  1. Might be worth re-rooking, assuming Magner gets elevated, and some other rookies get the arse. But honestly, spots are tight on the list, and now with the compensation picks activated, you'd think a minimum of 4 list changes coming up. Poor kid, really rotten luck. From one clumsy injury-prone human to another, I feel for him!
  2. If at this time you are being a lazy [censored], sitting on your fat arse not renewing your membership, then I hope the club hunts you down, kicks you in the nuts, then makes you pay up.
  3. I love Col Garland. Brilliant media performer. For the players this shouldn't be about 'playing for Jim', it should be about doing the right things on the field, to match the incredible things Jim did for the club off the field. He fought debt, through cancer, so that this club thrives, and competes, and succeeds. The players need to be driven enough to want to achieve that for themselves, but always know that the great privilege bestowed upon them to wear the red and blue each week, is largely due to the work of Jim Stynes. To dishonour that work with rubbish performances, would be unacceptable. The players should always remember that the last game Jim ever attended, was a crappy defeat to Hawthorn. He left this earth with that garbage burnt in his mind, and he'll be watching for something better.
  4. Given Adelaide's NAB Cup form, and our form of the l last many years, it's a no brainer to activate the picks this year. Next year one would hope, assume and pray that we'd finish higher than this season, which would therefore reduce the placement and value of the picks. Besides, if we pick two mids (aside from Viney), you'd think they'd need a good 2-3 seasons in the system to start to peak, which is really the start of our premiership window (which I hear is open for you to jump out of, should we fail). Now, if there is any justice in the world, and frankly, there isn't, we nail those two picks and get two gun mids who are better than Ratshit $cully.
  5. He has always been a class act and always acted with great dignity and with the best interests of our club at heart. He was a great person to have by Jim's side, and no doubt Jim appreciated this enormously.
  6. I could barely bring myself to write more than 3 sentences when I found out this morning, for fear I would burst into inconsolable tears at work. Many many moons ago, I had the privilege to attend some Reach workshops through school, where I first met Jim. He was so inspirational, and moving, and it was the first and only time in my life where I saw so many vulnerable teenage souls open up, let go, smile. It really was a very spiritual experience, even for somebody like me who is not spiritual or religious. Since then I have come across Jim several times, most recently at his favourite St Kilda restaurant about a year ago. I refused to bother him, but you could see, even through the illness, that his spirit was alive and well. He was laughing loudly and for some reason, that gave me enormous comfort. His passing was sadly inevitable, but it also released him from years of pain, and suffering. A strong and spirited man like Jim did not deserve to have the physical life taken away from him, and I am sure he and his family were somewhat relieved when he let go. He is in peace now. There are really no words that can do justice to the legacy that Jim leaves behind, nothing that can truly capture the lives he had touches, the people he had saved, or the gratitude we owe him for saving our beloved club. Because of him, we will be able to take our kids and grand kids to watch Melbourne play, a privilege Jim no longer possesses. He was a once in a generation footballer, and a once in a lifetime human being. May you continue to look down on us always, because the hole you have left on this earth can surely never be mended. Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality. ~Emily Dickinson
  7. The world is truly a worse place, now that you've left. What you have achieved in your relatively short life is nothing short of heroic, and there are no words that can do justice to the man that you were and the good that you represented. I have no doubt that you will rest in peace, as all good men do. My heart goes out to all of Jim's family and friends.
  8. Apathy central over here, and very little hope. If we finish 10th I'll be surprised. If we finish 14th, I won't. If Richmond finish above us, I will officially resign. Edit: which delusional nutbag voted 1st?! Get help. Immediately.
  9. Sh*thouse. Honestly, it's just one miserable day after another being a Melbourne supporter.
  10. Ok, depression levels have hit their peak. Time to leave work, get away from the score updates and get drunk. F&$k it.
  11. Trust me, football updates, no matter how bad, will be a welcomed relief from the pile of sh*t on my desk that I've been dealing with since 7am!
  12. Looks like I'll be stuck at work for at least half the match, so updates to keep me from jumping out the 4th floor window, would be appreciated.
  13. Thanks. I met with the club and gave them a folder full of design and development ideas. I'm not sure what took place since, but I have noticed a vast improvement in our range and a much bigger selection of 'heritage' inspired sportswear. If the club ever needed more help in expending the merchandising range, I'd be more than happy to land a hand. God knows I could use an occasional break from living, breathing and dreaming about womenswear.
  14. rpfc, it's time to get off the crack son.
  15. No, he's lying about not having finalised a sponsor, because that makes so much sense. And even if he is lying, his lies are more interesting than reading 24 pages of people going "OMG we are never going to get a sponsor, the club will go under, this is a complete mismanagement, it's crisis time. I blame Jack Watts".
  16. Harden up kid. If the worse thing an opposition supporter has on you, is that you barrack for an elitist club, you're doing alright. We should be proud of the fact that we are a club of educated snobs. Beats being associated with this
  17. My only criticism is that Jamison is ahead of Frawley.
  18. Now that we've got a few words on the matter from Cameron Schwab, can this utterly pointless 24 page thread cease to exist? I know we are all Harvard Business graduates with extensive expertise in sports sponsorship, but our input is still unnecessary.
  19. Great work, and thank you for taking the time to answer some burning topics. I'm glad that for once we are in a financial position which allows us to pick an choose the best possible sponsorship deal for us. This place is a mind-field of crap most days, but one thing it doesn't lack, is passion. We all love this club more than is probably good for us, and everybody expresses that love differently. Some of us love blindly and unconditionally (and are hurt often), others are occasional wife-beaters (Australia says no, people!). Whichever side you fall on, nobody here is completely rational, because love isn't rational. As for the blazers, anything that makes us more on trend and fashionable is approved by me. Now please make replicas available for sale, for women, so I can buy one. Thanks!
  20. I'd rock one to the footy every week. Beats wearing a gurnsey *fashion crime*
  21. I'll be sold after he delivers me a flag and a week long bender to celebrate said flag. Until such time, I care not for hasty unfounded judgements.
  22. They only remind you of school uniform because of the tie. If the tie was all navy, they would look good, although I still maintain that the intertwined MFC old- school logo embroidered onto the breast pocket would have looked better. They should have also added waist flap pockets with the red grosgrain to make it less 'traditional' and thus less 'school boy'. And embossed silver buttons. Must resist temptation to redesign everything.
  23. Where the hell is Grimes?!
  24. What SEN needs is less ads and less discussion of non-football related topics. Every time I tune in on the drive home from work, they are talking about finance, or movies, or some other crap. If I wanted to listen to grown men talking sh*t, I'd go to a pub. 3AW nauseates me, but at least when the Jurrah story broke, they were covering it properly. I tuned into SEN and they were talking about building a deck. Really?
