What they're saying down at Punt Road
Hey Macca . . . totally agree on T-Mac. Not convinced at all. Also need major improvement from Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney et al . . . then a top four side. ?

What they're saying down at Punt Road
When I was a kid . . . back in the 1970's . . . The Deez supporters would gather in the centre of the MCG after we'd beaten the Tiges and sing the following song: Hooray for Richmond, hooray at last, Hooray for Richmond, for they're a horses a&#e. Don't be mistaken, don't be mislead, They're not the horse's a&#e, they're the horse's head!

What they're saying down at Punt Road
Melbourne is not very good this year. Dees by plenty. Our side will be jet lagged. Having Rance right now would be massive. He was a jugger naught when we were a middle of the ladder team. Melbourne's Grand final this week. I'd say Dees will bring in either Weideman or that spud from Essendon this week to try take advantage. It'd be nice if they played Preuss again. Demons to Bomb out of the finals race. They'll probably thrash our midfield. Our midfield basically has lost every battle so far this season and Melbourne's one is able to get the ball. Their issue is what they do post-clearance and heading into the forward 50, so we'll just rely on their tendency to misfire in the forward line or the midfield for the win. Reckon we match up well against the Demons. They're not overly quick like the Saints, who beat us for pace last week. Fritsch is under rated and probably their most dangerous forward. Anyone else forget the dees existed? last i heard about them was way back in the nab cup when everyone was hyping that fat bloke for playing his first good game in years. Reckon this could get ugly. Dees by 47. Tomlinson and Langdon know how to find space and the footy. Let's hope Langdon gets 30 possessions, his Disposal is Sh!te. Melbourne games in the past have been pivotal at times. The McMahon Dustin Martin Cup, The Tommy Hafey debacle. Anzac Eve 2017 and I reckon from memory we lost a last round against them to finish ninth. Sunday's got that same feel about it. I hate losing to those entitled [censored]. Always say Brayshaw is a bellwether player for Dees. When he plays well they are up and about, like in 2018, he was third in Brownlow. Melb. last year resorted to a lot of push and shove. This year since the restart they've had two close games for a win and a loss. They'll be thinking they are in form and we are off the boil.

TEAMS: Rd 05 vs Richmond
With the fourth best defence in the comp in 2020, I respectfully suggest that Jake Lever isn't the problem at Melbourne. And this contribution to the backline's performance after only 11 games back from a knee reconstruction. And it's not as though Melbourne has had a high percentage success rate with first round picks over the years. With our record in this area I was happy to trade two first round picks for a 6"5, 22 year old player yet to reach his prime. He showed in his time at Adelaide to be one of the premier backmen in the comp. According to the All Australian selectors, he was in the best 40 players going around in 2017 and in the best 22 players under 22 years old in both 2016 and 2017. I'm pretty happy with our deal on Lever quite frankly. Yes, we paid with two first round picks, but right now I'm not slashing my wrists over it. In fact, I was delighted with it in 2017 and I'm just as happy now. And I'm just curious, how many notable and credible ex-players or commentators have been highly critical of Lever's footy ability or the deal Melbourne did to get him to the Club?

What they're saying down at Kardinia Park
What they are saying post game . . . No one stands the mark and gives Blicavs an extra couple of metres before he needs to kick. Not sure Goodwin would be happy with that. Crikey Melb must be absolute complete garbage. Because we are. Cracks. Papered. Over. Goes to show how bad Melbourne really are. Massive issues that simply aren’t being addressed. Players being carried by the old brigade and a game plan that is truly awful. Talent is there but we aren’t playing to it. Chris Scott remains the major issue with this club. Bayley Fritsch has an enormously punchable head. Oliver tied with Sicily for biggest [censored] in the AFL. Strange season. The best teams appear to be port, lions and suns. Weird. Cats and Dees teams look super ordinary. Pathetic Geelong. where do you start. jeez, we won........ i don’t care how...... Demons played attacking footy and lost...... i would rather play chip chip win than run and carry loss. Do we not remember the "beautiful losers" of the 80's-90's? Gawn had 2 goals kicked on him Dive Danger, dive. Chris Scott time to hand over the coaching roll to Scarlett

