Yeah a game with plugger one end and hogan the other would be a cracker that's for sure -

Dunstall used to play one out, out of the goal square with space to lead into in front of him. I'd love to see hogan in that setup. We never will but surely you agree that that would be awesome to watch We are talking a 100 goals plus in that case -

Ok. Got ya . To reiterate , we will see his best in the current style of AFL football. And I. Can't wait! But I reckon he would have been even better the way the game used to be played. My point is I reckon our side now would Be fantastic to watch play in that era. Vandenberg shirt fronts! -

Carey used to have the f50 to himself. We won't ever see that again of course but imagine the damage hogan could cause with THAT setup!! -

I'm not saying hogan isn't a gun. We know that. I'm saying that if hogan played in a game style of 15 years ago, we would see EVEN more. You misunderstood or were being disingenuous.Or if you are a younger person, in your defense, may not remember how much more space key forwards used to have. -
Imagine the side we have now playing footy as it was played 15 years ago. Imagine Hogan and Garlett having the F50 to themselves or Hoges roaming around CHF and Petraccca pinch hitting one out in the goal square , ala Darren Jarmen. Harmes and Kent on the flanks, Brayshaw and Stretch or Watts on the wide open wings with space to create and hit up targets. Vince, Salem , Jones kicking long to an uncongested forward line . Vandenberg, Oliver, Jetta applying those solid bumps we no longer see in the game. Dunn, TMac , Jetta working it cleanly out of the back line to an uncongested midfield. This list is built perfectly for that footy that those of us old enough to remember know was better suited to show individual talent than what we have today. We will never see Hogans best because he will spend his whole career trying to pick through 30 blokes inside 50.

I tend to overlook Stretch when discussing the side which just shows the talent being accumulated. Def under the radar with outsiders and I agree that he could really surprise the comp. I'm excited about having this core of MFC supporters on the list. Stretch, HARMES and VINEY have that added extra passion on top of personal success to see the club succeed. I can see that passion being used as a rallying point for the other young blokes to get around. There's no way that isn't infectious amongst the group, at least in that younger age bracket. It will be so much sweeter on grand final day seeing Melbourne SUPPORTERS holding that cup up. especially for someone like Harmes, who is really just one of us, only more talented. Stretch and Viney know no different but HARMES must really be pinching himself. Probably the player I want to see succeed more than any other, because of this Forgot to add Grimes in to that group, but just can't see him being there. Top bloke and a mad Dees supporter as a youngster

There's a drug out there worse than Meth - it's called 'Watts'.Fortunately it's been been restricted to a very small sector of the community however it's more potent and more addictive than anything seen. Occasional extreme but short lived highs mask the severe comedowns following it , however addicts remain convinced those highs will become more frequent as use continues.

Who's going through my photo album again?!! -
There was some promising talent in the second round and giving up a second rounder for melksham was a mistake in my opinion.
-
Kennedy , Bugg and Melksham are bog ordinary players. Just because we now have them it doesn't suddenly make them good players. They are here to provide depth. Not in best 22 consideration. We were shite last year. Adding 3 duds and 2 18 year olds doesn't change that. Lets keep our hats on

I do seem to be the only one with this opinion but i reckon we've blown it this year. spending next years pick to get in on this years pool of talent will bite us i have a feeling. Of course i dont know but its the feeling i get. Oliver is over rated and Weideman is injury prone and again, over rated. It seems once a name is thrown out there , the hype snowballs and suddenly he is a future gun but nobody really knows how it got to that point. I know smokies come from nowhere but when choosing pick 3 , there really shouldn't be as many question marks on players skills, endurance, nous etc as there were this year. I really hope I'm wrong but at this point i feel the trade and draft period has been a bust this year. we picked up some scraps in the trade period and marketed the result as win by selling next years pick. Not convinced.

Emma Quayle's Melbourne Draft Guide
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm really uneasy about this draft. all of them seem pretty underwhelming in my opinion . i hope we haven't mortgaged the farm for 2 shots at a pool of weak talent. It feels like some on here are trying to talk themselves in to wanting some of these guys. I hope im wrong -
2020? What happened to 2014???

Im glad to hear your safe mate. keep alert but keep enjoying yourself! we've just had a guy arrested here with a bag of hand grenades. the airport has gone nuts. Security forces locking the place down. its starting to settle down a bit but I'm going to the pub.

The jailing of journalist Peter Greste
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Grapeviney's topic in General Discussion
They weren't just doing their jobs, AlJazeera is a mouth piece for the Muslim Brotherhood, the biggest blight on this planet. If you side with a terrorist organization as Peter Greste did, then accept the consequences. Do not blame the new secular Egyptian government from attempting to clean house. -
Cracking avatar name mate! The natural footballer is rare but has that inate ability to read the play better than others and can make instinctive decisions.

Training - Monday 9th November, 2015
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Drafting must be 'best available' otherwise we end up with a lucas cook situation. if we end up with more good midfielders than we need then they can be packaged off in a deal during a future trade period to get a player on a 'needs basis'. we have to look at players as currency. -
2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Fitz Fitzpatrick replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know a few keep mentioning the thrashing at kardinia park in 2011 but i am actually really thankful that happened. It started the ball rolling for the necessary shakeup the club needed. Unfortunately it had to take a few years to play out with further backward steps taken but it was the beginning of the spotlight being planted on the administration. The other event I'm really grateful for happening was the tanking affair. I'm sure we will look back n years to come and see that all that drama was the beginning of the end for the unprofessional basket case that was the MFC. I remember neeld commenting on how shite the list management meetings with barry prendegast were. he 'resigned' a few months later. neeld turned out to be a bad choice but the upheaval was a necessary step in the cleansing process the club needed. -
