  1. Viney just trying to take em on too often when under too much heat. We are bigger bodied generally
  2. Frosty! Most Overdoing the handball a little too much.
  3. Back 6 looking solid. Hunt, Hibberd & Tmac on top with assistance from Mr Vince. Hogan running under ball a few times. Jones in everything but keep your feet son. Cool hand Clarry has it on a string, bringing others into the game, clearance King. Our gang tackling through the roof. Viney kick quickly forward when you get a break... Hesitating a little too often and hand balling back to players under the pump or to no one. Looking close to his better form though. Just clean it up a little and go more direct when free instead of wide / backwards
  4. Tigers are cleaner but don't run back very hard when they turnover
  5. The 'average' hit out stats for 2016 tell a very different story Nasher. Here they are courtesy of Footywire for season 2016 in ranked order for MFC players..... 1. Big Maxy - 42.18 / 22 (Hit outs/Games played) ... No.1 in AFL also. 2. Pedersen - 3.67 / 9 3. Dawes - 2.17 / 6 4. Watts 1.91 / 22 Regardless his main role (as for Watts and most non-specialist ruckman 2nd stringers) is not to win many hit outs i wouldn't think. Neautralise if possible then contest off the ground. Any wins 'to advantage' a huge bonus of course. Watts obviously much better at the ground ball if it's in dispute and not hit to advantage by an opp's 2nd stringer. Pedders generally plays a role that sees him at both ends of the ground depending on match ups and in the ruck on occasions as 2nd stringer, at least before Watts started playing there. If you think your best ball user around the ground and up forward, including probably our most accurate in front of goals is better used in the ruck Nasher then we see football through very different eyes. Pedders offers Watts the advantage of avoiding unnecessary ruck duties and allowing him to impact the game on the outside and up forward where he is at his most damaging as our best ball user, decision maker and most accurate shot at goal most games. That, plus a big ready made AFL body who often gets involved in scoring chains as a reasonable link man. Contests hard in the air, brings the ball to ground and not too bad with set shots when he gets the opportunity. He reminds me of Bull but a more well rounded experienced big bodied player who can effect a contest and will take a 2nd string defender, again allowing Watts the extra benefit of getting the 3rd stringer which should allow him to impact more and more often to the team's benefit. Pedders is by no means a "must" inclusion every week Clint unless he performs to a certain standard but he should at least be given that opportunity over a 2 to 3 week period if we continue with spasmodic results, W/L/W/L/WW/LLL etc, and are not showing any obvious improvement with match results or consistency up forward. This also assumes Pedders is in good form at Casey. Needs to earn it like anyone else.
  6. Weideman, Hannan, Melksham, JKH, Dawes, Garland, Michie, Frost, Bail, Riley, Fitzpatrick..... a few others you may want to add to the opportunity list out of those Cranky
  7. Stretch (4th) ANB (8th) & Harmes (9th) are all tracking top 10 statistically on weighted averages so far this year Dr. Would have to put in very ordinary games and be very unlucky to be dropped. Stranger things have happened at the MFC though eg, Kent, ranked 10th on averages. Last week's performance saw him drop to 18th (last week's results only).
  8. Had Bugg in my top 6 last week. Surely Bugg was a decent run with option (part time) for Dusty and another competitive beast around the mid field where we have been off a little so far this year? Shows you how much I know. Smith ahead of Pedders after last week's performance? I'm a huge Bull fan but most attendees had Pedders in the top 4 players and Smith just a so so game. Pedders also allows Watts to avoid the ruck (maybe a very brief cameo or two), surely this is the best option!? Having our best ball user and most accurate kick in front of goals, the opportunity to play more game time in the role he is most damaging? Pedders must be this year's Dunny. Wouldn't matter what level he performs at Casey, has probably been branded as a non-required 'senior' option by the Demon hierarchy already. As I've said so many times and will continue to say, DONT BRAND ANYONE...PERMANENTLY. Just play whoever the hell is in the best form for the role required and give them a decent 2 to 3 weeks to settle and show if they can bring that same form (or very close to it) at AFL level. JKH? Wish him all the best but has so far failed to make the step up to AFL level. I hope he makes a difference though and is a much improved player than what we saw early on. He would want to be but again, the selection committee needs to grow some balls and back their judgment and, unlike their rediculous and gutless "in one week out the next, in the next" Smithy decision, give JKH at least a 2 to 3 week run at it to find the pace and his feet at AFL level. I had Kent at about the same level as Harmes and in the top 10 players so far although it was only two matches and we saw a drop off last week against the Dockers and as some have said he hasn't really set the scoreboard alight. Would have thrown down the gauntlet and challenged him with one more week to show he can do better. JKH to back up last week's reasonable game at Casey once more before before committing to a decent stint at senior level if Kent doesn't lift this week. Hibberd in but Melk stays? Is that correct? Surely not. I rate O-Mac & Melk at a similar level in terms of what they add to the team so not sure how Melk stays when he hasn't really given us any significant improvement on O-Mac. Surely a direct swap with Hibberd? If we have a big win I will happily shut my trap and just like Sarjent Schultz admit that when it comes to selections....
  9. It's amazing what a win on Monday night would do OD. Hugs and backslapping all round ?
  10. Lets hope so Abe. Vince playing deep down back is a huge win for the opposition IMO. With Frost, Hunt and IF we can add Hibberd as another attacking (run & carry) defender we might finally have a solid, but attacking defence, that will cause some severe headaches for the opposition at the selection table and on game day. Throwing Vince further up the field is exactly what's needed at the moment. Adding another experienced body that will take a significant opponent to match up on. A little less pressure on the younger blokes in general through the middle?? The return of Lewis next week should also allow Vince even more freedom to roam higher up the ground We just might be about to take this team to another level and finally see another significant step in its development towards regular finals appearances. The next 3 matches are all very winnable and must wins if we are to make our first finals appearance in a decade, starting Monday night.
  11. Yes I think Ablett kicked 6 in the first quarter lol. Probably didn't but it sure felt like it
  12. So if I were to mention my residual dissapointment in Saty losing his grand daddy beard....would that count OD? ? VERY VERY Happy with the rest of his work!!!
  13. I now forgive Mr Vince for not looking to STAB pass the ball inside 50 in the last few seconds of the dockers match. The only option was the torp! All makes sense now ?
  14. Just let him get over his bloody toe injury first! All this bloody talk of marriage and trades I dunno. Rusty says close this thread!
