Trengove suspended for 2 ... now 3 weeks
Jaded No More replied to Neita3000's topic in Melbourne Demons
3 weeks?! Get stuffed. He tackled him in the midst in battle. He had no intention to hurt him. FFS we have to challenge this rubbish! Massive overkill by the AFL and of course it has to come at the expense of one of our players. -
I did not see that photo. In the video you can see him in the bottom of the screen and he seemed to stand on his own. Please please please be kind to him footy gods, he deserves some good luck!

Trengove suspended for 2 ... now 3 weeks

WTF?! Joke! -
Grimes to have scans tomorrow
-
In: Martin (have to support Jamar!), Bennell Out: Bate (unlucky but definitely our worst today), Grimes (inj) I know we won by nearly 100 points, but I hope Bailey still makes changes to make sure we don't become complacent. Pressure for spots is so important.
-
Bail did such an outstanding job down back I think it's time to permanently move Grimesy into the middle and replace him with Bail, who is an equally good kick and just as brave. His job on Dangerfield, who is an out and out gun, was absolutely brilliant! 6- Moloney 5- Jamar 4- Bail 3- Petterd 2- Frawley 1- Maric
-
How was that tap over his shoulder backwards to Moloney today? Ridiculous!

Have a look at the video of the team singing the song post match. Grimes joins in, and I can't really tell if he's on crutches. He is definitely not on two crutches, possibly just one. Can't have a broken foot if he's up singing the song. Anyone who has broken anything from the hip down before would tell you that standing up singing is not top of your priority list. Unless you are really high on Morphine. So fingers crossed!

Crappiest Photoshop job ever, but still, gets my point across.
-
We continue to play with fire though. One day our luck with Jamar will run out. We are sending him into an early retirement.
-
I don't think anyone is complaining, just pointing obvious things out. Bate had like 2 possessions at half time, and was clearly struggling to find his feet. So much so Bailey put him down back. Things are never as good or as bad as they seem. We certainly should be happy and proud of this effort but it means nothing if we get comfortable and come out with a pathetic display again next week. We have to strive for perfection from everyone in the team or we'll never be real contenders. Bate had a poor game in comparison to his teammates. He also hasn't played all year so you expect he'll take a few weeks to warm up. I just question whether we get any value out of Bate and Dunn in the same forwardline at the expense of Martin, when Jamar could hardly walk in the last quarter. I think both are third talls who can do the defensive thing well, and kick us some goals, but two of them are an overkill for me. Imagine if it was Jamar who went down in the first quarter with an ankle injury. Edit: BTW I think Bate absolutely deserved a game after his efforts last week in the VFL, but I don't know whether it was the right move to keep Dunn and use him as a second ruck. Obviously everything came off today but I don't think it's a long term strategy.

I loved that Bailey threw him into the centre square, made him go hard and get hit. He has had a habit of hearing footsteps and not going hard enough for the ball. Today he was excellent in the contests and really stood out with his much renowned kicking. Excellent game from him and one he has to always strive for. Definitely shows that he is wasted as a small forward.
-
Yeah I think he was pretty damn exhausted towards the end of the match, but his ball sense was excellent even late in the last quarter with some good tap ons. Jamar concerns me greatly. We are running this man into the ground. He could barely walk to the bench in the last. We have to bring Martin back in to give him a bigger rest. If he gets injured we are f'ed!

The Good Pressure on the ball carrier Contested possessions Tackling Inside 50's Work rate The Bad Grimesy The Ugly Bater trying to take a contested mark

Was on crutches post game but no bandage on the foot. You'd think if it was broken he'd have been in hospital getting x-rays and a cast/boot. Perhaps just bad bruising? Fingers crossed because I reckon Bail's game today was good enough to give Grimes more runs in the middle.
-
I'm about to jump the fence and slap him across the head. Wtf was Bailey thinking, bringing in Bate instead of Martin only to throw him down back and have him fail miserably? FMD! Grimsey hope it's not too serious. I'm worried we are going to run out of legs so we have to open a bigger lead or they'll run us over in the last. Watts and Tappy

There will always be those who over and under react to things. From my point of view though, I have never been less passionate about this club. Even in our dark years of 2007-2010 I felt more excitement than I do right now. I will of course continue to support this club and go to games every week but right now, it's only because I feel obligated to do so. I'm not someone who runs away or gives up when things get hard, but right now I'm somewhere between don't care and meh about 2011 and beyond. Hopefully this club can do something in the near future that will raise the excitement level of all jaded (pardon the pun) supporters.

FUTURE CAPTAIN!!!!! OMFG!!!!11 -
Such great news!

I actually love tennis, so I'm happy about that. I'll probably end up going back into the office or working from home in a couple of weeks, but certainly if the pain is keeping me up at night I'll do some reviews while high on drugs. Should make for some entertaining reading
-
Yeah I'm feeling very very sorry for myself, don't you worry about that. This is by far the worst pain I have ever experienced, and I've had some pretty nasty broken bones before. On the other hand I have lots and lots of old Melbourne games, which I'll watch from the discomfort of my bed. I wonder if morphine makes our players look better or worse...
-
I was meant to go to Thailand today, and stupidly fell on my knee last night (it was just a silly trip, nothing unusual) and broke the knee cap in half. 2 weeks of complete bed rest, plus another 4 weeks in the brace. Hoping it heals well or else I may need to get some pins or something inserted. Needless to say my beach-side cocktails have been replaced by bed-side morphine. F'ing awesome! Thankfully I have great friends who will come keep me company and my dad is on holidays so he's my nurse on call.
-
While I'm no fan of cricket, I am going to be bed bound for the next 2-6 weeks with a broken knee cap, so thank goodness for cricket!!!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MAX GAWN

They noted that Fitzpatrick is more of a forward than a ruckman, but when you look at the state of our rucks at the moment, we're about 5 short. -
Excellent news Two Sheds! Your story just devastated me and it's great to hear that you have some very positive news to share. As I think I said to you before, doctors don't know everything and they are often wrong. You keep fighting and stay positive and you definitely can beat this. Cancer is still largely an unknown disease, particularly rare cancers, so please make those medical books as one of those success cases that every other poor bastard with the same type of cancer can look to. Best of luck!
