  1. Pretty sure Boomer uses this a fair bit also
  2. Yep ... think that'll do It. P.S. He even showed Jonesy & Jacky boy "how to" so we shld hav at least 3 players capable of this
  3. I take it you guys have never heard of the term "getting ahead of yourself" ??
  4. Are you suggesting we die laughing R&B?
  5. One week at a time fellas
  6. Clint would normally have picked up on this Dave If not for his cap
  7. Just wanted to add what a fantastic banner the cheer squad put up yesterday for the boys. That's one of the best i've seen i think. Congrats to the Army. Inspiring stuff Gary & Co! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CgOKWp8UkAEnJKz.jpg
  8. I don't think he was ever "not on track" PJ. Was just the frustration of wanting to be at a certain level all of the time. And then not letting his opponents see that frustration too much a la the match against the Bombers. That match was really the only "off" game so far and he had a few partners that day. The boys are on track and their improvement is showing on the scoreboard. The fact that we are currently ranked 6th in team goal averages is in no small part to his efforts and the ethos, belief, hard work ethic and leadership traits that Roos is instilling into this team. One week at a time though Demons!
  9. The reach of your gaze is beyond my comprehension Iva. Mine goes only as far as this week for a possible 2 in a row. I admire your willingness to dream a little.
  10. Referring to games during the season Iva (not all of them lol)... but yes that was a great effort on the day. I was at that game. Most players had a day out. Was a great finals series for us apart from the finish.
  11. Yeh he was needing to be moe than a goal square sitter or moving around the 40 meter area. Still has a way to go in terms of knowing when to place himself higher up the ground when opponents are coming in under pressure from HB thru mid or wide (when he's sitting back there and not playing high). Doesn't read this part too well yet. WIll improve with experience and coaching here so just a matter of time and more games. Recall Brad Green doing the same in his first season or 2. Looks very comfortable and solid decision maker when up the ground so why not go there and take his opponent out of his comfort zone. Big body to have roaming around other mids also. Footsteps.
  12. Hate this saying but we are four rounds in...and yep we have a decent sample size! Ok PJ wipe that smile off yer face man i get it! Anyways after the completion of Rnd 4 here's my top 10 based on a weighted average of select publicly available stats. The number in brackets is the weighted score of those averages. Only players who have an average (ie., 2 or more games played so far) are included in the rankings. 1. Vince (4.33) 2. Viney (4.26) 3. The Jones Boy (4.13) 4. Tyson (4.02) 5. Hogan (3.39) 6. Oliver (3.34) 7. M Jones (3.31) 8. Dunn (3.26) 9. Kennedy (3.20) 10. Bugg (3.04) Some other noteworthy points. In the match against Norf they averaged (per player) 88 more games and 4 years seniority on us. Not a bad effort as most times a team would get smashed in that scenario. In yesterday's match against the Pies they had approx 30 more games per player on us and 1 year. In all matches so far our opponents have had a higher games/years average per player! Going ok. Now for 2 in a row! Fingers/toes/trident crossed
  13. He could only play as well as the team around him and his opponents allowed Petrac. Context. I enjoyed his time with us as he was one of the very few I could look to to give a bit of joy with his amazing aerial work. His Intercept marking down back was ok at times also. Coaches love that side. He was solid In an average all round sense I realise but the whole team was bog ordinary with half a dozen exceptions (or so), sometimes worse than ordinary. Some were lucky to be playing AFL. Finished 9th in the Bluey last year ahead of many including Jetta, Watts, Lumumba, Vanders, Tyson, Gawn et al. Up to Rnd 18 my stat ranking system had him ranked 12th out of all players who had played 2 or more matches for the club to that point. That's out of 36 players (2 or more games) we had played to Rnd 18. I hear what you're saying, i just beg to differ over the "terrible" part.
  14. Yep. Creates time space and uses It as well or better than our other mids after only 4 games. Wld only omit under a "managed" scenario to allow his bod to recoup then straight back In. Didnt get alot of It today but It's what he does with It. Quality over quantity
  15. Yep i reckon he was a tad ahead of the Jones boy today. 2 goal assists also. Butchers the ball a fair bit dee so that could be what puts some off at present. 65% DE same as Jones. Ranked No.3 behind Viney and Tyson in my stat rankings. Solid effort and probably his best so far with us. Much room for improvement with speed of decision making and disposal efficiency though. I recall he played some solid stuff against us in his early years with GWS but could be wrong. Maybe why Roos (and/or the recruiters) decided to go after him.
