  1. I reckon we'll scrape in next year. Lock it in.
  2. It just wouldn't be a normal day on 'Land without you, old dee.
  3. It's a hard call to make on Bartram considering Grimes won the club leadership award when he was out for the season with his foot. So in saying that we need to look past just purley on-field leadership displays. For this reason, I'd consider the group as it stands is still moulding itself into a high performing leadership group and with the additions of Dawes, Burns, and Rodan, the club should find it an easier propostion to fast-track the current LG development. Mitch Clark had more time to impact the group considering the LG was not chosen until early Feb this year (IIRC) so for Byrnes or Dawes to be included with the first 5 to 6 weeks of training might be a little trigger happy.
  4. By the end of his third season he will be averaging 8 contested marks, 5 goals per game, splitting packs and maiming opposition (and maybe a bit of blue-on-blue). On top of this, he will be playing for a team that has got huge momentum and threatening for a flag so I have no doubt that this first 3 year contract will be the first of many. Oh and BTW, I am placing no expectations on this kid at all.
  5. Okay. Buddy runs through the guts, playing the midfielder role pretty well. I am certain that any of our players you mentioned above are not able to do that, at this current point in time.
  6. I was talking about Buddy, in reply to your comment about Buddy. But you knew that.
  7. You're pigeon-holing him as a forward with those comments. He's much more versatile than that.
  8. Imagine that. From 4 wins to a premiership in a season. Might almost get accused of tanking.
  9. Nothing new here that many posters would not already know however, this is a fairly good article from Pete Ryan on the subject. The loss of Gysberts and Morton in regards to basically receiving Pederson and Rodan is explained below. His comments: "Having said that, all list managers must remain flexible because value can depend on a club's specific need at any particular time. This is essential because, as former coach of the San Francisco 49ers Bill Walsh - who took drafting to another level of sophistication - used to argue, teams should not worry too much about the value given away if they need a player to fill a role. He used to say it never mattered where they were picked, it only mattered how they played." Read more... http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/150771/default.aspx
  10. There was a headline about the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks womans basketball team in the States once which read: 'Lady Jacks off to hot start at conference'
  11. I'm going to go right out on a limb here and suggest something like 'Cammo'... Why do people only consider altering surnames?
  12. Bailey denied anything of the sort last time he was questioned. Why would he change his mind now? Given that no testimony will be under oath he will play a straight bat.
  13. Mate, don't just come in here a dribble a couple of one-liners when it's glaringly obvious that you haven't taken the time and effort to gain a minimal grasp of the situation. Do yourself a favour by reading and appreciating some of the quality postings on this and other threads before making silly comments.
  14. "One armed man applauds the kindness of strangers"
  15. I bet they play him down back with Brown.....
  16. That's cheating. He only has to get on the park once.
  17. No of course the media won't make that decision. The AFL will based on their investigations of which the media have been leaked some of. My point was that rather than outright attacking CS or CC the media will throw muck at and deride the club until they get what they're after.
  18. If the AFL punish the MFC based purely on evidence that a few could not keep their mouths shut, or at worst drag up documentation stating our intent of "not wanting to win" but then don't carry out due diligence and investigate every other club where rumours have emanated from, then this will be the greatest injustice of them all. The possibility that this may be required would be of great concern to the AFL. The huge amount of time and resources that must be going into this investigation will be multiplied by at least six times. For this reason, I don't believe there will be club imposed sanctions. Rather the exit of a few people at the top of the MFC which is at the crux of the medias agenda.
  19. For those movie buffs out there... What Richard Gere says to Lisa Eilbacher in "An Officer and a Gentleman"
  20. What's wrong with you? Boring meetings = Demonland
  21. Many of the posters who were crying out for a swift and telling response from McLardy when all this started to gather momentum should now feel vindicated - even though it is most likely entirely different to your original expectations. Don's response shows professionalism and sound knowledge of due process which provides me with a sense confidence. Let's just let them do their best. That will be all I ask of them.
  22. D.E.P.T.H How good will it be to have the depth of a team like Hawthorn in a few years. Point well made Satyrcon.
  23. I can't believe for one nanosecond that CC would've said something so daft. Total bullsh!t imo.
