  1. Why does Oscar always fly when he shouldn't and mostly never impacts anyway allowing the ball out the back....FMD
  2. This competition is not legitimate. The AFL obviously want preferred outcomes on the scoreboard. So many free kicks not payed or completely ignored. Hannan that's your goal what a mature bit of play son!! Coach will be replaying that one!!
  3. Very predictable BIASED umpiring is costing this match
  4. They have no energy on half their handballs and we often take too long to assess before kicking allowing opponents to easily pick us off. Many of our clearance handballs are also too short to a player already covered by an opponent allowing them to tackle us out of the contest too easily. We play too slow, and look for too many short options by hand and foot as a first choice. Our decision making and ball movement is pedestrian and needs speeding up and we need to look outside the immediate contest more often for clearance hand balls and the next kick up the field. Too reactionary, too slow to make decisions and playing the game too short. Brings other teams into the game too easily.
  5. If we don't have the worst starting record and worst record at winning close ones in the AFL i would be very surprised
  6. They also throw the ball more often and get away with it
  7. Couldn't believe the news on the airwaves this morning. Wishing Jesse a speedy recovery and a long healthy life. Got it early apparantly which is promising. Certainly puts anything footy into perspective given his last few weeks.
  8. Crikey yes of course....curses OD! 6 5 4 ....
  9. Weids for Hogan. Hogan plays CHF with Watts and Tracc rotating through FF and out wide on the lead. You dont make significant changes to a team that's just won convincingly on probably the hardest road trip outside of Subiaco against the ladder leaders. Apart from getting more games into the inexperienced kids and Big M's return that was as good a mix as this list offers right now IMO with possibly Harmes/Stretch fighting their way back in if their form is good enough. Bugg & T-Mac playing significant roles in forward half worked wonders and the T-Mac option now makes us that much more difficult to defend against. This week will give us a true indication of whether we have finally matured as a club above the shoulders. Talent across the park is there. We should be going in as slight favourites. The numbers and stars are aligning. From here it's purely how they cope upstairs. Finally we no longer have to wonder whether it's a personnel / list issue. We are ready to launch and the count down clock is ticking...... 3 2 1 ...........
  10. No complaints from me Dr. I don't think even he knew which way he was going to head in one goal there
  11. 6. Viney; 5.2 / 4th (weighted score / rank) 5. Cool Hand Clarry; 6.25 / 1st 4. Salem; 5.43 / 3rd 3. Hibberd (4.63 / 5th) 2. Pettracca; 4.60 / 6th 1. Mr Vince; 1.78 / 20th Apologies to The Jones Boy (5.70 / 2nd), Lewis (4.03 / 7th) and Pedders (3.63 / 8th ... no hit outs/ruck work included!)
  12. Is T-Mac a better forward than back chook? Difficult mobile match up deep and reminds me a weeny bit of Cameron, albeit a tad unco.
  13. Cam has stepped up so far this season on the field and in the comparative stat team averages. up to Rnd 21 last season - Ranked 28th with an average score of 2.51 So far this season - Ranked 8th with an average score of 3.73 and sitting in our top 10
  14. CHF all the way Ted. Problem solved.....as long as he brings the effort.
  15. Don't worry Flemo I'm pretty sure many Demon supporters have had that mocca/Moz feeling when attending/not attending matches over the years. I certainly have many times! As I mentioned after last week's horribilis, I was hoping that shocker was our line in the sand loss with regard to the ongoing mental fragility of the club. Last night is a great win and huge result but again on the back of a massive let down the week before. Let's see if we can now put 3 in a row together and also win going in as favourites and with the weight of expectation upon us. If we win 3 to 4 in a row under those types of circumstances then we will have turned the corner and finally matured upstairs. If so we are on our way to finals and possibly a top 4 finish with a bit of improvement on the injury front. Oh, and aside from coping with expectation, provided we don't revert and regress back to anything resembling last week's hand ball insanity. If we do then it won't matter how much we have matured....playing that rubbish is a recipe for a loss regardless of how well they handle expectations.
  16. Also feel that is the place he should play most of the time if we are to win more often with him in the team Dr.
  17. Have been out at a birthday party and thought i had drunk too much when looking at scores. Assuming We must have corrected our insane handballing and kicked more tonight. Our winning games have seen a ratio of about 1.30 so far. Tonight?
  18. Adelaide will probably score that and more from our errant disposals regardless of Bugg or no Bugg chook. One of our worst last week in this regard was our most experienced Co Captain We also had nothing to lose last week HBT, or the matches against Freo, the Cats and the Toiges
  19. Probably needed to play a shut down on Sloane with Vince i wld think tracc. If Sloane was allowed to roam, i doubt a swap with Stretch would give us a better advantage given the impact vs Sloane
  20. Again I disagree AF. Much of what is happening to the destiny of both of these clubs is what is happening upstairs, not so much on the ground/personnel. We seemingly have a very talented bunch coming through. But they so far haven't found the magical ingredient that sees a club become consistently competitive, that finds ways to win more often than it finds ways to lose, season after season. If at some stage we can string 3 or more wins together at some point when we are expected to win (ie, strong favourites) then we just might be finally showing the early signs of fixing our mental fragility dilemma. However, at this moment we remain as brittle as a Violet Crumble and just as easily broken far too often, even by mediocre teams in very ordinary form no matter where either team might be on the ladder. Fix our mind set (somehow!!???) and we might finally be able to take on the better teams and win more often and maybe even make finals.
  21. In the first half I would agree Watts but that second half he was all class and was involved in a fair bit of damaging link play I thought which, along with others, helped turn the tide to nearly pull off a miracle win. Their injury list is pretty extensive at the moment. As a club , they are very good at finding ways to win, even under substantial adversity. Maybe gritty is a good word. They just stick their heads down and go go go for the entire match at a franetic pace in so many aspects of the game including tackles, pressure, running, contested marking/spoil attempts and chasing. This makes them a difficult side to beat no matter who is in or out. Team based franetic attack, and team based franetic defending. They do get caught out sometimes on the counter when they turn over but usually don't turn over too much in the middle or down back (in most matches, tonight probably wasn't as good...credit to Eagles defence?) which means they have a chance of defending a little better when they do as not turning over in the worst parts of the ground. The Eagles seemed to out counter them tonight though and also defended bitterly in the second half down back to pull off a win. Albeit against a pretty undermanned opponent
  22. I can't really see much of a comparison between how the doggies and the MFC play out a match AF. We must view games very differently. I wish we were playing at their level and with their mind set though. We would probably be in a very good position at 5 - 2 right now and sitting in the top 4 going into this week.
