  1. Good move and good luck to him.
  2. Not that I'd condone this in any way, but it would be a little hilarious to watch this board go into epic meltdown if we traded Davey. (We are NOT trading Davey. I repeat, NOT trading him).
  3. I think we tried doing a trade with the Chinese but they wouldn't budge on their offer. One extra spring roll would have probably clenched the deal.
  4. If GC wins a flag before we do, it's because we have managed to screw things up, not because they've trumped us. That is all.
  5. And let the North Darwin Baboons poach him in 2018? I don't think so. Minimum 2024 contract extension or I suggest heads should roll!
  6. Who voted yes to releasing Jamar from his primary ruck duties?! Show your face and explain
  7. The missing players were all injured late last season, so it makes sense that they're not playing. Was looking forward to seeing Tapscott and Blease, but I was honestly just clutching at straws as neither were going to make their AFL debut in China!
  8. Speaking of rookie promotions, do we know if Jordie McKenzie has signed a new deal?
  9. Why not? He's as raw as most ruckman his age. If we had the same attitude with Jamar, who was far less athletic than Spencer at that age, we'd now be looking at a list devoid of any rucks. He is a low investment player and I'm glad we're giving him the right amount of time to develop. I can definitely see the potential the club sees in him.
  10. This will come down to who offers more. You've gotta remember that Hale is contracted, so North are under no pressure to do a deal. Hale probably said that he'd be happy to go to either club, and it's just a matter of North doing a deal. If we can't better Hawthorn's offer, we won't get him. The question is, do we want to better their offer.
  11. You never actually know how your draft picks will develop, and I'd suggest that only Ablett is an out and out superstar and a massive win for them. Fraser is crap, Bock is old and injured, and Brown and Harbrow are not going to make any structural difference. They are basically us 3 years ago. They're starting from scratch but with the exception of having a star player already in the mix (who is going to be tagged within an inch of his life). They need to develop key position forwards and backs, they need to develop a solid midfield and they need to ensure they don't completely overwork their 17 year olds. It's not going to be as simple as "we've had 10 top picks in one year so we're ahead of teams that have been rebuilding for 3 years". You've still got to put the time into developing these kids. There is no magic formula to rush that process, and they need every single one of their draft picks to turn into a star if they're going to be winning a flag in a couple of years. Reality tells us that won't happen.
  12. Why would clubs even bother asking about two of our best young kids in Watts (just signed 3 year deal) and Trengove (2 years remaining on contract)? WTF?!
  13. I... I don't even know what to say about this thread anymore. So here is a picture instead.
  14. Playing on in the goal square is equivalent to using the withdrawal method as a form of contraception. Seems like a good idea in the moment, but often leads to epic life failures.
  15. I'm sure it's boredom and footy withdrawals, but seriously, 17 pages on D. Hale? Never has so much been said about a possible trade since C. Moneybags Judd. And to whoever compared this to the St Kilda trade of last year, please! Ball was an experienced player and a key midfielder, and last year's draft wasn't getting the shite kicked out of it by Gold Coast. We're looking at trading draft places, when our list is already full of first round starts in the making. And maybe we'll trade a fringe player, but we won't be losing key members of our starting 18, and we won't be trading in bad characters who'll end up on rape charges (you'd hope). Our club has done little wrong in the last three years. Don't see why they'd start screwing up now. P.S.- Leigh Brown was very important to Collingwood this year, and he sucks a hell of a lot more than Hale probably could/will.
  16. At 16 pages a topic, I'd expect a controversial trade like Grimes for Hale. We have so little to lose by doing this deal, that I really don't see the need to fret about it. If he is no good, it won't in any way delay our premiership run.
  17. So you think the club went "poor Meesen, we feel sorry for him, let's put him on the payroll for the hell of it". I'm sure he has shown enough credentials to those that matter in order to score the job, and good on him. Some of the poorest players make the best coaches.
  18. I'll explode, and be so dellusionally happy that I'll probably proceed to get drunk and get "I love Liam Jurrah" tattooed on my chest. It's going to be epic. Now all we've gotta do is keep developing our list, find a back up ruck, come up with a premiership winning game plan, keep our list healthy, make the top 4, make a grand final then win a grand final. Too easy
  19. There will be no argument from me on this point!