Proud to Belong, Proud to Give
This is going to be a highly criticised view point, but somebody needs to call out the utter and rank ‘entitlement’ that underpins this request from the Club. It goes without saying on this forum that the MFC has, by-and-large, been appalling run for decades. Multiple cheating episodes and chronically bad management decisions, the latest of which was to sign-up an unproven coach for four years on an estimated 600K per year, have been the hallmarks of a dysfunctional organisation. The club continue to approach the supporters when its dreadful decisions, or lack of good decisions, bites it on the bum. This is yet another example of this. But this is what’s really *&%$ing with my head today. The average AFL player earns $350,000 per annum. And they squealed when the AFL asked them to take a 50 percent pay cut for a few months during lock-down. The average salary for a nurse is $65,000 while a teacher might earn $70,000. A junior doctor working in the emergency department of a major hospital receives just over $100,000 per year. Nurses are putting their lives on the line during the pandemic for what many would consider a wage that is close to subsistence living, particularly if one has a mortgage in Melbourne or Sydney and a couple of children. Then there are the millions of Australians who have either lost their job, or had their hours significantly reduced, and as a result, struggling to make ends meet. Granted, the Jobkeeper payment is of assistance, however many of these people are in industries that won’t ‘spring-back’ anytime soon and have no way of knowing what their earning capability will be after the 27 September 2020 when the program is due to be suspended. So forgive me if I have a sense that the Club’s request for a further financial contribution on this occasion has a strong air of insularity, entitlement and quite frankly, disrespectfulness and unreality about it. Rather than lobbying its chronically abused supporters again, how about lobbying the AFL, which is complicit in this cluster-&#$*, and seek to lead the whole footy industry in a different direction based on ethical behaviour and the care for our fellows in the community who really deserve assistance.

TEAMS: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Agree PF. I don't think I've ever commented on selection previously. However the farcical nature of this team selection is beyond comprehension. Hannan, unfortunately, is a dud. Hibberd a headless chook. We all love Nev, and although it's sad to see him go, it's about the only selection decision that might be described as 'understandable'. How is TMac getting a friggin game? The turning circle of the Queen Mary and the on field footy smarts of Michael Gaffer. And we prefer him now to Jackson. And as for the dropping of Harley (pretty close to the only non-butcher at the club) . . . speechless.

What they're saying down at Kardinia Park
Dees mids run fwd of the ball and are poor defensive runners too. Could be a shoot out. Melbourne likely to be underdone. 1 match in, what, 12 weeks. If I played that fantasy footy thing Gawn would be my captain this week. Demons should win this and well. What have Melb ever done - well they won a premiership in 1964 - then won their opening 8 games in 65 ( and then spectacularly crashed ) and thats about it - havent done anything since of note Fort v Gawn. This won’t end well if the Dees mids turn up focused. Gawn will have 50 hit-outs, Fort may compete around the ground but he's a mile behind in ruck craft. We have no match for Gawn-->their MF will run hot. Is Melbourne even good? We'll probably get a typical game where Melbourne don't turn up. We win easy, Dangerfield, Selwood and Ablett will be all smiles, Rohan will get a hand-pass over the top in the last quarter and fist pump like he's won the flag (because he cares so much), and it'll be forgotten again. Surely Melbourne and Carlton aren’t going to be the ones to dictate our season, things can slip away too quickly this year. I’m confident we'll hammer Melbourne. Melbourne still have to prove to themselves as much as the football public how capable they are. On raw talent they're up there with anyone, but until they start doing it consistently, the question mark will (and should) remain. Demons are a bull at a gate type of team with players like Oliver, Viney & Brayshaw in the middle although the latter was moved out of the middle at times last year. They’ve brought in width with Langdon & Tomlinson, yet still butcher the ball going forward and run forward of the ball and get exposed the other way. If they put it together they can blow us away, yet they’re very inconsistent and poorly coached. They’re definitely a mood team. Constable had a day out against Melbourne last year. Wouldn't mind seeing that again. Don’t be surprised. Kolo down back, Blicavs into ruck, Sav up forward. Tigers dump 4 premiership players after a loss. What does Scott do? Gives Harry a rest and brings in even more defenders. Bloke is just too [censored]-weak to make a statement. This club under Chris Scott is a joke. I think it will Sav to ruck, Blicavs to full forward so we can take advantage of his kicking and marking prowess. And Melbourne will be too surprised to counter.
