  1. Someone needs to tell him to get off the crack before he cracks open his mouth. That article made no sense and is also completely off the mark. If he ends up coaching a single senior game at GWS and if Folau ends up reaching half of Jimmy's feats than I'm a pineapple.
  2. I understand what you're saying, but I think if there were any midfielders or half back flankers with massive amounts of talent available to us, we wouldn't have skipped them. There was clearly no smalls worthy of us disregarding our needs, whereas in previous years we have done that. I think everyone wanted us to draft a tall at pick 11 last year and we got Gysberts, because we clearly thought he was far better than any tall available at that stage. With Jack Viney almost a certainty, and a big list of first and second round smalls already on our list, now is the time to start drafting to fill gaps. Just like in 2 years it will be time to trade picks for mature players to fill other gaps. We were never going to build a premiership winning midfield or defense out of this year's draft, so I really see very little risk in our strategy.
  3. Now allowed to be critical when you don't know sh*t about recruiting. No offense!
  4. Didn't know you were keen to have your way with our 18 year old draftees Well done to Jordie. 2 years of hard work have paid off. Love him!
  5. This is the first time under BP that we drafted strongly on needs. That tells me that we didn't think the draft was very strong and that we believe that we've got enough talent coming through to take a risk on a few talls. Big risk means big reward.
  6. God I love people who come on here 2 minutes after we've drafted a player and complain that maybe we made a mistake. Are you people recruiters? Just calm down and trust the club. We haven't made too many mistakes recently!
  7. Let's hope it's better. Not that these kids have to do much to surpass Newton's achievements thus far.
  8. So we're done for today. On paper looks like we've filled some of our biggest gaps, which is fantastic. If these guys turn out to be good enough to play in a premiership side, than BBBP is a genius.
  9. Perhaps it's who we really wanted so we took him? We don't need to take risks on mediocre midfielders. We have plenty of good ones in the bag, with Jack Viney to come.
  10. Big sigh from BBBP before calling out Howe's name. Is he bored of not getting enough first round action? God knows I am! B)
  11. We got our tall forward. Very happy that we found a KPF we thought was as good or better than the smalls available at pick 12. Welcome to Melbourne Lucas.
  12. Well he's a Melbourne supporter so he got an easy 40 for mental smarts. Not really a level playing field is it? Still thinking we're going with Jack Darling. Just a feeling I've got. Lets see how far off the mark I am.
  13. So sorry to hear about your loss. Glad you can find some solace in your love of our great club. No doubt your mum will be smiling down when she sees Ingo making a guest appearance.
  14. If we could bookmark things on here, I would. But he won't, so bookmark that! B)
  15. What a terrible tragedy and waste of a life. All the best to Aussie and the rest of his family!
  16. Well I'm not an expert on licensing so I don't know exactly how it works, but the club said the jumpers will be in before Christmas, which means December, which was roughly the time frame I was thinking of. With CNY you have to understand that most factory employees live on site, so around this time they leave to go home. And it's not just factories which are affected by CNY, it's fabric mills, the ports, it's even small things like the factories that make the labels for example. I have no idea what New Balance's situation is like, but it is definitely a struggle getting orders in before CNY unless you have been supremely organised. Obviously New Balance have, because if the jumpers are going to be in stock pre Christmas, they should be on vessel now. That means production would have started (and I'm only guessing here) 7/8 weeks ago depending on volumes. New Balance would have booked the factory space quite a while back, but because all AFL merchandise are licensed to the AFL and because we had a contract with another supplier, I assume that actual production wouldn't have started until the previous contract ran out. This would have given us time to sell out the old product, and time for the AFL to sign all the right documents. Also given we have a new emblem, the actual design process probably took a little longer, as we would have had to approve several strike offs. The club is very smart in getting probably the most popular merchandise item into stores pre Christmas, and I'm sure the rest of the product will trickle through between now and the start of the NAB Cup.
  17. Well I think they looked at the calender and went "why are we looking at a calendar instead of writing up Bruce's one year contract" Bobby, I know you've been a big supporter of Bruce, and so you must be upset by his departure, but just remember that Bruce is no better and no more entitled to a special deal than Neita or Junior were. Both took one year contracts and both were valued by the club. Bruce thought he was worthy of more, and he wasn't. Good luck to him.
  18. Calm down, it was clearly a tongue in cheek comment. Sheesh!
  19. Really great job. I love the 7 players, the background colour, the lighting and the balance. Much improved since the first try. No may I suggest you stop listening to the anally retentive complaints of people who probably don't understand how time consuming every tiny change can be? It's looking pretty sweet as is!
  20. No player likes being handed their marching orders, and I suppose some players feel more entitled than others. For some, it was wrong place wrong time, because we were in a rebuilding phase. White, Yze, Robbo, Bizzell even Brown could have played another 2/3 years and would have if we were in a different position. But we had a duty to develop a list, and for every one of those departed senior players, came another space on the list for a youngster. When you consider that the likes of Bail, Bennell, Jurrah, Martin and so on were late picks, PSD picks or rookie picks, than you can start to understand how valuable those departures were to our current position. It's a tough industry and these days it's not enough to be best 22 right now, you need to also be best 22 for the future or your position will always be vulnurable. I have no issues with how we've handled recent departures, or indeed how we've handled our list building, trades and drafting. We are in a far better position now than we were 3 years ago when White, Yze, Robbo, Neita, Bruce and Junior were still on the list. If you're not moving forward, you're moving backwards, and that is pretty much suicide in football.
  21. I doubt there will be any new stock before December. Our old licensing agreement only just expired, from my understanding. That means production on the new merchandise would have only just started, and with Chinese New Year approaching fast, there is also a big chance we won't be seeing anything before next year. Factories are a nightmare this time of year.
  22. OK then, can we trust the source of the above list? And by that I mean, was it published in the Herald Sun? Because Tom McNamara has been training with the rest of the group, so either someone forgot to lodge a form, or someone who wrote the list forgot to cross check it.
  23. Do you need to permission to train with the club you've just been delisted from?
  24. The less said about his departure the better, but he can shove his morals where the sun don't shine. We don't need players who think like that, or players who let their managers think like that.
