  1. Let's just say if he didn't intentionally touch cocaine he probably would have been in the minority.
  2. Looks like we're going around in circles a bit here. Changes have been made and quite significant ones. Do I care about the Crowes? No... Whilst I don't think we were in crisis we had major issues. Do I think our preseason surgeries were an issue? yes Do I think we had other issues besides those? yes and we've started to address them which is good. Do I think there will be further shake ups prior to the start of the season? yes
  3. Very true 'Gonzo'...we have a new CEO who is yet to make his mark on the club. It will be interesting to know how much input he had into the changes made. The structure is there but there have been significant renovations.
  4. No brigade of coaches sacked, that was an overstatement by 'steve' but also your take was an understatement and didn't account for the significance of the changes made. Some pushed and some moving on, who knows where each falls... Viney, MIsson, Rawlings, Jenning, Macca...it's not a small exodus, these were major players.
  5. A little like the politician that steps down for family reasons... Spin it anyway you like 'bin' but there have been significant changes made in the FD as there should have been after a disastrous 2019.
  6. This you don't know... Some of these things take time to fix. There are no magic bullets, it may take us a few draft/trade periods. Maybe the changes made on and off field already have been in answer to these problems.
  7. I didn't want to quote the whole post again 'Goffy' but you make your point well. I like to make opinions on what I see but I'm not stupid enough to deny that stats, particularly well analysed stats are an invaluable aid. I mean at the end of the day the scoreboard is a stat...in most cases it tells us who was the better team on the day. If we can break that down with well considered stats & some smart analysis it should help us in every facet of the game including building the list and yes improving the goal kicking...

I rate him too, he's a slow burn but plenty of talent. Still only 21yo.
  9. Hi Mel, I might have got you in this a little bit deeper than we expected...we could have a discussion on drugs and creativity another time. My thinking is it might have more to do with the temperament of the artist in a lot of cases and may not have helped and could have indeed hindered their creative process. It certainly screwed up a lot of them, Brian Jones, Peter Green, Jimi, Sid Barrett and many others... Good old Satch and Bing were know to have many a recreational smoke together. The culture police would be surprised to know that... Zappa by the way had the Roos policy in his bands, the opposite end of the stick. As for not having any drug users or former drug users playing for the club then I don't think we would be a hope in hell of getting anywhere & would struggle to put a list together if that was the case. Drug use is rife in the whole AFL system, our club is no different. I heard of a prominent recruit who was surprised to find at least 70% of his team-mates into it. So, that horse has long bolted. It's only those with their head in the sand that would see it as a problem to club culture. It's not changing anytime soon, it's why the AFL have a harm minimisation policy. Not for the players, but for their brand.
  10. You mean the 2 players that paid for their own personal training camp o/s during the break? ....and the number 2 pick who was spotted training for a couple of hours early on a Saturday morning looking in peak condition with his own personal trainer before the kids took over the ground for cricket? They're both working hard... For some it's better they stay away from the club, do the work & come back refreshed. They're all going to be in each others pockets soon enough.
  11. Who are you talking about???
  12. I think that comment might just show a little ignorance also 'Mel'... Not all great art has been created in artificial altered states.
  13. Edwards is the only premiership player there in the first list and he's inside and out... Burgoyne, let's not make the argument. He's a gun inside and out as a premiership player. I haven't seen anything of Stephens bar his highlights (I'm not saying he's soft by the way), the club would have a good insight. If he can win hard inside ball to go with his outside ability then good. ...but I would be wary of rating him on SANFL form, it's a very open style of footy they play. Again, I'm sure the club are aware of this...
  14. It's not so much about the state... It's well known that contested ball winners are more likely to make it at AFL level. Despite what many complain about on here on here about drafting contested ball winners, it is the smart option. The highlights show lots of nice stuff but I don't remember seeing him win any contested ball. I think the consensus on here is we go for Young at 3, he can zone off for the cheap kick and also win his own ball on the ground and in the air. I would rather we take that type of player. Outside runners from SA, who was the last really successful one of those...Craig Bradley?
  15. Not just Toumpas 'BAMF'...as 'Skuit' mentions above but there are more.
  16. Once bitten...always wary of outside players from SA.
  17. All clubs whose coaches spend time in the US and other places in the world to make sure they are at the top of their game...
  18. Both are not due to start official training yet...so I wouldn't be concerned at all.
  19. Depends on how you rate the player at 3... One great player v 2 average players. It could be so even that we end up with 2 good players v one good player. Hope we make the right call.
  20. He could well end up better...who knows. I think we will keep 3 now and take Young, it makes sense to me anyway. I'm not sure what could be on offer that would make us split it...
  21. What's the culture issue 'Mike'... If it's the drug thing then I wouldn't be too concerned. The difference with these two and others is they've been caught out...
  22. I don't understand the 5 year deal either, as a stand alone deal it doesn't really make a lot of sense. All I can think is that it's part of a longer term list strategy that will help us keep the team together whilst adding important pieces along the way. Front ended/back ended/whatever...
  23. Young, Salem, May and Hibberd for a start.
  24. I would say anytime Frost had ball in hand it was a gamble. Gamble out, calculated risk in...
  25. I know this is a risk, but if he can get back to anywhere near what he was then he's exactly what we have been missing. ...please let this be so.
