I agree with that sentiment WA but who is in better form that can play a mid field role inside/outside and take Dom's place at the moment who is also not under an injury cloud? I'm 'Buggered' if I know.... OH...wait!

Our 4 core mids are all inside biased and IMO lack the agility or burst speed to escape congestion often enough when the ball is won from the inside. Clarry somewhat of an exception here. Results in just another stoppage and not enough yardage gained quickly enough or directly out of the middle to allow our forwards to compete one on one very often. Many of our extractions also end up going backwards or lateral looking for a free player rather than giving to a quick burst outside or inside/outside mid who can go directly forward. A Danger, a Dusty, Sloane, or a Brad Hill type badly needed I reckon. Yes I know they don't grow on trees! We also over do the hand ball which hasn't helped with getting enough quick and direct entries IMO. Clarry the biggest offender and the other 3 core mids not far behind. Kick to handball was ugly on weekend especially given the wet weather. Saty mentioned a few weeks back that they had Viney training to try and improve his burst speed so this might be a sign that the FD is concerned here also and trying to correct the deficiency. I tend to think it's more a personnel problem though rather than working to try and improve what we have. Need to get ourselves an outside or outside/inside beast for next season. Time to trade.

THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
Mick ain't silly. He knows how to honour an exclusivity contract for XX $$. Mick and Shane may well be sunning themselves on the Maldives this weekend on the proceeds. Sam might even make that his next destination on street talk (the bag man??!!) ...hopefully on a one way ticket!

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Yeh i was in the forward pocket that day and watched Gazza kick a torp goal from just outside 50 on a mud patch. One of the best goals i've ever seen live and a memorable win

Yep been calling a long time. Passionate but it's always a coin flip as to whether his questions are accurate/relevant. I cringe a little whenever i hear him come on but he's also reasonable entertainment value and pretty much the only reg MFC supporter. Although i seem to recall a Dean from Burwood also on occasions.- Billy Stretch Appreciation Thread
We are not that far off Rogue. You're saying he is about 15th I'm saying roughly top 10 already. Emphasis on rough as he is so young in his career/development there are going to be a few off matches. Although that's no diff to others on similar game experience I realise.- Demons in the Media

He is already in our top 10 IMO ... has occasional brain/skill fade but who doesn't. Especially so new to the game. Great spread/ link player and quick thinker/mover of the air conveyance. A very solid outside pick up who occasionaly goes in when needed as well.- Lynden Dunn
I know. Just a light hearted (but unfortunately poor) attempt to apply a very loose double entendre on your description being capable of applying to either of Mr Dunn, Frost and Oscar Moon. A failed attempt to add a little humor. No offence intended sir- Lynden Dunn
May have paid a severe price for that Biff. The capacity for long memories when it comes to non-compliance knows no bounds!- Lynden Dunn
Omac might be picking up part of what the FD are wanting the defence to do better than say Dunn or Frost eg, zoning a little better with a forward press on and looking to hit short targets inside 50 if the ball gets turned over coming out of our forward 50, making the transistion a little quicker from defending deeper in our back half to run and carry/spread off half back. Oscar might also be trying harder to hit up short targets when running from HB. Not sure Dunn is capable of doing the same and seems to kick down the line a la old Melb style more often. The problem here though is that I doubt Omac is hitting many of those attempted short passes. Which may well leave us in a more precarious position on the turnover than if it were kicked longer down the line (Dunn/Garland style?). In other words the idea would be great if we had players who can finish off this transitional run by finding short targets more regularly or kicking to favoured sides to a one on one. Wags & Hunt seem to more adept at this finish or becoming so at a faster rate at this point. Haven't seen significant progress yet in Frost or Omac. Also not sure Omac is any better and may well be worse , at the one on one or chop out stuff when ball's coming in long from mid field. Could be a season or two behind being capable Here (physically) vs Dunn for an entire match. Might look good over a quarter or two (roughly) here, before falling away and getting opened up later in a game. I would still rather see Omac and Frost develop their size, tank and one on one experience, and importantly short passing skills/mistakes/turnovers at Casey before asking too much of them for four quarters at AFL level whilst demanding more from the likes of Dunn on the zone/Transistion/short passing stuff also. White is probably a reasonable example of someone who has done a bit more of an apprenticeship here and come in a little more prepared for the rigours of AFL, although one decent recent game isn't much to go on. Will be interesting to see how he copes over the next few weeks.- Lynden Dunn
Moon this topic is about Dunn, not Frost or Omac- Demons in the Media

- When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
I would never blame Nasher. Maybe his servers! :-D- When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Good recall thx Ricky- When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Not an official record but I believe we may have broken another hoo doo. When was the last time the Demons were such a big favorite (both with scribes and the bookies) in a blockbuster game ...and got the chocolates!? Maybe it wasn't that long ago but im thinking back to a fairly big build up to a match against the Toiges in the 90s when Gazza & the Wiz were up and about. Seem to recall a big game build up but we were considered the favourites. The Wiz took a screamer in the forward pocket/flank in front of general members area at one point and we went on to win well from memory. Regardless, even though the Pies fielded a pretty ordinary outfit, we still had a huge mental girdle to break out of on QB and we did it convincingly. We also played at least one quarter of 'finals quality' football in the 2nd. We are a fair way off challenging the top 6 consistently but also not that far off holding our own against anyone from 7 down IMO, provided we have most of those who played on Monday fit & available. Another quality (experienced) mid in next draft would be very handy. - Chris From Camberwell!