  16. Personally i thought he gave us many years of solid efforts (and some not so solid) but in some ways he was about the only highlight real for us during some very grim times, including live and tv coverage highlights. Without Howe we probably would have seen very little else of our matches or received any coverage (other than the grim bits...and there were so many) after the game was shown (fox or free). He probably switched off a little in the last season or so which made him look pretty bland and annoyed some of us at times but he wasn't the worst on our list during this period by a fair way. Good luck to Jumping Jeremy. Hope he does well at his new home and finds his niche. Preferably not against us though
  17. 6. Watts - First goal set the scene as did his first half. Just needs to put 2 of those together to finish! Solid 2nd also though 5. Viney - The Rampaging Bull. 10 Clearances. Not sure how many of those were effective. Needs to be more aware though when he gets a free or a mark as to whether/when to play on. . Cost us at least 2 sure fire forward entries today by playing on unnecessarily which resulted in turnovers and Pie goals to give them back some momentum. Those two missed entries could have sealed the game much earlier IMO. 4. Tyson - Solid. Still a little slow to decide what he's going to do. A split second in speeding this up and making better choices and he becomes a very damaging mid. 3. Pedersen - Solid and reliable. Put body on the line in the clinches also and ran hard all day. 2 critical goals. 2. Kent - Spread well, ran hard and provided solid options on the outside. Much needed on the vast expanses of the G for some team balance. 5 i50s, 6 tackles and a goal. Nice come back from the Bombers horror match Deano. Just reduce the clangers pls....5 today. 1. LUMUMBA! - The run, the carry, the breaking of lines! The eyes down hitting targets coming i50 on at least 2 occasions! Something i've rarely seen from a Demon HB of late. Ty Mr Lumumba. Keep it up son. Love it. Apologies to Gawn (who i thought won the first half soundly but was matched or beaten in large sections of 2nd half. Took some solid clunks though) Bugg, Wagner, Salem and Jetta
  18. Yeh would have to be Vince/Jeffy for Brayshaw/Matty i would think.
  19. Wagner and hunt both did very well i thought. Had Wagner ranked 7th in my comparative stats system! Nb.
  20. I'm also not getting any younger Pink and was also extremely nervous so recording it helped me turn down the tension a little lol. This was win or die for this club IMO today. Thankfully the former! Some useless stats for anyone interested.... We had 18 players with under 100 games today. Pies had 12. They had 10 with 100 or more...we only had 4. Doing ok. Next trade i would be topping up with some solid more experienced players if they fit the mix and have serious talent.
  21. Coming home at just the right time Jack. What a solid win against the old enemy. I couldn't watch live or listen as i had a stack of business work to do before my own trip OS so i recorded and soaked it up in my own time with benefit of no ads. Great stuff boys. Let's hope we can keep that form going from here. Tigers next. Have a few frothy fosters on the way back Jack!
  22. Mate i'm the exact opposite. That match against the Roos was the first time i've seen us play a little like Demons since Swooper's time at the club. A little unsociable footy never hurt anyone.....just ask the Hawks Gimme more Demon footy please Mr Vince (et al) & less "MFC"!!!! (old school). Harmes attack on ball and carrier also ....woot! Stick it right up em' Demons!
  23. Would love to find a replacement for Matty. Works hard to get into space well and does find it but his decision making afterwards is super slow old school and the disposal well...mostly up the line or to a contested lead etc. Rarely hits up a man short or longer. If he's going to play like this maybe play him in on a flank and tell him to play on quickly to the hot spot or teach him how to short pass to a lead (like a bullett) ...and do it quickly! Otherwise time to look elsewhere if he can't correct the old school old melb faults. DE last week running around 63% Vince also played well but has a fault here also ....bombing too often. DE of 53% Realise he often has more pressure but still think there's room for improvement if he can lower his eyes when possible. Team ave DE last week was 69%
  24. Great effort by the Big M last week but.... 1st quarter He failed to follow Goldy into the forward line and paid the price on a few occasions. Didn't work hard enough to get front position around the ground. Corrected the above in the 2nd/3rd Last Quarter Centre bounce....hit a few too many balls forward straight into North's defensive sweeper (may have been Zeibal). Gave North a couple of cheap quick entries late for a few cheap goals. Needs to be more aware of opposition set up. Either that or we should have manned sweeper up if that was Maxy's plan. Other than that he had a pretty amazing game with only a few slip ups. Made Goldy look second rate in the 2nd and some of the 3rd.
