We get around 15 to 20 seconds without numbers flooding back into our forward half yet we don't use the space to advantage. The one time we did open it out was in the last minute of the GC game because we needed to score quickly & we did. Now i know my thinking may be a bit simplistic but why don't we use this as our default set up rather than our current inefficient model that sees high inside 50 numbers with poor score conversion????

I'm not sure if my posts are criticism or observation. They are my opinions...you don't like them and I don't really care. Sack the coach, please. No I don't want to sack the coach unless the club deems and he proves that he's no good. I hope and don't think we're at that stage yet... Goodwin is still a young coach, in his 3rd year. I don't know if he can or can't coach but what I do know is that young coaches take time to mature into the role. Part of that maturity process seems to be the ability to listen and take on board alternative views, to not stick with something that is not working. Thompson, Hardwick and Buckley have all been there and there was a point in their tenure where they were forced to change direction or they would have been out of a job. The greatest of the modern coaches Clarkson has changed time and again, continually reinventing himself and his team. As I've said elsewhere the writing was on the wall since the Prelim. Injuries of course haven't helped us but there also seems to be blind faith placed in a game plan that is not working. It didn't work last year against the best so it's no surprise it's not this year with an inferior team to execute it. Goodwin will have a stronger team around him next year and should be more consultative in his coaching. Our game plan will need to evolve. I think so far he's been stubbornly sticking to what he thinks will work... If he's smart he will learn his lessons well, if not he will be just another sacked coach.

He kicked 4 in a JLT game and a lot of people are hanging his potential and ability on that... From someone who was a borderline player he now often gets mentioned in the same breath as some of the walk up starts & as best 22. I agree with you, he hasn't show anywhere near enough. I also have doubts as to whether he will.

It was shown up badly and picked to pieces in the Preliminary final by WC and by Collingwood mid year. So, if that is the game style (and it appears to be what we are using again this year) then I would think it needs major adjustments. It's not going to take us all the way.

I hope we wait at least another week on Lever. Not playing out the game on the weekend, it would be better if he had a bit more managed match time before coming in. Having read the training report it seems he may have to hold off anyway.
-
Another of footballs many great myths. Exhibit A: Frawley He will recruit horses for courses, he's too smart to be locked into a mantra.
-
Maybe overselling the story a bit 'hard'...
-
Going by the SEN interview he didn't seem to think he was slow... Many seem to equate words like inside mid & hard at the ball as meaning too slow.
-
My first choice would be Richardson if the Saints flick him, Scott but think he will get a senior gig or maybe Bolton who will be looking for a job next year...
-
He's a career coach mate, of course he does.
-
That's the template for all coach and politician leaving speeches... He will spend some time for a few months and be back as senior coach somewhere after this season is over for some club if not before.
-
Out: Selection Committee We lose Salem before the game & bring in Spargo...FMD I reckon Lewis should have retired at the end of last season but even he makes more sense as a replacement for Salem.
-
That he's made the phone call to Clarkson...
