unlike some others I dont think its the end of the world if he leaves. it would be better if he stays but I dont see it as trolling to say i think he will leave. Its the reality of modern AFL football.

If i was attaching it to the round 1 win, i wouldve have posted in the Post match discussion thread. Isnt this the Jesse Hogan thread?

to clarify my opinion. I agree he doesnt have to sign on 2 years out however the argument he should wait till the CBA is released doesnt hold water. Other players have worked around that by agreeing to percentage of cap based on current negotiations. He entered negotiations then stopped. I would do the same and i dont blame him but on a spectrum of staying to leaving that move didnt put him closer to staying in my opinion. With his interests outside footy, Perth is a very attractive propostiion. ( theres no way to know if thats a issue or not but just putting myself in his shoes. ) Melbournes a great place if you love coffee and restuarants. If you are a keen surfer youd be keen on perth. Absolutely he was incredibly uncomfortable in that interview the other week when the contract questioning came up. you cant deny how quiet his voice went when he spoke about it and then suddenly was at ease when the line of questioning changed. (again it could just mean he's uncomfortable discussing that topic). Most of all, I cant see Melbourne improving enough in a short time to have him want to be a part of it. He is a competitive beast but i reckon WC or freo could mount a strong case to him that he could have success over there and still get to be with his mates and family and he could easily be convinced that alongside kennedy with priddis hitting him on the t1ts would be a nice way to earn a dollar. I have no idea if any of this is correct which is why it is only an opinion but i havent seen anything from him more concrete that makes me think he will stay. If i do then my opinion will change. Its all . Im sorry if it sounds negative. its purely my summation on events so far. lets hope the season goes well and he will feel he'll miss out on something special if he leaves. Lets not forget how inept as a club MFC wouldve been seen in football players eyes. Yes its turned around but only recently.

So your opinion is hes staying. my opinion is he is going. neither of us know yet you claim 100% hes staying. how about not accusing someone of trolling just because their opinion doesnt fit your cosy narrative. we will find out soon. In the age of player movement, thinking a player is leaving is not trolling. its reality and not necessarily the end of the world if that player goes. im not too bothered either way as any bidding war is going to be costly and as other teams have proven , an even spread of talent can win premierships without a 7 figure gun it goes without saying my preference would be for hogan to stay. im not going to be too upset if he goes. we need to get used to that reality , especially if the AFLPA get the 6 yr free agency over the line. i will enjoy watching him play in the side until he goes. Never been the type to wear rose coloured glasses. I call it as i see it.

I agree al that was great. I just dont think Hogan is staying. Not going to change my opinion just because it doesnt fit the narrative of the great round 1 win. Im of the opinion hes going but im not going to worry about it. the club will be well compensated and will have a strong list regardless
-
thats what im doing. ill enjoy every game he plays in the red and blue. we will be well compensated and although nothing replaces a gun key forward the list will still be in great shape.
-
talk about confirmation bias. of course he was pumped. AFL players are competitors. they want to win on any given day.
-
An opinion that doesnt fit what we all hope for is not trolling. It just shows how much posters dont want to hear the potentially ugly reality that it is called trolling. i hope he stays but my opinion is he wont.
-
I also strongly believe he is gone. Anyone who couldnt pick up the awkward, quiet tone in his voice during that line of questioning the other week is just in denial. Nevertheless, i will enjoy the games he has left for us. We will be well compensated and hopefully the Weed comes on as expected.

absolutely not

In a nutshell, our big man stocks are in need of a top up. No real backup for gawn, Pedersen is 29, Dawes is Dawes, OMac is a long way off and i think Frost is NQR. Hurley, anyone?

go for a key backman. id be throwing a big offer at michael hurley

Jesse Hogan Press Conference
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Domgus Petrogan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Anyone notice how quiet Hogans voice went with the contract questions? Once he finished with that and started chatting footy his voice got stronger again. I dont know what hes thinking but he is absolutely uncomfortable with that subject. it was very obvious. Maybe he just doesn't like discussing contracts -

Jesse Hogan and his kicking for goal (merged thread)
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Ricky P's topic in Melbourne Demons
a bit of honest dialogue please folks. His run up on sunday was different to last year and was extremely poor. He will not have an acceptable kicking efficiency if it remains that way. it needs to be rectified and im sure the club will be looking in to it. This site borders on a cult sometimes with the blind allegiance to narratives purely becuase its a melbourne football club player mentioned -
I think we saw him in the red and blue jumper for the last time on sunday

Geez i didnt take you for being so young DD. in 94 Schwarz was absolutely in the conversation with Carey. Carey was considered slightly better mainly because he had already had a couple of years of great footy. Schwarz had looked ok in 93 but really 94 was when he tore the comp a new one. always a hard discussion being biased toward the ox but i believe schwarz had a higher ceiling than carey for the exact reasons your essendon mate said. he was more athletic than carey and had more of a burst of speed. a bit more 'X factor' where Carey was more pure strength. my personal opinion is that if he hadnt been injured then the conversation wouldve ended up like a 'dunstall V Lockett' discussion with opinions based on individuals prefferred style of play. Both wouldve been superstars and the ox's highlights package wouldve been a bit flashier though equivalent in his ability to take games by the scruff . The ox was a completely different player when he returned in 98. those early games that season he looked like a lumbering giant and relied on his strength. His speed and aerial ability was gone but could still take a great contested mark and was part of our best forward line ive seen. Where are you from originally by the way, DD?
