  1. That is no longer correct WYL, as I posted on another thread there is very little in the bottom 6/7 sides, trade and drafting period coming up can change things quickly for teams in that group and thankfully we aren't looking down teh barrel of losing club greats to retirement unlike other clubs in that group. Don't throw back the previous years drafting prior to Roos as a reason why teh other will jump ahead of us again
  2. Great effort Jess and agree with one of the previous posters a bit of the old East German breeding method wouldn't go amiss, another Viney under the FS coming from good stock
  3. Old Dee you need to re-read my post that Jackaub was responding to, I was talking about our last 5 games against the Lions, Hawks, GWS, Meth Coast and North. That is what I was referring to as on our day we can beat 4 of those sides
  4. Well Jackaub it's all about opinions, on our day we can beat all but the Hawks. The next 5 weeks will tell us
  5. FFS read all his posts on this subject he isn't planning on finishing second last. We are being asked about how it will make us feel if we win the spoon. If you don't care and think it doesn't make a difference then IMO the last 7 years have just mentally screwed you. We are currently sitting 17th and were sitting 16th when this question was asked. We have 5 games left this season and if we play to our potential there are 4 games we can win. Lions - Yes Etihad and they are playing well but right attitude and effort we can win Hawks - even the most optimistic supporter wouldn't back us in this game, they are gearing up for the finals and getting back to their best, effort over 4 quarters is the most important thing in this game GWS - back at our home ground and if we bring the right attitude and effort and game again we should win Meth Coast - at Patersons and danger game Coxy's home farewell, but so was Hafey's and Cassisi's. They are ripe for the picking and front running flat track bullies of the highest order, don't allow them a start and turn it into a fight and it is very much a winnable game North - again it is Etihad but last game of the season and we all know there are always shock results in the final round and which North turns up. By god do we owe North for the last 7 years and despite our improvement it was one of our worst performances of the season. They will have their eyes on the final the following weak and I hope our boys are keen to atone from our loss to them earlier in the year So I am clarifying why I will be pi55ed if we win the spoon, I see 4 winnable games which if results go our way will see us finishing as high as 12th, I don't care that it rules out us getting Petracca. The last 10 years has seen enough Selwood, Dangerfield, Wines, Heppells, Salems etc coming at around that mark. We are instilling a new culture and we have an opportunity to finish the season on a high like the Doggies did last season and enter the trade period and off season with optimism and positive media, which will assist us greatly both on and off the field. So again I will be absolutely livid if we win the spoon from here, I want to finish with as many wins and high as we possibly can Go Dees
  6. Confirms what a lot of us have thought marked improvement this season despite currently only having 2 more wins. Last year there was only really the Richmond game I remember us being close to striking distance in the last quarter of the 22 we lost. Good post
  7. Yes Old I'm prepared but will be absolutely [censored], we have improved greatly and to finish last would be a kick in the teeth for the players. Coulda woulda shoulda great saying but there were games we certainly should have taken another 4 points in on several occasions. Interesting point about us being in the bottom 3/4 lists in the competition. For me there is the top 8 sides, Adelaide and a developing Suns. Of the next bunch the Doggies are certainly coming but after that there is very little difference in the lists. In the next lot Meth Coast, Richmond, Carlton, GWS, Brisbane, Saints and ourselves have strengths and weaknesses but overall there is not a great deal of difference. Some teams will improve quicker than others and I see no reason with the improvements under the new FD why we can't continue on the upward trend (once we don't stay asleep at the wheel) I hear all the talk about Petracca being the player we have to get, another messiah. Sorry but to me finishing last is not acceptable and will harm us in membership, player attraction and current player mindset. So I'll still be livid
  8. Certainly would be an asset, worth picking up but not for to much money at the back end of any two/three year deal or in the event of chip leaving diluting any compensation pick. If the deal can be done to avoid this, we will have plenty of room in the cap next year so a front ended contract may get a deal done. It's a YES from me however once again in the footy department I trust so I'm sure they know exactly what they need and who they want/will target
  9. Rohan showed a lot tonight and there is more to him than pace, certainly worth keeping an eye
  10. Good post and sums it up really
  11. Really hate this attitude The difference is pride The difference is the new culture we are trying to instil into our players to not accept defeat and trying to win every game we play leaving nothing out there May not matter to you but it matters a lot to me to not finish bottom In short I'll be well pi55ed if we finish last and don't win at least 2 more games
  12. Agree totally at this stage but all 3 are very good footballers
  13. There's a fair few kg's for him to shed IMO BB
  14. When they get a week off in Professional Football(Soccer) it is because they are playing internationals. Last season Premier League Clubs played on Boxing Day(Thurs), Sunday, New Years Day(Wed). Not to mention Champions/Europa League, cup competitions etc. Whilst I understand footy is a brutal sport, IMO squads would be better being extended or at very least Rookies should always be eligible and clubs just need to map out plans for the season in squad management. Their sports science departments are paid enough they would figure it out soon enough
  15. There should be no byes and clubs just need to learn to manage players through the season, it's part of the evolution of the game
  16. You are correct BBO - Toronto Maple Leafs from the NHL, White Jerseys with a Large Blue Maple Leaf on the front
  17. I could have saved them some money I would have stayed in France for the year for $200k
  18. We have no hope of getting a pick, we have improved even if we finish last, which I don't think we will. Losing margins are way down, we have won more games and very easy to argue we could very easily have won between 3-6 more games. The priority pick is just about dead, you would want to be a truly awful side to ever get one again
  19. No I wasn't trying to be right, I rate both Trengove and Toumpas, just need to get the bodies right
  20. I don't really want to embarrass you but re-read my post and look at what you have replied with. Thanks for highlighting what I have said. I'm sure all the non-AFL fans are a lot wiser now
  21. I didn't miss anything, you started this thread, I know who we are as do the footy world you seem to be the one beating on about how important it is to have the Demons in our logo Does this ring any bells In my opinion it has too many ideas all thrown together. It is directionless because it has so many concepts that none of them end up being a focus. We're the Melbourne Demons, yet there's no use of the word "Demons" anywhere on it. Do we need a Southern Cross to signify we're Australian? Do we need a football to show we play football? What does the trident mean without anything to say we're the Demons? Are we gardeners? Poseidon? Neptune? To me, there's just too much going on and it seems confused. IMO we should be putting ourselves forward as the Melbourne Demons. Simple as that.
  22. Not wanting to have a go at you DF but before the naysayers on here respond to your post expect these two names to be thrown back at you Same was said of Toumpas & Trengove
  23. Don't see Bombers written on the Essendon Emblem, don't see Port Adelaide written on the Port Emblem, Don't see the words Saints or St Kilda on their emblem, Don't see the word Hawthorn on the premiers emblem. So what are you getting at Stuie, everyone involved in footy knows we are the Melbourne Football Club and are known as the Demons, Dees, Redlegs etc. If we are appealing to overseas supporters why would they not follow the Melbourne Football Club who play at the home of football or would they just like an emblem and start following Power FC, Hawks FC, St K FC or the Essendon Aeroplanes. FFS we have far more important issues. The current emblem is very professional some may like a bit of tweaking with it but certainly not a cartoon character.
  24. Good news for us if tonights stories have some truth, 4 clubs in the hunt could mean a bidding war, would like a committed to the cause Frawley to stay but if he leaves so be it, others have left and we have moved on
  25. Yes no phone lines if only they had heard of Alexander Graham Bell
